  1. There's nothing sillier than a couple of "tough-guy, bad-ass wannabes" posting on an internet message board.
  2. Anna Nicole Smith was a former Playboy playmate who married a rich guy and got all his money after he died. Now she's a cow with her own show on "E" showing what a remarkable human she is.
  3. Smirnoff is famous for vodka and they also sell a bunch of "malt beverages" (Smirnoff Ice, Smirnoff Triple Black)
  4. Numbers like that skew real stats. Mark has 10 quality starts this year; Yes, he's struggled, but it's not completely his fault.
  5. Holy s***... I am looking forward to having to play Reed as the 4th outfielder out of neccessity behind Ordonez (LF), Webster (CF), and Borchard (RF)... Hmmm... Think the Sox should try and move him to first? Or maybe Joe?
  6. God damn... How many completely and utterly absurd unintelligent comments can one person make in a day?
  7. I think there's a large majority of us who have been wondering this same question.
  8. imo frank hasn't changed a thing and hasn't learned a thing. in two, three weeks he'll once again open his stupid yap and prove he's one of the dumber players in the game. i would bet he was coached in his latest quote. i have always appreciated thomas's hitting contributions to the sox efforts, but i really really wish that he'd been traded at the end of the 2000 season (btw i've stated this since the end of the 2000 season). nothing has changed and his latest quote won't change any 'basher's" mind. he's done some unforgivably stupid things, caused all kinds of morale problems with this team, and has not played hard when it was called for. i'm not saying he hasn't been a talented (even great) hitter (in a very one dimensional kind of way), i'm saying he's not a player who represents the style that best exemplifies the chicago white sox ... to me. as for him retiring in a sox uniform .... give me a break. who cares? (i know .... YOU do) i'm a sox fan ... not hung up on one player who's been nothing but controversy for the last 7 years or so. i may have felt differently had he just shut up, honored his contract a couple years ago without the fuss he made, and played the damn game. you want to put this jerk on a pedestal, go ahead. don't expect 'bashers' (who, oddly enough, seem to think THEY are justified in their opinions) to do the same. .314 career BA, 392 career homeruns and 1320 career RBIs. Hes the best hitter weve ever had. And he wants to be here too, unlike yalls beloved MB. The man is a legend on the Southside. And I will always support him. Great post Ncorgbl!!!!!!!! Or he's just never said he wants to go anywhere. I wouldn't be surprised to see Frank elsewhere in '04.
  9. Christian. I love irony.

    Age difference

I think he's dead already. There was a court battle over money he left her in his will if I remember correctly. Yeah, he's dead. I don't think she married an old, rich guy for love.
  11. Give it a month or two and he'll be MB's biggest backer. Guaranteed.
  12. Buehrle will be fine. I remember a certain 300-win club member who was "over the hill" a couple of years ago.
  13. So in other words, you ride the short bus to school?
  14. On the same subject, I went to school with a kid who thought the sun and moon where the same thing (no joke) and attends the University of Notre Dame on a full scholarship because he can hit people hard.
  15. Then you haven't lived, my friend. Anyways, back to the original topic of the thread, I used to have a beat up old laptop my dad "borrowed" from work that had to have been 4-5 years old, but my family pitched in and got me a Presario 2800 for graduation last year. It's sweet.
  16. Going to South Carolina, we drove right by Normal. Central Illinois and Indiana are f***ing boring. Iowa State is the real ISU. The entire Midwest (Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas, North Dakota, South Dakota, eastern Colorado, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Kentucky, southern Georgia, and the Florida panhandle) are all relatively boring with the exception of a few places (Chicago, New Orleans, St. Louis, Milwaukee to name a few). From what I've seen 99.999999% of this country is one big yawn.

    Summer

I didn't know that, all I knew was that the repition of lifting weights prematuraly forces the cartilage in growing bones vital for vertical growth (like your legs and arms) to harden quicker. But actually, that would f*** with the chemicals and hormones in your body, so yeah, I could see how that would happen.
  18. Agreed. ACT's are pretty easy. I got a 29 overall (thats with a mere 23 on the english section), while hungover. Only thing that might trip you up is the time limits. They set that test up to ensure you can do a certain amount of work in a certain amount of time... and on some of the sections it gets really really rough for people that dont read very fast... thankfully i do. I agree... The ACTs are a joke... 27 a little tipsy, running on 3 1/2 hours of sleep, and with no calculator. Standardized tests are a waste of time.

Technically you shouldn't start lifting until your late teen years, otherwise it will stunt your growth vertically.
  20. That's different... Right now, I don't know if anyone on this roster is not tradeable for the right price (except Ordonez and Olivo becasue they are studs). But I'm sure if you look back at posts somewhere along the lines of "JON GARLAND SUCKS! DUMP HIS WORTHLESS ASS! HE'S THE WORST PITCHER IN BASEBALL..." Etc.
  21. Thank God none of you who wanted to dump him at the start of the year are running the show.
  22. Please no one mention Maggs in centerfield. The last thing we need to do is give the guy a hamstring injury.
  23. Compared to some of the pitching talent the Sox have, Stewart faces an uphill battle... I think the best projection for him would be an improved version of Gary Glover or Sean Lowe... Solid spot starter, great out of the 'pen. Best thing that kid's got going for him is he's a lefty.
