2016-2017 NBA Thread
QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 09:19 AM) Fans need to boycott Bulls games until one or both of them are fired. Talk about being unqualified for the job and underperforming. Bulls fans are sheep. They are #1 in attendance. This was interesting from Chad Ford's mock draft though: 17. Chicago Bulls Jarrett Allen Texas Freshman Center The Bulls are a mess and the rumblings that there could be major changes to the front office and team this summer appear well-founded. Trying to discern what's next for them, given the team chaos, is difficult. Allen is a project, but an intriguing one. His defense is ahead of his offense right now, but over the course of the past few weeks he has been making major offensive strides as well. He seems to be coming on at the right time and could be a nice backup to Robin Lopez for the next year or two while he adds strength and experience.

Teams have upped their offers in Q derby in the last week
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 09:07 AM) Hahn has continued to insist that the White Sox will not compromise on Quintana...meaning they still are firm on the Musgrove + Martes + Tucker asking price I'd be open to a depth package, but if no Musgrove then I'd need Franklin Perez and AJ Reed to make up for it We have no idea if they asked for Musgrove, Martes, and Tucker though. That seemed like something floated to Gammons.

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Feb 8, 2017 -> 08:18 AM) Is there a test for CTE that can be run on living subjects? No. You need to analyze the brain after death. You can suspect that one has it because of symptoms though.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 08:05 PM) Nah, just growing tired of the minute by minute overreaction circle jerk on this board. LOL I don't expect it to stop anytime soon with this freak show in office.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 02:03 PM) The hope is the GOP remembers it wants LESS governmental control. Because an unqualified moron just bought herself a cabinet position. Me and my colleague were debating earlier how much actual money I'd pay to watch her get eaten by a grizzly bear.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 11:41 AM) DeVos has got to be the most plainly unqualified Cabinet member ever, right? At least since the modern, post-spoils system reforms in the late 19th century. Yeah probably. I teach Special Ed Reading at a very good Junior High in Will County. She's terrible but at least the Department of Ed doesn't really have as much of an impact as people think. Mostly done at the state and local level. It'd still frightening that they bought her way to that job though.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 12:06 PM) Are you a Bama fan? He would most likely kill it there. I'm not a "fan" of a college team. It would be fun though.

President Donald Trump: The Thread
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 11:37 AM) DeVos gets in, might as well cancel the rest of the hearings as they're pointless. Next Sessions will get in, so the only one able to stop Trump will be the courts. But probably still get 30 hours for him, Price and Mnuchin. Trump promising to fight refugee ban to Supreme Court. Sigh. Hopefully, people get so angry that they just start murdering politicians in their homes. Won't see any fake tears shed from this guy.

Predict Thy Numbers: Derek Holland
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 10:23 AM) Not expecting much from him at all. 5-11, 4.82 ERA, 143 K's, 1.47 WHIP, 6.2 K/9, and -0.2 WAR in 26 starts I'm hoping Holland is decent enough to move in July for something.

Predict Thy Numbers: Charlie Tilson
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 10:14 AM) That lineup. Woof. Although I'd like to see Tilson in the 2 spot to see if he can handle it. I also don't see any way Davidson would hit 5th consistently unless they are full on tanking. Other than Lawrie, Isn't he just as likely to hit as anyone listed before him? At least he hits for power. I'd rather play him every day than waste any more time on Avisail Garcia. I like the bets hitter at #2 which is my I put Abreu there. Let Frazier and Melky rack up the RBI's and get them out of here.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 10:19 AM) I always enjoyed their Bears coverage simply because they cover them for a living (or at least one of them does). They are very knowledgeable about that stuff, but overall they don't bring much to the table entertainment wise. Mully used to have a segment of his show called the Draft War Room and specifically talk draft. This morning he barely knew who Patrick Mahomes was and wasn't sure if all the juniors had declared for the draft yet.

Predict Thy Numbers: Charlie Tilson
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 10:07 AM) How can people think we are going to be better than next year lol No idea. The bullpen is good. But even with Q and Rodon, it's still Gonzo, Shields, and Holland. They could all be terrible. Guys will continue to get traded as the season goes along too. Sox are a bottom 3 team IMO.

