  3. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 01:11 PM) Here's my guess at the Top 15: 1. Tim Anderson SS 2. Carson Fulmer RHP 3. Frankie Montas RHP 4. Spencer Adams RHP 5. Micah Johnson 2B 6. Trey Michalczewski 3B 7. Tyler Danish RHP 8. Micker Adolfo OF 9. Courtney Hawkins OF 10. Jacob May OF 11. Jordan Guerrero LHP 12. Chris Beck RHP 13. Trayce Thompson OF 14. Matt Davidson 3B 15. Luis Martinez RHP I'm assuming that these guys missed and I'm intrigued by some of them: Amado Nunez, Jhoandro Alfaro, Keon Barnum, Andre Wheeler, and Michael Ynoa So I'll adjust my list to look like this after finding out about Saladino. 1. Tim Anderson 2. Carson Fulmer 3. Frankie Montas 4. Spencer Adams 5. Micah Johnson 6. Trey Michalczewski 7. Tyler Danish 8. Micker Adolfo 9. Courtney Hawkins 10. Jacob May 11. Chris Beck 12. Tyler Saladino 13. Jordan Guerrero 14. Trayce Thompson 15. Matt Davidson
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 01:26 PM) So from what i've seen. The first 2-3 practices were disaster for the defense. Very negative notes on Fuller/Bostic/all safeties. The last 2 have been more positive, with positive notes on Fuller/Bostic/all safeties. Going to back out of the day to day of training camp. Forgot how annoying it is. Houston and McPhee both looked really good at OLB. Christian Jones looked good as well and Ego at least looks the part of a potential player.
  5. QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 01:20 PM) I am really surprised at the early talk of Shea McClellin being the leading candidate at the starting LB spot. He was one of the guys that I thought would be an immediate cut as soon as this new staff got a look at him. Apparently Fox thinks Shea has all the tools and smarts to play well...Alrighty then... The McClellan stuff is so weird. I was out there a couple times and Mason Foster looks way better. I'd be surprised if the starters aren't Foster and Jones honestly.
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 01:23 PM) Saladino is still eligible, yes. Okay. I'm assuming Saladino is on the list
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 01:12 PM) You've got a guy in your T15 there that didn't make our T30, let alone 15. So you're missing a guy. Is Saladino still eligible? I'm assuming it's Luis Martinez that isn't on your list. I like Antonio Rodriguez but wasn't sure if you'd have him there. Hmmm….Interested for tomorrow.

  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 10:18 AM) Yes he is. Everyone knows he is a platoon player when lefties are pitching. That is a placeholder for a fulltime player that will take his job He's an .800 OPS player controlled through 2017. How many .800 OPS guys are there currently on the White Sox team?
  10. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 08:51 AM) By gaining a draft pick for Jeff, I think I could suffer our 1st round pick on a hitter because the 2 I mentioned (Upton and Heyward), Upton will be 28 and Heyward will be 26. Sox have LaRoche and Danks coming off the books next year and Sox had major interest in Heyward before he got traded to the Cards this past off season, so I think it definitely could be realistic in going after him. I then would package AVI in a deal for a 3B or another pitcher. I disagree with this. The team cannot keep signing free agents with Qualifying Offers. I think Upton, Heyward, and probably Wieters are off the table.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 3, 2015 -> 08:01 AM) Valencia is a placeholder. Switching out placeholders isnt exactly taking steps in resolving the problem Valencia isn't a "placeholder" if used properly.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 06:37 PM) We'd be better off with Daniel Norris or Jeff Hoffman. Oops. Now someone inevitably will post a critical review of Hoffman despite it being his first month back from TJ surgery...which historically has required 18-24 months to rebound to 100% or better. Secondly, the White Sox were willing to take him at 3 if Rodon was already selected, so nothing has changed in his repertoire. If the medicals were fine, then it's a risk but not as much as Shark at age 31 or 32 for $100 million. No s***. I think if one of those guys were offered for Shark, they'd be on the team now. The Sox loved Hoffman.
  13. Valencia has a wRc+ of 128. .360 wOBA. He has a .900 OPS vs LHP since 2013. He also sports an .OPS+ of 129. Danny Valencia would be a really nice addition. So he'll probably be an Oakland A.
  14. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 04:36 PM) Me too. If he's only coming up to be a backup, he has to take LaRoche's at bats away vs lefties. I'd almost start Thompson in RF every day. Platoon Laroche/Garcia at DH.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 03:48 PM) If they decide to bring in a lefty starting catcher next year, Soto would be the perfect platoon. If they bring in a LH starting catcher, I'm pretty sure the backup will be Tyler Flowers
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 04:53 PM) Enjoyed Aaron Leming's tweets on training camp today. Aaron came to the Sox game with me last night. He's a good dude. I saw some interesting things at training camp the last couple days while I was there too.
  17. Samardzija has nothing today. These games happen. The Sox just can't afford them to happen at this point. There is almost no margin for error at all. Games like this are why you can't waste great pitching performances with no offense throughout the year. They just have to play better than they are capable to catch anyone. This team will hover around .500 all season. Kind of what I thought going in with an outside shot at a 2nd WildCard if some things go right.
  18. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 01:12 PM) Great, now Abreu is going to get plunked, just wait. He got plunked yesterday. That looked like Samardzija retaliation to me.
  19. This should have been known already. Samardzija has always wanted to test free agency. He's looking for a $100 million deal and I think he gets it. If it comes to something like 5/$85-$90 million, then I could see White Sox getting involved. I'd rather spend that $$ elsewhere though and go with young rotation.
  20. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 10:31 AM) My guess is he gets the call tomorrow to replace Carroll or a reliever, as we currently have no backup outfielder, unless you count Leury Garcia. Padilla just tweeted the lineup card and Beckham and Flowers are listed as only bench players. No Leury Garcia

QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Aug 2, 2015 -> 08:34 AM) Wonder if the Sox will go after Wieters, seems easier if Shark leaves and we get a comp pick I hope they don't give up a comp pick for Wieters

Why didn't we start this thread after Friday night's game?
  23. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 12:00 AM) Scott Merkin ‏@scottmerkin 2m2 minutes ago Sounds as if Shuck could going to the DL, BUT won't be known until Saturday. would make sense to add another pitcher short term I would guess that Nate Jones will come up. Maybe we see Trayce Thompson for a reliever before the next series though. Chicago White Sox ‏@whitesox 16m16 minutes ago Prior to tonight's game, #WhiteSox placed J.B. Shuck on 15-day disabled list & recalled RHP @Scotty_Carroll from @KnightsBaseball.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 1, 2015 -> 10:04 AM) Rodons problem is he has to throw strikes consistently. Does that get solved in AAA as opposed to the Majors? I don't see the difference. I don't either. And bad minor league hitters will swing at garbage. Someone mentioned this in another thread but Rodon looks like a guy that was pitching against Boston College last year. He'll be fine.
  25. Most people were saying Giants/Dodgers for Martinez but Jesse Sanchez said Sox were interested and nobody ruled out. Cubs mentioned too.
