Who gets moved from the bullpen?
I saw a stat about Petricka showing his Hits/Walks to K rate and it's not good. He's the guy I'd move if they could maximize the return. I like relievers that strike people out.

Trade Deadline Thread
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 20, 2015 -> 08:57 AM) The Astros are looking for a 1B due to the poor production from the position. That poor production is still better than that of LaRoche so I doubt the Astros have interest in LaRoche. Since the Astros have time before the deadline I think they give Singleton a chance to show what he can do before the 31st. Samardzija to Houston make alot of sense since Samardzija will not cost as much as Cueto or Hamels would in a trade. I went to the Pirates/Brewers game yesterday. I didn't realize Adam Lind was having such a good season. That's who Houston should go after. Also, Sox may be able to dump Alexei on the Pirates since Mercer got hurt. Wishful thinking probably.

More evidence of Chicago media turning on Ventura
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 04:19 PM) Made me think back to Manuel and the time he skipped Buehrle when we could have swept the Yankees...I think it was on the road, too. Cotts of course got bombed and the forward momentum was emergency-braked. Momentum in baseball? GTFOH. Momentum is the next day's starting pitcher

Carson Fulmer's debut - an in-person report
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 09:07 AM) We (Future Sox) now have an AZL correspondent, and she was at Fulmer's debut last night in Arizona. Read her report here, to give you a first take on Carson as a pro. Welcome Carson, and welcome Kim! I hope Seby Zavala ends up being a stud because that's a great name.

7/18 Games - Fulmer's debut
QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 07:44 AM) i am with you on this. but how is his D coming along. the defense was the reason on being sent back down. LDF, I don't think he's ever going to be good defensively. He has to be a big offensive weapon to outweigh his bad D.

Samardzija Trade Packages
QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 05:57 AM) Lol - as opposed to what? Not wanting to win in 2016? Give me a break. Not to mention, but if "Chairman" is hanging his hat on the likes of Melky and LaRoche (one year older, btw) to fulfill this yearning of his next year, well, how's that working out for him so far in 2015? The White Sox will not be trading guys like Melky and Robertson that they just signed. They tried to win in 2015. They'll add in the offseason and try to win again in 2016. Samardzija will most likely get moved. I could see a reliever or Ramirez go as well. My point to Greg was that there wasn't going to be some giant firesale.

White Sox call up Tyler Saladino
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 11:31 PM) Beckham may be a better runner. If he is, it's by a margin that isn't a factor. Bonifacio isn't any bit of the hitter that Gillaspie is and shouldn't be batting against righties. Beckham is the one that doesn't make sense unless he's starting. He doesn't hit RHP or LHP well. This sounds hard for you. You hate Gillaspie and Beckham. I wish neither guy were on the team. I think Davidson probably sucks but I'd like to see: Davidson 3B, Saladino SS, Johnson 2B, and Abreu 1B.

Samardzija Trade Packages
QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 11:23 PM) Well I doubt we'd get three elite prospects so one elite one and a couple other solid prospects. I just don't understand the rush on this board to trade Quintana for far less than he's worth.

Yasiel Puig
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 06:20 PM) People's argument for why he wouldn't be worth a top of the league value deal is that he's not well known enough. He could actually win a few games in some first half at some point and "snap together a season with a lot of wins and an all star appearance". Is that more acceptable? Sure but I don't think it matters. I think other major league baseball front offices know how good Jose Quintana is.

Samardzija Trade Packages
QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 09:45 PM) Time to sell definitely. Shark for sure, DFA Conor, and only move Quintana if we can get a very good MLB ready hitter. I love Quintana but this lineup needs retooled bad. 1 good ML ready hitter? That's not nearly enough for Quintana. Q trades could be entertained in offseason but I doubt it.

Samardzija Trade Packages
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 09:41 PM) Amen, Finn. Just think if we make GOOD trades for Lexi, Shark, Robertson and LaRoche and Melky in the next 2 weeks. We're talking a very very nice re-tooling of our team. Go ahead and sign Shark this offseason if u like, but deal him now and get some bodies back for him! Saladino can play short as we wait for Anderson. Greg, I'm pretty sure you are going to be disappointed. Samardzija will get traded. Maybe even Alexei. I'd be shocked if Robertson, Melky, or LaRoche go anywhere though. Chairman wants to win in 2016

7/18 vs KC Royals
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 05:29 PM) My guess is Hahn is seeing if he can get an A ball pitcher for Conor. This is exactly what I think as well.