Predict Thy Numbers: Charlie Tilson
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 09:53 AM) You guys think he will lead off next year? No. I think he hits 9th probably. Tim Anderson should leadoff so he gets the most at-bats. 1. T. Anderson SS 2. J. Abreu 1B 3. M.Cabrera LF 4. T. Frazier 3B 5. M. Davidson DH 6. B. Lawrie 2B 7. A. Garcia RF 8. G. Soto C 9. C. Tilson CF That's a bad lineup and way RH.

Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 08:01 AM) You could probably say that about every team. Who doesn't explore everything? Sean Sears makes up stories. Nothing to see here.

Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 6, 2017 -> 01:42 PM) The idea that's been kicked around ad-nauseum is Q deal to Pirates for Glasnow, Newman, Keller and someone like Diaz while flipping Glasnow and Robertson for Robles. I doubt the Nats trade Robles for anyone. They would have for Sale but he'll be their CF in 2 years when Harper leaves.

Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 6, 2017 -> 09:12 AM) Robertson + $10 million for Juan Soto and Pedro Severino. That's the deal I wanted then and the deal I want now. I don't really have any interest in Severino. I doubt the Nationals would trade Juan Soto but he'd be a great get. I'd offer Robertson and $12 million for LHP Jesus Lazardo and SS Yasel Antuna. Lazardo was a 2nd rounder this year out of HS. He would have been a top 20 type if he didn't have TJS his senior year. Antuna is a tools infielder that signed for $3.9 million as an international guy this year.

Robertson to WASH was close, now at stalemate
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 6, 2017 -> 07:30 AM) So let me get this straight, the Nationals don't want to absorb Robertson's entire contract nor do they want to move additional prospects. Don't really see why we'd make a deal if the best we can do is a partial salary dump. I'd ask for LHP Jesus Lazardo and Yasel Antuna. Both are super young and far away but I'd rather have the upside than a limited upside guy like Stevenson or Severino. If the Nationals want the Sox to pay a bunch of the contract though they should probably keep him until the deadline. Screw Ted Lerner. That guy is the 2nd richest owner in the game, has a 2 year window with Bryce Harper and is pinching pennies.

Teams have upped their offers in Q derby in the last week
QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Feb 5, 2017 -> 08:51 PM) Because whether the trade happens in the next few weeks or at the deadline "soon" is vague enough to cover all basis for him. Doesn't exactly take a genius to know Q will be traded sooner or later. If he was really that confident he would have been more specific about the trade happening before the season. He said it would be before spring training and the WBC and that Rodon would be the story of camp. He's been consistently saying he's gone before the season starts.

Teams have upped their offers in Q derby in the last week
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 02:22 PM) We have not had any indication that talks have advanced or that any deal for Quintana is close Offers have been exchanged, but neither the Pirates or Astros are blinking as of yet The Rangers rumor appeared to be a White Sox generated leak to stir the pot Nightengale said that Houston and White Sox are re-engaged on talks. Levine has been saying for weeks that Q goes before the season starts.

Rangers have increased pursuit of Q?
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 01:59 PM) And that would be basically #30 draft slot money. Big deal. It's not like a top of the line guy is dropping. And then your pool is depleted for the 75th on down. Teams draft multiple guys in the top 10 picks for $100,000 or less and save $$ for after all the time, White Sox included. If a player drafted in the top 10 rounds doesn't sign, then the team loses the ability to spend that bonus money. It's a big reason why college seniors start getting drafted in rounds 8-10 and players drafted in rounds 11-19 make more than $100,000 to sign.

2016-2017 NFL Thread
QUOTE (ptatc @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 02:00 PM) The Bears have always been known for their poor healthcare. Always rank toward the top in medical lawsuits. It's been better since Michael Mccaskey is no longer in charge. I would wager he is behind this one. I just read more about it and Bernstein is talking about it now. It's not as egregious as it sounded. Multiple states are doing it or don't include professional athletes in the first place. It's about wage differential. You can earn wage differential for workman's comp issues through the age of 67. It was intended to benefit pipe fitters, bus drivers, etc. McCaskey's and the other 4 pro teams in Chicago are on board with getting the age changed to 35. Lawyers have been arguing that players should receive wage differential through the age of 67 even though they'd be retired long before then and winning by the letter of Illinois law. It's very specific.
