  1. How though? They can't carry 6 outfielders on the roster with 13 pitchers and 13 position player requirement.
  2. It makes a lot more sense in that case but the offers need to improve greatly for that to happen I'd think.
  3. Fine but will they roster 6 outfielders? I'm sure he wouldn't be opposed but that doesn't matter. He's out of options. Canario literally needs to be on the 26-man roster or he'll be DFA again.
  4. I feel like Canario is unlikely. The White Sox would likely claim him and let him compete for a spot but you can't trade anything for him because I doubt they'd release Michael Taylor or Austin Slater for him. Canario would need to make the club out of spring training or be DFA again.
  5. I wrote about some college options for the Sox and I’m waiting on bonus pools: https://www.futuresox.net/2025/02/19/white-sox-2025-mlb-draft-notebook-2-0/
  6. It's very likely that all of these pitchers will get hurt at some point because pitchers inevitably break. Hagen Smith and Grant Taylor have both already had Tommy John though.
  7. Like Garrett Crochet?
  8. Agreed but I hate the assertion that those deals Rick Hahn signed were a mistake. They didn’t work but the alternative could’ve been those players being good and ownership being unwilling to pay market rate.
  9. Still a perfectly fine trade Yeah he’ll receive a year of service.
  10. Apparently. It’s the ideal time for it but sucks for the kid regardless. Would’ve been really limited this first season anyway.
  11. For the record, I couldn’t care less who believes and who doesn’t.
  12. Mike Shirley is actually good at his job though. Lots of others were replaced. He did draft Chris Getz though haha Being skeptical of ownership is totally warranted. Jerry is awful. It’s a very different organization right now though below ownership. I mean Rosenthal and Passan wrote entire articles on the organizational change. Merkin, DVS and others reported heavily on the research and development, international and hitting infrastructure hires. This info has been out there for anyone who was interested in being open minded. We don’t know if it’ll work because they ultimately need to develop players. However, they’ve put themselves in a much better position and situation to actually be able to develop players.
  13. MLB Pipeline hasn't ranked systems yet but Fangraphs released their top 100 today with 6 White Sox and Grant Taylor checking in at #94. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2025-top-100-prospects/
  14. Been talking about these changes all year on the FutureSox podcast. The article from Fegan was really informative today. Highly recommend for all. Come on, man. You know Chris Getz sucks, the White Sox are doomed and everything is fucked.
  15. They weren't planning on going 41-121 but they definitely planned on finishing in last place Right but it wouldn't have been enough at the time and I'm not even sure they would've gotten what I proposed. I just don't think trading with Robert that first winter with four years of control after the season he had was even a realistic possibility. I'd love to know what the offers were though.
  16. I’m legitimately stunned by the discourse on this. It’s all hindsight. There’s no reason that a team would’ve seen that deal as a two year with two options. He looked like a total bargain after 2023. The Sox would’ve needed two top 50 prospects in baseball, another org top ten and another good prospect and it probably would’ve been seen as light in December 2023.
  17. They weren't going to get value for Luis Robert on his contract with four years left though. Not everything has to be someone's fault.
  18. It’s not this easy. They gambled that Robert would be good in 2024 so they could more realistically get a trade return with 3.5 years of control. Now they have 3 years of control. What type of package would you have needed in the winter of 2023 to trade Robert with 4 years of control?
  19. I just think this was very unrealistic in hindsight. The offers for 4 years of Luis Robert coming off a 38 homer season would’ve needed to be astronomical. They would’ve gotten more than they’d get now but nobody expected the 2024 he had. Getz would’ve been crucified for trading Robert during his first winter in charge because regardless of the return, it wouldn’t have been enough for 4 years of a superstar.
  20. Right. I'm pretty confident that they'll be able to go out and grab a first baseman or a left fielder or a mid-rotation starter or even a great closer. The other players probably need to be in your org already though.
  21. The bottom line is that 5/75 in the largest contract in franchise history. They’ve offered other players over $100 million but that doesn’t really matter. They’ll offer players over $100 million again and I’d bet that Chris Getz is the GM who signs multiple $100 million contracts. They have no money on the books going forward. They’ll use free agency again. The biggest issue is that he’ll need to build a team of homegrown players at premium positions because ownership will never spend at the top of the market for star players. There are ways around that but you have to be really good at scouting and development.
  22. It wasn’t even leaked by the White Sox initially though, it was leaked by the agent. The Sox signed Grandal and then they offered Wheeler 5/125. The agent reportedly told Hahn that they had a deal. Wheeler’s wife preferred the East coast and Wheeler took 5/118 from Philly instead. The agent leaked to media that Sox had highest offer because of future clients and a good relationship with Sox. s%*# happens. The pivot to Keuchel and Encarnacion didn’t work out obviously.
  23. I actually do think velocity was a significant issue last season.