7/18 vs KC Royals
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 04:52 PM) Webb. I'm really surprised Perez didn't gap one and end the game there. Duke isn't just a LOOGY though.

7/18 vs KC Royals
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 04:40 PM) If the Sox lose 3 of 4 as most everybody expected, do the trades begin? Or not. What trades? Samardzija will probably go. That's it though.

7/18 vs KC Royals
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 04:39 PM) Little surprised Robin left in Duke to face Perez. He should have whacked a bases clearing double that would have turned it into a rout. Were no righties left besides Robertson? It was like Robin conceding this one again knowing we can't hit KC's back of the bullpen guys. Who would he go to there? Webb? Robertson? They only have 6 guys in the pen for this series. Petricka didn't get the job done. That was the real problem.

2015 Films thread
Trainwreck was outstanding. Amy Schumer is hilarious. The Colin Quinn character is great and Lebron steals the scenes that he's in.

White Sox call up Tyler Saladino
Rick Hahn said that a reliever will be added for the series against STL on Tuesday. I am guessing that Albers will be returning. Saladino has started every day and done a great job. I can't see him going back down. Doesn't it seem like Gillaspie will be DFA to clear the spot? Seems that way to me.

Yasiel Puig
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 09:10 AM) Then don't trade him. He's under team control extremely cheaply for 5 years. We can wait around for a top of the league quality return for him. 2.5 years from how he could be even more valuable if he snaps together a great season somewhere in there or the White Sox accidentally score more than 2 runs a game for him. Snaps together a great season? Like last year? He put up 5.3 fWAR last season and is on pace for a 4+ win season this year. Quintana is a 26 year old LH stud that is on a team friendly deal for the next 5 seasons. It's absurd to me that other MLB teams wouldn't know and understand how good he is. He will not be traded unless it's for an absolute haul.

Yasiel Puig
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 07:09 PM) You aren't getting any elite hitting prospects unless you trade Chris Sale. You could get some for Q

Samardzija Trade Packages
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 11:35 PM) Cause of Omar. They can't embarrass the veteran by cutting into his at bats. Colon was sent down to get to play more. No room for him. They would deal him. The time is now! If we can do better than Omar/Lamb (high draft pick before surgery!) then bring it on. I'm all for BETTER than Colon/Lamb. But Lamb/Colon would be a great haul for Shark IMO. I mean Shark isn't gonna be here after this season. That haul sucks. Give me the comp pick.

Frankie Montas to join Sox for Double Header Friday
QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 12:22 PM) You could say the same thing about Carlos Sanchez. Unfortunately some guys just can't hit at the MLB level. No you can't. Rondon is much better defensively than Carlos Sanchez and he does it at SS

Yasiel Puig
Well this thread has gotten some action. I'll pat myself on the back....

Frankie Montas to join Sox for Double Header Friday
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 12:16 PM) On this board? People were very weirdly infatuated with him. Yes they were. Myself included. If he could hit .220 in the majors, he'd have a long career. That's how good his defense is.

Yasiel Puig
Matt Spiegel has been proposing a Puig for Quintana deal all morning. Matt Spiegel @MattSpiegel670 12m12 minutes ago Avisail Garcia and Jose Quintana for Yasiel Puig. Who says no? I love Quintana but Puig is the type of talent I'd ideally want in return for him. Supposedly, Abreu and Puig don't get along. Thoughts, everyone?

Keith Law's Midseason Top 50
Keith Law did his midseason top 50 prospects piece today: http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/keith-law/...prospectsjuly16 As for Tim Anderson: 44. Tim Anderson, SS Age: 22 | B/T: R/R | Height: 6-1 | Weight: 185 Currently at: Double-A (Birmingham) It's the Shawon Dunston starter kit: not quite Dunston's arm strength (which might be the best ever for a major league shortstop), but similar range, quickness, bat control, foot speed … and reluctance to take a walk. Anderson came into pro ball with less baseball experience than most players, and he's actually a little more patient already than Dunston ever was, so the comparison isn't totally fair to Anderson. But it does give you a rough idea of what kind of player Anderson can be even if he doesn't make any significant improvements. Keith Law's Top 10 1. Corey Seager SS Dodgers 2. JP Crawford SS Phillies 3. Lucas Giolito RHP Nationals 4. Juio Urias LHP Dodgers 5. Joey Gallo 3B Rangers 6. Nomar Mazara OF Rangers 7. Tyler Glasnow RHP Pirates 8. Rafael Devers 3B Red Sox 9. Brendan Rodgers SS Rockies 10. Kyle Schwarber C Cubs
