  1. I haven't been watching lately, but what the hell is wrong with Beckham?
  2. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 07:06 AM) It's weird, the first month or 2 after the trade, he was scoring at an effective rate, had good assist numbers, and basically looked like the player he was a few seasons ago when we made the finals. And since then he has fallen apart. He doesn't drive to the basket anymore, and he takes so many off balance horrible jump shots when he doesn't have to. Right now, this is the most concerned I've been as a Magic fan since the day that T-Mac demanded to be traded. We are at a real crossroads right now. A lot of Orlando fans are calling for Otis Smith the GM to be canned. He's done a decent job at finding talent over the years, but he's made some horrible trades and overpaid for free agents. I always wonder how this team would look with Courtney Lee as the 2 guard right now. He picked up Vince Carter on the downswing, and Marcin Gortat has turned out to be the best player in that 5 player trade. And there are big rumors that Houston is going to go all out for SVG in the off-season. And I wouldn't be shocked if he goes, as I think he sees the writing on the wall in terms of Dwight, and Houston have an owner who'll spend to win. I'm hoping that a new CBA comes in that will allow us to cut Arenas in the off-season, J-Rich walks, we sign Affalo as a replacement, and we work a trade for Johnny Flynn (even if it includes Nelson). A core of Flynn-Affalo-Turk-Bass and Howard for next season would give us a much better team look. Everyone's speculating that Howard's going to be a Laker from 2012 onwards. Not sure how they would do that cap wise (sign and trade with Bynum?), but I think the Nets are a team to watch in that scenario. I was always confident he would stay, but that was based on us contending. Right now, I'm much more pessimistic. Jonny Flynn...the dude with a 44% TS...for Jameer Nelson? You're doing Felix and the T-Wolves a hell of a favor there. The guy's ORtg's never cracked 100 yet these past two years. A lot of teams are gonna be after Affalo if he doesn't re-up with Denver. The Bulls will definitely be one of them.

QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 02:20 AM) Man really? he has a whole 55 ABs in 15 games.. come on people.. hes gonna get like 500 more ABs this season The guy hits .240-.250 you're gonna have to accept that, the avg is going to be low.. but he hasn't hit less than 38 HR's since 2003 so statistically the odds are he is going to hit anywhere between 35-40 HRs by the time this season is over.. Stats are so overrated.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 12:31 PM) Wow. Talk about advanced statistics! If you guys want to take situational run expectancy into account, then this should be useful: http://www.tangotiger.net/RE9902.html (these are not updated for today's scoring standards, BTW) So for instance, if the starter allows a single with nobody out in the 7th. Then the relevancy of this stat Sqwert is thinking of is pretty low. If you look at the run expectancies with nobody out, it's just like the way ERA is currently calculated anyway with some slight variations here or there. If you take the number of outs into consideration, then it changes the stat completely. So there's something else to take into account as well. So if Buehrle leaves the game with a guy on first and two out, and Will Ohman allows a two run home run, then Mark should really be charged for 1/4 of a run, not the whole run, mostly because the he a) pitched 2/3 of the inning anyway and b) he shouldn't be penalized completely for Will Ohman being bad. As for taking hitter performances in certain situations into account, that will be extremely difficult. It's a sample size issue. Just because Brent Morel might be 1/2 with the bases loaded in the 7th doesn't mean he's a great hitter in these situations. You might be able to do it with say, Paul Konerko, because he's probably been in that situation at least 50-100 times in his career. But it's not something that could be done for everyone. BTW, I think RBI and advanced statistics should never be mentioned together.
  5. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 10:56 PM) Boston still has very strong schemes which is where they excel. Allen was not known as a strong defender and neither was Pierce before Thibs. The scheme is what makes them. What you did for Boston and Miami, I can very easily do for the Bulls. Bogans sucks period Rose is still a bad defender Deng is super strong Boozer sucks Noah is strong Brewer is strong Korver sucks Gibson is good In this day in age, with zone defense, it makes no sense to go up and down a player list and say they suck because schemes can hide anyone's bad defense. BTW, I suggest people look at the Hornets game and see what Chris Paul is doing. The way he directs every player and knows every spot and literally points out weaknesses to his players and points of attack are great. I won't even get started on his numbers. Bogans is not a terrible defender. There's a reason why Thibbs is still starting him. It's not because of some stupid man-love (well, maybe it is), but the only reason Bogans is getting minutes is because of his defense and his inconsistent, yet somewhat productive 3 point shooting. He absolutely made Ray Allen look like crap in the last meeting against Boston and he can hold his own against most SGs in the league.
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 08:43 PM) Why not? They're much better defensive teams than Indiana, and have much better players than Indiana. And it's not like Indiana is playing harder than they would, this is the playoffs and everybody plays hard. Neither team has the big-men depth the Pacers have. McRoberts, Hibbert, and Foster (hell, even Hansbrough), as challenged as they are offensively, are guys who can play good enough defense and prevent Rose from having a easy time at the basket. Outside of Garnett, the Celtics interior is quite weak on the defensive end (especially if they don't have Shaq). Bosh is not a strong defender, Joel Anthony is a joke, and Big Z doesn't really pose much of a threat on the inside either for Miami. The Heat got a nice matchup in Philadelphia, who have no guys that can play a tough inside game. If the Heat got the Indiana draw, they would probably be in a similar situation to the Bulls.
