Most hated player in White Sox history
QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 10:08 PM) i am a danks fan and thank you for posting that. it was an injury that derailed him. I still think that deal we gave him was the right move at the time and I'm sure a lot of posters on this forum will agree with that. In hindsight, it sucks and maybe the Sox should have been a bit more observant of how poorly he pitched in the last month of 2011. Still, Danks got a fair market value contract for the pitcher he was at the time, which was a solid #2 or #3 left handed starter. Buehrle got less money, but he was also a lot older. If the injury didn't happen, the Danks deal would have worked out better than the Buehrle deal.

08/24/2015 - Red Sox @ White Sox - 7:10 CDT - CSN
So is there even an incentive for the Sox to actually try and re-sign Samardzija at this point? He's shown he's nothing more than a middle of the rotation starter this year and he's going to be 31 next year. I'm not sure I'd bother to offer him anything worth more than a QO on a annual basis for 3-4 years. Even with the current free agency market, that might be a fair deal for him given how poorly he's pitched this year.

Most hated player in White Sox history
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 24, 2015 -> 09:53 PM) John Danks has been an average pitcher for us for 9 years. The only reason he's disliked now, in year 9, is because of his contract. Danks has been average to below average this year. If it wasn't for his shoulder problems, he could have been one of the better Sox pitchers of the past decade. He was absolutely money in 2008 and had 4 seasons where he put up 3.7 WAR per season on average.

Bill Maher: God/Organized Religion, yes or no
QUOTE (farmteam @ Aug 23, 2015 -> 09:43 AM) I suspect we've already had a non-religious president or three. Even today, it's political suicide as a national politician to admit you don't believe in God. Those days are rapidly closing, though. As to the original question, I consider myself agnostic. No one know what happens when you die, but if I had to guess it's like going to sleep indefinitely. I'm pretty sure Obama is not actually religious. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, but like you said, in the political world, if you're anything that's not a Christian denomination or Jewish, you're screwed.

Bill Maher: God/Organized Religion, yes or no
QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Aug 22, 2015 -> 11:27 PM) Non-religious. I wouldn't consider Bill Maher a particularly good advocate for nonbelief though. Bill Maher is an awful athiest. As an athiest, I hate people who go out there and make fun of other people's religions and make it seem like they're all inferior people. Maher's one of those guys. You're not going to get religious people to change their minds. If they do, it's not because you yelled at them and told them they're stupid.

Saw Straight Outta Compton and liked it a lot. I thought the casting was great and as someone who really didn't know much about NWA, it was fascinating.

2015 TV Thread
QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Aug 21, 2015 -> 11:13 AM) It's kinda odd how the show seems to be wrapping up. Tyrell is falling apart. The hack seems to be coming together. Angela is going to get her settlement. There's no way it all ends up working out perfectly right? lol you bet there's no way everything works out correctly.

Got Madden 16 on EA Access. New catch and defense mechanics take some getting used to.

Trayce Thompson
QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 18, 2015 -> 07:43 AM) In 16 ABs, Trayce has already been worth 0.5 WAR. His defense, along with the potential of his bat, should make him an every day start from here on out. Give some of the other OFs rest and rotate him at DH. That number could easily go down to 0 in the next 16 ABs. I agree he deserves a look and we should play him while he's hitting, but I don't think we should get too excited. It's too early and his minor league numbers weren't exactly stellar.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 16, 2015 -> 11:28 PM) I think the bolded is a good comparison. I enjoyed season 2. I enjoyed season 1 more because of the cast, as I am a huge MM and Woody fan, but season two had its moments. And for those saying the first 3 episodes of season 2 were brutally slow, do you not recall season 1? Season 1 started off pretty damn slow itself. Season 1 was slow too. Slow enough for me to stop watching the first episode on my first attempt to watch the series.

2015 TV Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 11:00 AM) I am still going back on forth on what is reality. Part of me even wonders if Mr Robot is still real, and it was actually Elliot in the back of the limo with Tyrell. This is what good shows do to people. We're unsure of what's actually happening, just like Elliot.

Mr. Robot was absolute perfection last night. That's one of the most well done TV episodes I've ever seen. The acting, the directing, and the twist were all awesome.

Padres claiming lots of players
QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 12, 2015 -> 01:04 PM) WTF is wrong with them? They are just bizarre. A.J. Preller doesn't know what he's doing anymore.

Hello, Mr. Thompson
That's an awesome celebration. Hopefully it works out for Trayce. We badly need one of our hitting prospects to pan out and break expectations.

2015 Videogame thread
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 03:33 PM) I believe you. Simply not giving him black hair like Sony is probably most of it. The problem with Sony's CAPs is that you either have brown hair that's really dark or blonde hair that's really blonde. There's almost no in between. I made Sale with blonde hair, a brown beard, and a blonde mustache.

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 10:53 AM) Tyrell is more odd than Elliott. Glad the last two eps have gotten better than the previous 2. Yeah he's a bigger sociopath than Elliot. I mean, who would have gay sex and strangle people just to move up the corporate ladder? Now that I think about it, he and his wife remind me a lot of Claire and Frank Underwood.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 12:26 PM) I cringe every time they do a close-up on his face. I made my DD create a player Chris Sale. I swear to god, I made a better face in 20 minutes than Sony did.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2015 -> 10:18 AM) Great episode of Mr Robot. Really curious how Elliot gets out of what he said to his shrink, and how Wellick gets out of his rooftop visit. The shrink stuff isn't that big of a deal. He can always threaten to leak everything about her. Plus I think he was trying to relate to her, and if she's as lonely as he is, she wouldn't go to the cops with that. Plus, there's always client confidentiality. Tyrell might be screwed though.
