Opening Day 26-Man Roster
I don’t think it’s going to be White. He’s in Charlotte rotation. I’m curious to see what they do. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them DFA or release Carela at this point. They can’t put him on 60-day since they sent him down. They can’t carry him all season. He’s on the IL.

2025 MiLB Catch All thread
The lineup at Charlotte will be awesome and the pitching staff in Birmingham will be unbelievable.

How do you rank Chris Getz' GM tenure so far?
Have I been doing this? If you mean the Crochet return, I don’t agree on that timeline. Those guys will be arb eligible by then. I don’t think I really declared victory on any that are that far away.

I hope they lose enough to have the top odds at landing the #1 pick. It's a significant part of this working. I do think people are being short-sighted in some regard. Focusing on the big league record too much just doesn't make much sense to me right now. Comparing to Dave Dombrowski doesn't really make sense. He only goes places where he can spend lots and lots of money on players.

They have no money spend and they’re trying to be really bad again this year. This shouldn’t be this difficult to comprehend

I think Martin will prove to be very valuable this season and he costs nothing. They have a top 50 prospect in baseball who plays shortstop already but yeah, the Robert trade return and next two drafts are very important. I don’t care about their W/L record from last year and I certainly don’t care about it this year either. It doesn’t matter all that much. We don’t know the outcome of the Crochet deal but they did extremely well on paper and with their process. I’ll ignore the other comment but it’s kind of a low blow. Don’t question my standards in regards to my day job.

I think everyone is being way too short-sighted. I understand the lack of patience though. There’s a clear plan in place. Chris Getz totally revamped the organization in regards to pitching philosophy, hitting philosophy, research and development, international scouting and professional scouting and for the first time in like 25 years, linked all the different departments together. It had to be done. I don’t know that it’ll work because ultimately, they need to find good players but these changes put them in a better place to find good players. The trades have been uneven at best and while the draft record appears to be promising, we just don’t know yet. They’ll be awful in 2025 by design though. The owner won’t allow the front office to spend and it’s also imperative to draft as high as possible in 2026 so being a bottom 3 team this year is essential. They have to get more out of trades too and Luis Robert package has to hit like Crochet deal. They also need some surprise trade return somewhere like a monster Davis Martin package. In an optimistic view, they have a top farm system and clean financial outlook going forward. They’ll never spend as much as we want but I do believe they’ll spend because they have to. They have no commitments. I do think Chris Getz understands the assignment more than his predecessors though. He knows who he works for. Build a large core of young pitching, find a process to develop bats and focus on premium positions. They can spend on first base, DH, back end starters and bullpen once the time comes if you have a cost-controlled young core. It’s hard to give a grade. I’d probably go with a C overall but it’ll depend on drafting and developing players ultimately.

Drury Released, Varland Sent Down
Because of bad performances in exhibition games?
-
Drury Released, Varland Sent Down
No idea. Guessing he’s out for a couple months. Just meant that it’s 3 players who were penciled into opening day.

Drury Released, Varland Sent Down
Sounds like none of Drury, Tauchman or Rojas will be ready for opening day. Find me 13 position players.

Dan Bernstein FIRED!
Yeah I mean he was never going to harm someone’s kids. It’s the equivalent of me saying that I’d f*** someone’s mother. I’m sure Audacy is thrilled to cut his salary in this climate.

Dan Bernstein FIRED!
I’ve been listening to Bernstein for 20 years. I can’t believe what he did last week. It’s why the mute button exists. If you can’t handle shitty assholes on Twitter right now, you need to delete the app. With that being said, 670 lost their two best hosts in last 7 months. They need a major lineup overhaul.

Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
We recorded with Dan Hayes and he was excellent. He talked about the trade discussions between the Sox and Twins at last year’s deadline. I’m sorry to inform that Luke Keashall was never available.

The next round of cuts
I think Davis Martin is better than that. My prediction is that he puts up an All Star caliber season. His changeup is a game changer

3/15 - Rox @ Sox (whitesox.com stream), Sox @ D-backs - split squad
I don’t think it affects Sosa at all. He won’t be playing shortstop. Try and come up with 13 players without Meidroth. It’s not easy.

Nothing left to prove in AAA. His success in that league is much more important than anything that has happened this spring. I'm hoping he's the opening day shortstop.
-
Opening Day 26-Man Roster
The only way to get a draft pick for someone winning ROY is if they’re in 2/3 top 100 lists like BA, pipeline and ESPN. Shane Smith and Meidroth wouldn’t qualify
-
Shortstop Candidates
That's not what the article said. He's playing shortstop.
-
Berroa, Carela getting TJ
He’ll go on 60 day when they need a spot
-
The next round of cuts
Drew Thorpe is fine and pitching. Blake Larson, Berroa, Bush and Carela all having TJS. Pitchers break. They need a lot of them.

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
No shot. Getz is very safe. Jerry Reinsdorf doesn’t fire people

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
It's actually from a Hayes tweet. My bad. Look in the article we posted at FutureSox: https://www.futuresox.net/2025/02/24/ishbia-brothers-increase-white-sox-in/

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
No you’re not correct. Try to keep up. The important parts are Ishbia dropping Twins bid after being really far down the road toward ownership and the Reinsdorf’s approaching Ishbia as the impetus to buy more shares and drop the Twins. Those are the most importabt details. I have no idea when Ishbia might get control of the White Sox. But I’m pretty certain that he didn’t give up the Twins for a coke and a smile and the chance to help Jerry Reinsdorf build a new stadium.
