  1. Kopech and Vaughn are top 25 prospects in the sport. Vaughn will be a top 10 prospect at some publications and he plays 1B. The White Sox shouldn't be trading guys like that. Spend some of the cheapskate owner's money instead.
  2. Andrew Vaughn and Michael Kopech are two of the top 25 prospects in baseball. There's no chance in hell that the Rays land both of them for Snell. The dude threw 100 innings in 2019 and 50 in 2020. I wouldn't even headline a package with 1 of them and I understand how awesome Snell is. When your owner is Jerry Reinsdorf and you don't consistently play at the top of the free agent market, you can't trade close to big league ready potential stars. It just doesn't make sense. I'd make a quantity deal with Cease, Dunning, Madrigal etc and if that isn't enough, just trade for Lynn or Musgrove instead. Kopech and Vaughn are too important IMO. I doubt the Rays get 1 prospect ranked as highly as either of Kopech or Vaughn. The problem is the Sox don't have enough guys in that 30-100 overall range prospect wise.
  3. Jeremy Haber could be in play but it's a lateral move for Hahn.
  4. Great question. There are definitely guys that sign for under $1 million that turn into absolute studs. The Sox don't do that well enough. Here's the thing though, these trainers have lots of different players. Sometimes a team will sign a guy for $3 million and also get a discount on other players represented by the same trainer so they get more bites at the apple. Paddy could be better and identify better talent. The biggest issue though is that these guys reach agreement at 14 years old in most cases and the Sox generally wait. That's why they're able to capitalize when an Oscar Colas or Norge Vera comes available. They're often one of the only teams with $$ left.
  5. Marco Paddy met with the media last week and we weren't invited to participate but I decided to write about him anyway: https://www.futuresox.com/2020/11/23/outside-the-spotlight-marco-paddy-adds-to-white-sox-international-infrastructure-despite-challenges/
  6. What is there to be skeptical of? Arizona placed a guy that the White Sox scouts liked on waivers. The White Sox claimed him. This sort of thing happens every offseason for every team.
  7. He’ll be starting in AA and that’s what he should be doing. He needs innings. He’ll likely be up in September and playoffs out of bullpen though.
  8. I'm expecting Tyler Johnson and Gavin Sheets to get protected.
  9. The Sox blogs would love to if we had acces to the audio.
  10. Stop being such an asshole. Someone boot this clown.
  11. Was always well regarded as a player. Spanish speaking. Played for lots of teams. Very adept at analytics. Coming from Yankees structure is a benefit. Well regarded infield instructor. Cairo wasn't on my radar but I'm glad they went outside the organization for bench coach and pitching coach.
  12. Miguel Cairo as the bench coach is solid. I'm glad they went outside the organization.
  13. I don't think it's a bad salary though.
  14. Okay so here's the thing. I saw some confusion yesterday and I'll try to clear it up. I think the White Sox are more likely to trade for pitching if they get an impact guy. They're absolutely interested in George Springer. Will they get him? I have no idea. I'm not sure how soon he even wants to sign but I think the White Sox are approaching it the same way they did with Grandal. Whether it works or not will be determined later I guess. It's insane the number of fake/insider accounts out there right now. It won't dissuade anyone but I've never needed a nonsense account. I just post from mine. I also run the FutureSox one sometimes and one for the track and field team I coach. I don't have time for another account and if I did, it wouldn't be as clever. The Portillos one actually has some solid intel if you go back to last year which is strange. I think everyone should be patient but I know that won't happen.
  15. I'd give up Nick Madrigal and Dane Dunning in a heartbeat for Darvish. 3/59 is a bargain.
  16. This didn't happen. Hoyer was already in Chicago by then. San Diego had Josh Byrnes I believe.
  17. I’d be stunned if the Sox left Charlotte. Kannapolis also has a brand new ballpark. Putting Low A local and closer to Arizona makes some sense but going to Rochester doesn’t make any sense at all.
  18. Yes. Trying hard for one of them currently.
  19. What do you mean by spend money? They’ll make additions. Maybe one significant addition. They aren’t signing Springer and Bauer though or something.
  20. On Friday, the White Sox need to add players to the 40-man in order to protect them from the Rule 5 Draft. Jake Burger, Gavin Sheets, Tyler Johnson and Will Kincanon are the most likely. I wrote about it here: https://www.futuresox.com/2020/11/16/40-man-roster-decisions-and-2020-rule-5-draft-implications/
  21. Very possible. You need to find the team that thinks he can start and move him before finding out then.
  22. Lots of projection. Gonna take awhile but that's fine. I'm a fan as well. Lower ceiling than Thompson but more likely to reach it.
