  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 09:25 AM) Stone said the other day Avi was 5th in the AL in velocity coming off his bat. As down as some people are on him, there is potential there. If he gets balls in the air, he could be a monster. Most teams don't wait this long. but I truly feel that guys need like 1,500 plate appearances before we really know what they are. Avi has less than 800 big league at-bats currently.
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 01:41 PM) I don't know. Was Brooks the best person we could sign? I presume we don't actually have bird rights to him so were actually limited on what we could offer him? I do agree that I'd rather give Lin that money then Brooks. They had his Bird Rights but he made the minimum last year. They can only pay 120% more than the minimum without tapping into the MMLE
  3. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 08:26 AM) BA has never liked Sox prospects They loved Anderson and Rodon. Sox usually had bad prospects.
  4. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 03:05 PM) I can't believe Pompey still ranks that high. He's had a tough season. Stock is certainly down. Blue Jays FO loves him. We know the Sox FO does too but I don't think they could get him for a rental. No most likely not. That's what I'd ask initially though.
  5. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 02:56 PM) Not really. I am sure the Jays would ask the world for Urena and he's far off. He's got a lot of power and projects to be able to stick at SS. Daniel Lugo is struggling and is a murderer!!! Bring me Jeff Hoffman
  6. Spiegel was wondering about this very topic on his show today. They had Merkin on and he said that the media guys always reference KW/Hahn's 3 year big board. THey have it in the office with targets and hypothetical targets for a 3 year period. KW has referenced in the past having guys on there that never make it or never get acquired.
  7. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 09:27 AM) what to overcome the hole that the sox are in to what??? make the wild card running? this is a "fool gold" kind of wishful thinking. realistically i can't see it. I understand what you mean. And I think I agree. Here's the problem. They have awesome starting pitching and are only 5.5 back of the 2nd WildCard. It's easy for us to say this. We don't know what Reinsdorf thinks though. If Reinsdorf doesn't want Hahn/Williams to sell yet, then they won't be selling. I think they let this play out over the next 2 weeks. They obviously believe in the team that they put together. I don't know how many games they need to be back to decide to sell around July 30th. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Regardless, they don't have much to sell and they want to win again in 2016
  8. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 07:08 PM) Again swihart was asked as a starting point by Philly and boston told them no. Why would he then be available to stating point for quintana. f*** Boston. Their prospects are usually overrated.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 09:57 AM) Did they say if he'll start in the rotation or the pen? I would imagine he'll start in the pen. He has a ton of innings already.
  10. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 06:53 PM) Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 24m24 minutes ago #Tigers, #Astros and #Royals reportedly in the mix for Jeff Samardzija. @Gelman_Scott with details: http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2015/7/4/88944...rs-trade-rumors … Detroit can keep their bum ass prospects
  11. Where do we think he starts the year? Great Falls? Kannapolis?
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 04:03 PM) It is 20-15. Rodon didn't get a #14 last year though. It's just weird.
  13. Does anyone notice anything interesting about this? https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CJBJyazVAAAqUAF.jpg:large
  14. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 11:10 AM) Matt David @JesseSanchezMLB White sox still in on Eddy Martinez and Amarista?? Jesse Sanchez ‏@JesseSanchezMLB 15m15 minutes ago I hear yes on Martinez. They were initially on Amarista. I'd love to get Martinez.... I was going to post this as well. If they are in fact, still in on Martinez, doesn't that mean that they must be willing to pay a penalty and take the loss next year? Even if they don't land him, they know the details of the arrangement. Maybe they are willing to go there for a kid like Martinez.
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 02:54 PM) DeAndre Jordan on the verge of signing with the Mavs. I think this really ups Joakim and Taj's trade value. The Clippers are without a center right now. They have nothing to deal though: Redick, Crawford, and picks for Noah? The money has to match
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 02:41 PM) I was hoping for some savings, but I will take getting Fulmer into the fold. If they didn't have a plan to go a bit over though, wouldn't they have given him the extra $100,000? It doesn't really make any sense to sit on that $$. They can offer Hickman or one of the other guys over $400,000
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 02:22 PM) That's slot value. What to do with remaining pool and potential overage? Read about the scenarios here, including possibility of grabbing one more significant prospect. Draft Tracker also updated. You would think that they have an idea that could get 1 of them, right? I can't see them sitting on that extra $100,000
  18. Fulmer will throw out the first pitch tonight and he has signed for slot money. Chicago White Sox ‏@whitesox 4m4 minutes ago White Sox have signed first-round pick Carson Fulmer to a minor-league contract with a $3,470,600-million signing bonus.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 01:37 PM) Hahn being in the DR yesterday for signings may be involved in the delayed Fulmer signing, but it should move very soon. I'm pretty confident they want to get it done to go after one or more of the back end reach picks. I'd be surprised if Fulmer wasn't signed by mid-next week. Carson Fulmer signed for slot: Chicago White Sox ‏@whitesox 4m4 minutes ago White Sox have signed first-round pick Carson Fulmer to a minor-league contract with a $3,470,600-million signing bonus.
  20. This article lays out the reasons why a team or teams should blow past their signing pools next year. I'd love it if the White Sox did this. Badler said it'd be like getting 6 years worth of talent in 1 signing period: http://www.baseballamerica.com/internation...nal-bonus-pool/
  21. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 08:07 AM) Sort of serious. All the conversation about shutting him down, calling him up or not calling him up, ranking him as a prospect, blah, blah...is just a bit premature. Why don't we sign him first, then see how he does and where he does it. Until then, ...... Oh, you get my point. I wish he would sign soon. Okay. I thought you were implying that he may not sign. He's signing.
  22. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 11:58 AM) Seriously though, I would try to move Quintana. He's not worth an elite prospect, but something like the Royals' 2, 4 and 5 would work. I think you can get full value for him and lord knows we need young talent infused into this org. I see Santiago is outpitching Quintana. Not terribly surprising - he just needed to get his walks under control. He's absolutely worth an elite prospect.
  23. Quintana conversation starts with Mondesi + at least 1 of Manaea or Zimmer.
  24. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 08:07 AM) Via trade bud I don't think they are trading Melky.
  25. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 09:30 AM) I agree questioning Bowman is crazy, but what is equally crazy is ripping Tallon. If he didn't pick Kane and Toews and Keith and Seabrook, there would be zero cups. There was that one snafu, but it was revealed a subordinate screwed up. Dale took the blame, that's fine. I didn't mean to sound like I was. I never ripped Dale Tallon. He's a great scout. He did mess up the salary cap though. They don't win the cups without Tallon's acquisitions though.
