QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 09:50 AM) That sound your hearing in the background is the sound of losing on the price is right. All of Apples ecosystem works via wifi, so there is no need for IR anymore, though some of their devices still have some remnants of it leftover. That said, Apple has a track record of getting rid of older tech faster than anyone else. They were one of the first to lose the floppy, and now they're one of the first to discard optical, too. I see IR in that same arena...a useful technology that's been superseded by an even better one. Yes, there will be hangers on to older technology, but for the most part, everyones catching on. On a serious note (I hope you've noticed that I haven't been serious for the past 20 min), almost every TV still uses IR. Nobody uses a floppy anymore. Can manufacturers make a TV that uses bluetooth instead? Yeah, but it wouldn't make a lot of sense for them considering IR does the job just fine.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 09:49 AM) Well, he's right, most adults don't. All they care is whatever phone they have does the very few things they use it to do, which is almost primarily text. So long as it does that, they don't care. Most of the people I know with iPhones or Androids (top end models), do nothing but text or make calls...all the rest of what the device is capable of they don't know, and don't care about. I don't view adults in their late 30s as normal people.

There's WiFi everywhere!

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 09:45 AM) No, we really aren't. God I cannot wait for that 30 second commercial spot about how revolutionary the iPhone IR blaster is.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 09:46 AM) And one of the major tools used in modern journalism is computers/phones, so being informed on the tools you use will probably be beneficial. What you are saying is it's ok for them to be ignorant about the things they will HAVE to use in order to do what they're studying to do...and um, well, it's not ok. Well, according to shack, 'normal' people don't care about things like phones.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 09:45 AM) Yet they go to a school to learn a trade that uses nothing but technology. That's like going to school to be a mechanic but not caring about cars. Joe's majoring in journalism...not computer science.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 08:07 AM) Apparently, your school is state of the art, but the students that attend it are anything but since IR amazes them. They're 'normal' people, they don't care or know about technology. Especially not technology in a phone, that's just way too abnormal for them.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 12:50 AM) Yeah, and maps have existed pretty much since the dawn of civilization, so the fact that we have them in our phones is no major feat at all I guess. How do you not understand that having something exist, and having something exist inside of a cell phone are different things? I think it's stupid that this somehow is bothering a few of you, as if I had been proclaiming I invented this myself. They're only saying these things because it's not a feature on the iPhone.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 08:45 AM) Ugh, that is the point, my young padawan... Maybe you missed my sarcasm. And like it or not, people DO care about phones. If they didn't, they wouldn't have one. Stop acting like you're the cool guy in the room. This is a thread about technology. If you're not willing to deal with people who obsess over a expensive electronic toy, then don't bother.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 09:08 PM) Oh for certain! I'm sure you get ALL the chicks with it... lol when was the last time anyone picked up a chick because of a smartphone? I'm anxiously waiting to hear about how your iPhone has gotten you laid at least 15 times.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 09:49 PM) Butler is going to keep getting better, no doubt in my mind. It'd be so damn nice if Boozer could consistently score against Miami but I have no reason to believe that's going to happen. It depends on who's on him. He absolutely dominated Anderson and Haslem tonight. And Butler is going to be the difference maker this year, that's for sure. If he turns into a guy who'll get you 15-17 a night while shooting efficiently with great defense, then I think I like the chances of the Bulls winning it all. Of course, that's assuming Rose stays healthy and returns to form. And I'm just putting this out there. I said that Butler reminded me a lot of Leonard last year. Now I'm thinking his ceiling is last year's version of Paul George.

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 09:25 PM) Speechless. Right when they're trying to comeback. The funny thing is that Crawford initially called offensive foul and then changed his call.

Butler had a hell of a game. Boozer was absolutely owning as well. It's too bad literally nobody else showed up. Losing Butler and Deng to early foul trouble really f***ed the Bulls. Oh well.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 08:18 PM) Terrible. They'll both make shots, Dunleavy is just off and Snell just as he was the first preseason game looks extremely nervous. The good thing is that it's only game 1 of 82, but none of this is very encouraging.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 07:32 PM) Mine does. It's essentially a harmony all in one. You can't do it to other TVs that isn't connected to whatever system you have in your house though. The IR blaster is a really cool thing to have.

QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 06:54 PM) So, would Howie Kendrick sweeten the pot enough for you? I then become sketpical that Santiago or Q is enough, though. Depends how much they care about losing Kendrick's salary. I think we'd have to give up Q to get Kendrick, which I'm definitely not willing to do.
