Mariners (Felix 7-6, 2.75) @ White Sox (Danksy 10-7, 3.37 ERA)
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 06:04 PM) Yeah, something like that.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 06:01 PM) The Kotsay situation is reminding me of Dusty Baker and his non-stop love for Neifi Perez Or the Darin Erstad situation. Erstad and Kotsay are incredibly similar players. Both were once good at defense. Both played center and 1B later on in their careers. Both have a career OPS around .750. Both are grindy. And Ozzie likes both.

Twins set for trade with Blue Jays
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 05:57 PM) Frasor's a huge Sox fan. If he's traded, he better remember his roots. No wonder he gave up a game-tying home run to Mark Teahen.

I need to start making Kotsay meme images to describe the FAILness of his baseball ability.

Twins set for trade with Blue Jays
Apparently, the AA pitcher that was going to be called up, Brad Mills, is getting the call up because the Blue Jays have a double header on Wednesday.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 05:26 PM) Ozzie gets a pass today because of who we're facing tonight. But yeah, it's a joke that Viciedo hasn't seen more PT. Has Brent Lillibridge even touched a bat or glove these past two weeks? You can't somehow DH him or play him in right field to keep him somewhat warm? He was hitting the ball with some authority when he played. He gave you much more than Kotsay and Jones.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 05:47 PM) Is true. I wish Byrnes were still GM, he and Kenny had a good trading relationship. But Dipoto is stupid. I'd rather deal with a stupid GM than a decent one.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 05:45 PM) I don't think Kenny wants to trade Santos for some reason. Holmberg/Rodriguez/Santeliz/Nunez/Bellamy/Torres That's 4 BP arms and 2 starters, right? Last time I checked, Arizona wanted quantity over quality, so let's do it!

Twins set for trade with Blue Jays
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 05:40 PM) You surely see something I don't. Unless they're moving to the central or west, they've got no chance in that monster of a division. AA has made a couple of really good deals and they have a nice group of players in Hill, Lind, Escobar, Lewis, and Bautista. I understand that they're in the East, but given that this current team is a .500 team with Hill and Lind doing absolutely nothing, they have the potential to be a 88-90 win team with some smart moves as early as next season.

Twins set for trade with Blue Jays
He has two more years of arbitration remaining. I'm assuming he'll make $5-6 million next year and $7-9 in 2012. Marcum has some very questionable mechanics, which is why he need TJS to begin with. So he'll probably deal with arm issues down the line as well. Maybe this is why the Blue Jays are willing to deal him. They're rebuilding, but Marcum would be a good part of their future. Trading him away, even if he gets you a Ben Revere or a Wilson Ramos, isn't the best idea because I see this Jays team competing as early as next season. Maybe they're worried about his health.

Twins set for trade with Blue Jays
This really scares me. http://www.1500espn.com/sportswire/Twins_c...al_with_Toronto Ken Rosenthal tweeted that Toronto is calling up a AA pitcher to pitch on Wedesnday and that's Marcum's day to start. Not only is Marcum a really good pitcher, he also owns us with his changeup, one of the best in baseball. We have a lot of games left with the Twins...

NBA Offseason Thread
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 05:15 PM) He said "we" a lot. I almost just want to sign T-Mac because of his excitement. He really seems like he knows he'd have to earn that starting spot by playing well enough to get it. And because he's T-Mac. There's always some kind of glowing excitement over plays who used to be really good.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 04:45 PM) Beckham is 4 for his last 19 for a .211 BA. He looked really bad yesterday.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 04:57 PM) I wouldn't be against this scenario. Santos + Torres/Rodriguez/Holmberg can easily get you Jackson.

Dan Haren traded to the Angels
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 04:55 PM) I'm still in shock. How the hell did they (the Angels) pull this s*** off? Unbelievable. And shame on us for not swooping in and making a legitimate play. f*** the offense. There's no realistic bat out there that we could get that would make us a more dangerous team than if we added Haren to the rotation. I still wonder how teams like the Cardinals didn't go out and make an offer of Miller, Salas, and Hawksworth for Haren. That package is probably better than what the Dbacks got. I really doubt Haren would reject a deal to St. Louis. He was drafted by them.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
Since Washington really likes Jackson, maybe Kenny should try to get Jackson straight from Arizona and then flip him to Washington for Dunn. After all, I would think that getting Jackson alone will be cheaper than getting Dunn. If you can't flip Jackson for Dunn, you get yourself a guy with a 4.3 FIP, which isn't the worst thing that can happen. Jackson would then be the 4th or 5th starter on this team.

Dan Haren traded to the Angels
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 04:48 PM) Not a good combination considering the launching pad Chase Field is. It's actually 43 home runs, I forgot to add 10 for some reason. He's been averaging about 23-24 home runs allowed. That's about what Haren did, but at least Haren would strike a ton of guys out while limiting his walks. Saunders strikes out about half the guys Haren does and walks more while giving up as many, if not more home runs.

White Sox Trade Catch-All
Twins are set to acquire somebody from Toronto. Most likely Frasor or Downs. Maybe even Shaun Marcum. I would be scared if it was Marcum. That guy owns us.

Numbers please
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 04:46 PM) He'd still put up better numbers than Kotsay while on the DL. Mark Kotsay's been worth -0.8 WAR so far. Quite frankly, everybody that hasn't played for the White Sox this year has been better than him.
-
Jorge Cantu to the Rangers
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 04:38 PM) Mark Kotsay would be an upgrade over Davis. Smoak wasn't hitting all that much better when he was there either. My point exactly. It isn't hard to be better than Davis right now, even though Cantu hasn't been good this year.

Jorge Cantu to the Rangers
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 04:28 PM) Did he get released? He probably should be released. A 1B/3B with a .315 wOBA and bad defense has very little value.

Dan Haren traded to the Angels
Another thing with Saunders is that he gives up a lot of home runs. He's served up 33 home runs these past two years. For a ground ball pitcher, that's pretty bad.

White Sox Trade Catch-All
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) Its not about production, its about versatility I still can't believe that they thought Kotsay could play the OF, yet he's only played 5 games. What versatility?

White Sox Trade Catch-All
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) We saw why in The Club. JR stated how "we like to pick up guys after a down year or 2 that want to prove something". That's fine and dandy if the said player still had something left in the tank. Like J.J. Putz. That's definitely not the case with Kotsay. You can't keep getting crap off the scrap heap and hope it turns into gold. It's not the formula of building a successful team.
