QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 05:14 PM) The GG officially died when Franklin Gutierrez, who had one of the most spectacular defensive seasons EVER, didn't get it last year. It officially died long, long before that though.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 04:56 PM) Rosenthal says KW is confident he can get either Dunn or Fielder. And I'm confident he will give up Hudson if he does get one of them.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 04:21 PM) He's having a good year, but really he is not even one of the ten best OFs fielding-wise in the AL. I couldn't name off the top of my head ten better, but trust me here. He also has a noodle arm which is big in defense value. Good year, but not great. In fact, I would argue Alex is a better fielder than Juan and more deserving of a gold glove despite not being super great either. Rios is a lot better than Pierre. But Juan is third amongst all LFers in UZR, noodle arm or not.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 04:24 PM) My ears hurt Grace and Rose are just terrible. They really don't have much of an idea what the hell they're talking about. Grace thinks Hudson's dominated his last two starts. No he hasn't...

NBA Offseason Thread
Read somewhere that D-Rose wants T-Mac on the Bulls, said T-Mac was his favorite player in 6th grade. Oh Derrick...

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 04:12 PM) Wasn't Freddy's last bad start also a day game? Yeah he sucks during the day. Oakland's also 22-10 during the day, best mark in baseball. It's gotta have something to do with the Coliseum. I hear hitting is horrible during the day there.

Who cares about Gold Gloves anyways? It's not like the best fielders even get them.

When Freddy's bad, he's real bad.

Diaz missed 5 pitches in that inning. 5 pretty blatant strikes called balls.

That gun Fox has is really slow. They had Freddy at 84-86 in that first. Freddy got as high as 88 with pitch f/x

Didn't we win??
QUOTE (ICP! @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 01:40 PM) I find it amazing how hard you guys are on Whitesox outfielders defense on this board throughout the years . If guys arent playing to the caliber of a Rios or Brian f'ing Anderson they are shredding a new one by everybody on here. LOL It's because JD and Quentin are terrible. Although I do remember somebody saying Dewayne Wise sucked at defense, that was uncalled for.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 11:31 AM) I'd be disappointed going .500 against the likes of Seattle and Oakland. We're a division leader for crying out loud. We need to beat up on these teams. I would have expected a split at the Twins. We probably should have split with Minni and swept Seattle, but hey, remember when the thought of playing in Oakland and Minnesota scared us? If you come away with a .500 record, it's not the end of the world. You'd like 6-4, but 5-5 is acceptable. Especially since everybody else in the division plays like s*** on the road.
-
7/24 GT: Sox @ A's - 3:10 CDT - FOX
I'll take a .500 road trip, especially since the A's and Twins aren't pushovers.

Betemit's actually playing pretty well, but I'm not expecting this to last.
