2012 Video Game Thread
QUOTE (Papa Tru @ Mar 17, 2012 -> 10:16 AM) Yes, I did trade in The Show for MLB2K12.. The Show was terrible and I cant believe I got suckered into buying it by FoP.. Plus, MLB came with NBA2K12 as well and im loving that game so far.. I dont get how you guys can like PS3 so much.. its so inferior to XBOX its not even funny.. You have to wait for long loads whenever you put a game in the PS3 (Yawn) the dashboard is clunky and poor to navigate.. the controller is too damn small.. You cant talk to anyone when you are playing online.. The bluray is pretty damn nice though.. Blasphemy. I stopped after one year of 2K. That game just doesn't feel like actual baseball.

Get drunk in 2K12
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Mar 14, 2012 -> 11:00 AM) Last night was my first real time drinking at Kams, I don't remember much. Oh god... I've vowed to never enter Kam's, even though I live right next to it, which oh BTW sucks badly. I can't sleep until 2 AM.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 16, 2012 -> 12:15 PM) $2.5 million minor league deal with the Yankees. Won't be ready to start the year. Per the Twitter-verse Don't the Yankees have an abundance of starters? Why the hell do they need a 40 year old?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 15, 2012 -> 04:14 PM) Only the dumb ones. I can be a tad perturbed at the price paid for Nick Young, but whatever. Nick Young's a chucker who can't play D, but it still would have been nice to have him, especially at the price LAC paid.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 15, 2012 -> 03:30 PM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/break...0,2344264.story Just like the Lakers. Bat sh*t crazy. There was no way the Bulls were going to trade Noah + Taj + picks for Gasol. That's straight up murder. Noah's actually been more productive this year than Gasol. In fact, Noah's been one of the most efficient players in the league this year according to WS/48.

Sun-Times: Trades Will Happen Soon if Sox Fail

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 15, 2012 -> 11:47 AM) They're in desperation mode. They are completely f***ed now that Howard is staying in Orlando. Deron will likely bolt to Dallas this offseason, so they bring him in to upgrade from Stephenson. It's not a great move, like I said, they're now talented enough to grab a playoff seed (if they stay as constructed for next year, which is doubtful, because Deron will be gone. Deron/Farmar Brooks/Morrow Wallace/Green Humphries/Green Lopez isn't awful, (though scoring down low will be quite easy for any team). That looks like a pretty solid lineup on paper.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Mar 14, 2012 -> 11:45 PM) Call me crazy, but unless Dwight agrees to come here. DO NOT BREAK UP THIS TEAM. They're special and they as a team earned the right to go at it themselves tonight. You trade a guy away you risk ruining the entire chemistry that makes this team awesome. Edit: And if they lose as this team I will not be upset. I think this is the first time in my fandom that I'm attached to players as much as the colors on the jersey. No, please trade Boozer. He was so f***ing worthless.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 14, 2012 -> 11:16 PM) I think Spoelstra is given a script to follow each game. -pre-game interview, mention cliche basketball words like hustle, passion, power -sideline huddle talks to players, cliche cliche cliche talk about hustle, driving, staying together -blown calls, pretends to glare at refs, throws jacket back to show how angry he is, mutter, shake head Every game I see him I will give him one thing though, he's great at calling time outs to slow down the other team's momentum. He also calls a lot of TOs after an and 1, which can possibly ice the FT shooter a bit.

So how long until the Heat stop playing like crap and start cutting this lead down to single digits? There's no way JL3 will keep hitting these shots.

Sabermetric Fantasy Baseball
QUOTE (Reddy @ Mar 14, 2012 -> 12:18 PM) if it's sabermetric why the HBP? how is that at ALL in the batter's control? kind of silly for fantasy. rather have OPS or something like that. also, K/9 instead of K's is a much better stat. You can't just stream them. It's not a category league, it's points head to head, so K/9 is not really possible to do... Plus HBP is counted in OPS, wOBA, etc. A lot of fantasy leagues also count RBIs and Runs, but those aren't really totally the batter's doing either.

QUOTE (TheCut87 @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 07:04 PM) this is from RealGM.....interesting timing for a new 10 day contract if it is a deal w/ the bulls Well, C.J. is hurt... But yeah, it could also mean that they're trading Watson. Somebody brought this up in a thread at RealGM... The Lakers want Ramon Sessions. The Cavs want Asik. How about we trade Asik to Cleveland for Sessions. Then send Sessions + Boozer + draft pick to the Lakers for Gasol...? We could also send Watson to Cleveland and get a guy like Parker to get more SG depth. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6qs92ay The money works.

Sabermetric Fantasy Baseball
This is a league I decided to start up last year and it was pretty successful. The league is currently at 8-9 teams after I trimmed off some people who didn't play last year. Positions: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 2 OF, CF, Util, SP, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, BN, BN, BN and 2 DL spots. Scoring is weekly head to head points: At Bats (AB) -1 Singles (1B) 5.5 Doubles (2B) 8.5 Triples (3B) 11.5 Home Runs (HR) 15 Stolen Bases (SB) 2 Caught Stealing (CS) -3 Walks (BB) 3 Hit By Pitch (HBP) 3 Innings Pitched (IP) 7 Hits (H) -2.5 Home Runs (HR) -12.5 Walks (BB) -3 Hit Batters (HBP) -3 Strikeouts (K) 2 Draft will be about two weeks from now. The date is subject to change as I want almost everyone to be there. If you'd like to join a league that requires a different kind of baseball thinking, then you would definitely enjoy this league. Just ask J4L. PM me for league sign up information if you're interested.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 04:11 PM) So, who has a PG they are willing to part with and need a PF? Denver has a boatload of guards and looks like they need an actual PF so Nene can move back to the 5 full-time. But I don't think Andre Miller will change the Lakers' minds. Maybe the Bulls can try for Brandon Jennings...? Milwaukee wants to deal.