  7. That called back 3 was huge. If only Rose had not hurt his ankle...
  8. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 03:34 PM) rose responds to my halftime criticism of his 0 assists with a 7 assist quarter....whered the shooting go that quarter though? another awful % - 4/16 He can't get to the basket with that ankle right now. He basically just has settle for jumpers.
  9. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 02:30 PM) yup, if anything has been proven this series is that if the Bulls are relatively close near the end they can win. Not with a slowed-down Derrick Rose.
  10. Rose should probably sit out the rest of the first half. Get him an hour to rest that ankle.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 10:45 PM) Actually that's exactly what's happening, pay attention and read the post above you. Trying to prove Paul is better than Rose, which is literally retarded. There isn't one gm in the NBA who would agree. He's pointing out flaws in Rose's game, which is fine. I don't care that his agenda is to prove Paul is better than Rose, because you can build a legitimate argument to prove that case. There's numerous numbers out there to prove this and I don't know if I agree with all of them. BUT, that is a better argument than calling somebody a retard for having a legitimate, yet different opinion. Do you know what isn't a legitimate point in the argument you're making? How do you know that no GM in the NBA would trade have Paul instead of Rose? Seriously, how do you know? You really can't prove that. I'm sure the majority would want Rose because he's A) the MVP B) only 22 and C) one of the top 5 NBA players in the league already. Are you insinuating that you think exactly like a GM? That really isn't a legit argument. I don't think "watch the games" is really a legit argument either unless the other person says some random s*** that makes no sense. Seriously, if you're going to make other people respect your argument, at least come up with something that doesn't make them want to chuck their computer out of the window.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 10:38 PM) When you have to go to dissecting 3 point s*** rate to prove a player is better you have already lost the battle. If you had a discussion with anyone in the NBA about who the top 3 players are, is Paul even in the conversation? Nope. Rose is. Nobody is dissecting 3 point shooting percentage to prove Paul is better than Rose. It's parts of Rose's game that he could improve on and shot selection is one of them. If he is as aggressive in the first 40 minutes of the game as he is in the last 8, this argument wouldn't be happening, because Derrick Rose would clearly be the best player in the NBA.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 10:35 PM) Lol, yes it's legitimate that someone who hates the bulls would not like their best player. But arguing that a guy who isn't even in the MVP conversation is better than the 22 year old clear favorite is moronic. You should go read the RealGM general boards. That's some real Derrick Rose hating.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 10:25 PM) Your points are moot since you are a terrible hater. You should enjoy watching winning basketball. I preach exactly what Felix has said. Rose shouldn't be taking so many 3s. It doesn't really benefit him to be chucking so many up at a mediocre percentage. He can shoot 3 of them per game instead of 5 and guys will still play close on him at the perimeter, giving him a good chance to blow past his defender. Rose's mid-range shot is pretty good. He really needs to go back to that more (like 2-3 times more a game) instead of shooting the 3s. I'm not saying Rose should shoot less necessarily, because the Bulls need him to shoot 20-25 times a game to win. It's really just a shot selection thing. I don't know if I agree with Felix that Paul is necessarily better, but there's nothing wrong with what Felix has said. Just because he's not a Bulls fan doesn't mean his opinion doesn't matter.
  15. 12 goals in 5 periods? Holy s***. At least there's a good chance this series goes 7 now. Good to see the Hawks on a roll.
  16. Is this the first game the team has had a lead since the last game of the Oakland series?
  17. Jesus christ Foster's foul on Deng was a f***ing wrestling move, except this is an actual hit in the head, not pretend. He should be suspended for that.
  18. How bad were Foster's fouls? I didn't see the first 47:30 of the game.
  19. My god Rose was terrible. 4-18 and 5 TOs. He and Boozer were terrible on offense. Can't argue with the game winning shot though. Good thing Deng and Korver showed up.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) They switched defenders on him(wasn't Fisher the whole game) and he basically just disappeared in the 4th quarter. Wasn't one of his better efforts, that's for sure. Thought so. That's the kind of defense that's been on Derrick Rose all season (especially in the playoffs).
  21. I didn't have a chance to watch the game, but CP3's line tonight was quite mediocre (for him) and regular-season like. Did the Lakers finally give him more attention on defense?
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 01:42 AM) <!--quoteo(post=2359119:date=Apr 20, 2011 -> 12:32 AM:name=JorgeFabregas)-->QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 12:32 AM) <!--quotec-->Looks like Rose had a higher defensive win share than Paul this year and equal points allowed per 100 possessions. I don't know enough about basketball metrics to evaluate that, but there it is. As for the Paul/Rose debate, Rose is my #1 with a close Paul, when he's healthy. What's worse is when Rondo gets brought into these debates. It's Rose vs. Paul, with Williams getting the bronze. Then let Westbrook and Nash duke it out for 4th. Rondo's such a horrific shooter that he shouldn't even be in the discussion right now. He was Brandon Jennings bad this year when it came to efficiency.
  23. We're 17 games into the season. Pressing the panic button now is silly.
  24. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 08:52 PM) Just Fine≠Difference Maker. Paul, James, Howard, Wade all excel on both ends. Say whatever you want about DRtg (how team-oriented it is, etc), but Rose has one of the top marks for a PG in the game this year at 103. He's tied with CP3, good for second behind Rondo. http://www.basketball-reference.com/league...nced_stats.html
