Projected Top 10 Prospects Post Draft/Pre July 2
Y2Jimmy0 replied to ChiSoxJon's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 09:03 PM) As far as Engel goes, it would be nice to see him put up an OPS challenging 800 in AAA. At the major league level, right now....he's more similar to Jackson stats-wise, but more reminiscent of Eaton in terms of physical tools. In most organizations, that would be a 4th outfielder. As long as he can have a respectable OBP, though (let's say 315-325), he could make it as a regular. More confident in him than May, tbh. Engel can handle CF defensively though so it vaults him a bit higher than most guys. He doesn't "have to" hit much. -
I would imagine that Purke goes down. I'd call up Davidson and Bourgeios or Leury and send Avi down too.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 06:21 PM) They are leaking info that he has character issues or something like that. Please. His character issues are basically that he's black and plays hockey.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 06:03 PM) Have Davidson's strikeout rates come down recently? Delmonico's not an option based on performance after Charlotte promotion, not sure about Hayes. I was GOING to say Courtney Hawkins (on a tear)...striking out 1/3 at-bats in BIRM would turn into 1/2 to 1/2.5 with the White Sox. But it would be a lot more fun than watching Garcia/Shuck or the catchers at DH. Or Coats, since they're bound and determined not to trust him with playing time. Davidson is striking out 26%. Has a .781 OPS with 10 homers. WOBA of .353 and a wRc+ of 125. He's been much better

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 04:56 PM) I feel your pain but what other options do they have? The fact that ALL of the guys you mentioned as actually on the big league roster shows how bereft of talent the organization really is doesn't it? Mark I'd start Eaton in CF, Coats in RF and Davidson at DH. There's absolutely no reason not to try it. None.

The NHL is drunk today. Stamkos also staying in TB for 8 years at $8.5 AAV.

Top 30 International Prospects; July 2nd 2016

Badler has another piece today that is exclusively broken down by team: http://www.baseballamerica.com/internation...tfE1jgUmEc8c.97 Has the White Sox with the 3 Dominican OF's as well as Venezuelan SS Lenin Sosa and RHP Henderson Carabello. -
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 11:57 AM) Is this true? I'm not sure how the budget is run for the organization. However, could there be a scenario where JR says "here's the budget, spend how you see fit." From this KW/Hahn decides not to put as much in the INTL market and instead focuses elsewhere? No chance. If they aren't going over, Jerry is the reason. Jerry doesn't believe in paying amateur lottery tickets that much money. It's why the drafting sucked forever. Reinsdorf would rather spend that $$ on the big league club instead of on amateurs. It's why he pushed for the new slotting system. KW liked toolsy athletes and JR liked saving money. That's how you settle for the Keenyn Walker's of the world. There is now way that Hahn can decide to spend $20 million on the INTL market and pay a 100% overage without getting it cleared first.
-
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 11:32 AM) The Tatis/Johnson price was rumored well before the Seattle blowup. Hahn is like his mentor re trade negotiations. One could wonder if that money paid for Shields, some Laroche savings, couldn't have gone into the international market for this year, into which Hahn, apparently, is making a paltry investment. You do realize that the INTL market and how much they spend is absolutely dependent on Reinsdorf right? You can criticize Hahn for trades and signings. Not going nuts on the international market is strictly an ownership decision though.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 10:06 AM) That's the sick thing...they thought about this trade for weeks and still f***ing did it. It was fine though. Shields got rocked in 1 start, the one prior to the deal. They didn't give up anything and they are paying below market value for what they thought they were getting. Shields obviously has to be better.
-
Tim Anderson was never discussed for James Shields. I mean I'm sure the Padres asked but GTFOH. Barstool Dave DM'ed me the trade details a week prior to it actually happening on twitter. Erik Johnson and Fernando Tatis were the names I heard from the inception.
-
QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 11:31 PM) This year, I don't want any free agents to come here. I want room for two maxes next year. I agree with this. Trade Taj and Mike Dunleavy. Sign a couple of fee agents to 1 year deals and go with it preserving the cap space for next season.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 07:56 AM) Anything less than 14-7 the next 21 should make the Sox sellers. So these next two are kinda must wins. What are they selling though? Avila, Navarro, Ajax, Albers, are their only free agents. I think they keep Frazier, Lawrie, Melky, etc because they want to compete in 2017. This isn't easy to do and they definitely aren't rebuilding.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 11:25 PM) Burdi, Hansen and Fulmer can take the place of Robertson/Jones at a fraction of the cost. They're going to have to do something dramatic to change this team. Paying Robertson that kind of elite closer salary two years in a row on middling teams is absolutely pointless. If Fulmer is a reliever, the Sox need to deal him to a team that thinks he can start.

Zack Collins agrees to deal with White Sox

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 03:36 AM) On MLBN draft day, they were asked if Schwarber comp was fair and one of the guys said no way. Collins has a glove at least. Forget which one analyst it was. Either callis or mayo. Schwarber has more power. Collins has on base skills that this team just doesn't have. I'd be thinking 25-30 homers and tons of walks. -
Schanowski wrote in his story tonight that Bulls want to re-sign Etwaun Moore and he'll cost $8-$10 million per year. That's f***ing crazy talk, man.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 04:48 PM) Interestingly, Torotno's pitching staff actually has the 3rd best ERA in the AL. The White Sox's staff has slightly more fWAR, but it's closer than I'd have guessed had I not looked (Sox are 7th, Blue Jays 9th in MLB in fWAR). Blue Jays and Red Sox have also both had comparably difficult schedules to the White Sox. Oh yeah I know. I'd rather have the Sox staff than either of those pitching staffs though.

All sorts of rumors that Harrison Barnes was in Chicago today. Could be anything though. He was HS teammates with Doug McDermott

Scott Merkin @scottmerkin Jun 27 Chicago, IL Pioneer League Player of the Week, 1B @Zangari49: .440, 2 HR, 8 RBIs in 7 games for Great Falls 3 retweets 8 likes

Bruce Levine @MLBBruceLevine 2m2 minutes ago Justin Morneau said 30 at bats will be enough when he is sent out on rehab assignment. My best guess July 15th with big club

QUOTE (spiderman @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 04:28 PM) On days that Chris Sale is pitching (and Quintana should be near that category), the White Sox are about as good as any team in the majors. 3/5 of the time, though, the team isn't very good. Saying that, I'm confident that, most days, the Blue Jays and Red Sox (and probably the Astros) are better than the White Sox. The Blue Jays and Red Sox have better offenses. Sox have better pitching.
