2013-2014 NFL Thread
Cutler's gotta stop challenging DeAngelo Hall. He got picked 4 times by Hall in 09 and Hall's had two close calls already.

Red Sox vs. Tigers
In no world should Victorino not start on the White Sox. The guy put up a .353 wOBA this year and a .351 OBP. He also played incredible defense in RF this year and can probably be pretty good in center. I don't care if he's going to be 33 next year, if you can get him at the right price, get him.

Josh Johnson?
It all depends on how much money he wants.

Slow pitch softball thread
Got my first walk-off win tonight. I missed a go-ahead home run in the 6th by about 10 feet (just got under it), but we were able to hold them in extras and score on an error to win it. Good times.

Sox Sign Jose Abreu - 6/$68 million
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 07:36 PM) Starting pitching? Does this guy watch baseball? lol, it's not like the White Sox had the 8th most valuable pitching staff last year or anything (according to fWAR).

Let's sign Brian McCann
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 12:59 AM) It's a possibility. In the Abreu thread someone said payroll is around $66 now . Last year it was $119. With $25M in TV money lets say the Sox stay around $120M payroll. That means we still have $50M+ to spend for 2014. With how poorly we played and the low attendance numbers, I think getting a payroll over $100 million would be an accomplishment.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 12:36 AM) Trade for John Jaso???!!! With all the RHP we see I'd love this. Dude has an OBP over .400 the last 2 years vs RHP(430 ABs) Don't think the Sox would be in contact with an agent about a trade though so I don't think that's the nugget. Still would like to see it happen though. Not really a David Dejesus fan...Byrd would be intriguing, esp. if he can play CF....I'd really hate to give up on Dayan. I would love Jaso on this team. You can hit him leadoff or second (I have a feeling he won't hit leadoff with Robin as manager). DeJesus would be a fine platoon partner for Viciedo. If we trade De Aza, DeJesus would be a fine replacement in center.

Sox Sign Jose Abreu - 6/$68 million
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 12:50 AM) Buck could definitely figure into the catching situation, although it's not ideal. DeJesus isn't a fit right now unless they trade DeAza. Pretty sure I heard Reddick needed surgery...not sure if they're willing to sell super low on him, BB's not stupid. Suzuki is going to have his option declined, so he and Buck would be lesser names for catcher. Still think they're not going to spend to solve the remaining problems (maybe a veteran LHP if we get closer to legitimacy)....they are going to have use either Santiago/Quintana, Beckham, Ramirez and/or Reed. Ideally, Semien would be at 2B. Someone mentioned Headley, Hanley Ramirez and Sandoval....those are all high-risk players. Sandoval for his weight and getting older and changing leagues, Ramirez will probably stay in LA if they're happy with him or he will be injury-prone and Headley just had a dismal season. The Blue Jays' Lawrie (not Jed Lowrie or Mike Lowry from Bad Boys) remains an interesting/controversial name that might be in play. Headley's price is about as low as it'll ever get. I'd be ecstatic to get a player like him (even his bad season wasn't that bad).

Let's sign Brian McCann
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 12:34 AM) All aboard the McCann train. If they could somehow someway nab Ellsbury as well, then Rick Hahn is a baller. I doubt we have the kind of money to get both.

Let's sign Brian McCann
QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 12:19 AM) What does everything think Cano is going to get? I would kill to see him on the Sox.. highly doubt they would spend the money needed but one can dream! I was just reading Cano supposedly asked 10yrs 300+... yikes no chance He's worth nowhere near $300 million. He would handicap your payroll for the second half of that contract.

Let's sign Brian McCann
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 11:56 PM) I didn't want McCann up until about an hour ago. I think this team may actually compete in 2015 if they can add Abreu and McCann. With Abreu and McCann, I think they can compete next year. You get a nice middle of the order with McCann, Abreu, and Dunn.

Sox Sign Jose Abreu - 6/$68 million
QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 12:18 AM) Wonder if the agents would be involved if the Sox were negotiating a trade for one of the players they represent. Brandon Phillips is reportedly being shopped by the Reds. David Wright? Ugh, not BP. Doesn't walk, extremely overrated hitter.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 11:53 AM) so what's the deal with buying that for the ps3? you can upgrade to the ps4 version for 10 bucks? Yeah, it would be a digital copy. Then you can go sell back the PS3 copy.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 11:52 PM) Alright about to go play GTA and then hit the hay. Nugget: One of the Agencies who have been in touch "informally" with the Sox fairly recently has been ACES. Do some research and you can probably get some names. DeJesus, Byrd, Lester (unlikely)?

Technology catch-all thread
The New Nexus (Nexus 5) will retail for $349 for the 16 GB model and probably $400 for the 32 GB model. Needless to say, I will be ordering it when it comes out. Unlike the Nexus 4, this phone pretty much has everything you need (like LTE).

Sox Sign Jose Abreu - 6/$68 million
QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 10:53 PM) So does this mean we are out of the running on any of the potential OF free agents, I mean we should still have plenty of money to go around to add an impact bat and a catcher I'd imagine. I think we should go after Corey Hart. He's not going to cost a lot of money, so not a big risk.

Sox Sign Jose Abreu - 6/$68 million
I think having Alexei and Viciedo on the team had a lot to do with getting him. Hopefully, he turns out to be as good, if not better, than Cespedes and Puig.

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 11:18 AM) That's a crapshoot. Any of those three can get you points. I'd pick Allen since Rivers focuses on hot receivers. Jennings may not get as many looks with Freeman starting his first game, and Williams may get chances, but he's not the primary guy in Dallas. I'm also leaning towards Allen. Just wanted to see if anybody had a differing opinion.

Dodgers vs. Cardinals
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 15, 2013 -> 06:02 PM) http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1609247...oyalty-rankings Here's one that ranks it Yankees, Phillies, Giants, Cardinals and Braves (not that anyone rates them so highly). The White Sox have always played second fiddle to the Cubs in the city of Chicago, but they have failed to consistently put fans in the seats even when they're playing well. The last time the team was in the postseason in 2008, their average attendance was just 30,877, or a little over 75 percent capacity at U.S. Cellular Field. Their attendance numbers declined to 24,271 last season (24th in baseball), and that was despite the fact the team sat in first place for most of the year. Unscientific. Five worst.... 5. White Sox 4. Marlins 3. Mariners According to Seattle PI, a study was done that shows the Mariners have lost more fans than any U.S. sports team in the past decade, as attendance has dropped 51.4 percent over the past 10 years. 2. A's 1. Rays Five best... 5. Red Sox 4. Giants 3. Phillies 2. Cardinals 1. Yankees Mariners less loyal than the Marlins...now that's funny.
