QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 7, 2015 -> 01:45 PM) Sox would be over .500 if they still had AJ. He's worse defensively though.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2015 -> 01:39 PM) I would guess the main 4 starters and Stephenson, Swanson, Happ and Benintendi. They probably assume Rodgers will be gone Why though? Wouldn't they just have their top 8 players in general?
-
QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 7, 2015 -> 01:18 PM) exactly!!! why would a GM announce to the baseball world what would be their real intentions be via a sports forum. Well they never would. It's actually not that big of a deal in the baseball draft though because teams can't trade.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2015 -> 12:54 PM) SoxNet.net @SoxNet now Doug Lauman on the pregame show just said the @whitesox have their eye on four pitchers and four position players for the @MLBDraft at #8. I would imagine it's Swanson, Bregman, Rodgers, Stephenson, Jay, Tate, Fulmer, and Harris.
-
I really hope they get this one in today so that I can see Rodon pitch on Tuesday night.

Illinois is starting Tyler Jay vs Vanderbilt tonight. People are talking about it being a good move because they are desperate. If Jay is good enough to start today, in a potential season-ending game, then he should have been starting all season.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 6, 2015 -> 12:36 PM) Sox prefer Tate to Fulmer. Agreed but I don't think it'll get to that point. Sox are likely to get a stab at one of their top three Tate/Jay and Fulmer. If they end up with Tate/Jay/Fulmer I think they'll be happy. What will be interesting is if two of them are on the board. Best case scenario for White Sox would be Tyler Stephenson going #1. Even if Swanson goes #1 though, if Houston goes Bregman then Colorado could go with Brendan Rodgers. Allard is a wildcard to Minnesota at 6 and hopefully Boston takes Benindenti.

KW: play is "embarassing" but team can still win ALC

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2015 -> 12:16 PM) Just to stress again, the White Sox's payroll this year is $115 million. If they don't sign Shark but do keep Alexei, their payroll rises to ~$120-125 million depending on arb guys like Noesi. The money spent on Samardzija this season is already committed next year because most of our contracts grow. In order for there to be extra payroll next year, they're going to need a revenue stream boost. Do you not think that they are going to offer Samardzija something like 5 years $100 million? They traded for him so that they can keep him long-term. I don't think an offer like that gets it done but if they are willing to extend to sign Shark, why wouldn't they spend that same money on someone or something else? -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 6, 2015 -> 02:35 PM) Not trying to be a dick, but weren't the Sox just 3 back a few weeks ago? We've actually regressed a bit. No. They were 3 back of the 2nd WC

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 6, 2015 -> 01:13 PM) It is not making him a starter. It is playing him and Gordon while they are swinging a good bat. That means anyone hitting over .250. They started last night's game w 6 sub .250 hitters. They aren't going to platoon Melky or LaRoche.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 6, 2015 -> 09:47 AM) You didn't miss much. Pre-draft, they really aren't going to give much. Just theory, best player available, so on. Steve Stone and Bruce Levine have both brought up Tyler Stephenson the last 2 days on the radio. Not sure if they are hearing something or if they just see catching as a need and saw him rumored at #1 and jumped on it.
-
QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jun 6, 2015 -> 11:18 AM) Let Alexei hit #2 against left handed pitchers, and let Shuck hit #2 against right handed pitchers. That would be a good solution to the problem. Who would Shuck be playing instead of against RHP though?

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 11:19 PM) Or it's just more of an argument that this was never going to be a one-year turnaround. And I still don't think it is. If the Sox end up 81-81, it's a huge win, IMO. You get a draft pick for Samardzija, keep everyone else, and you enter the offseason needing to add 4-6 more wins to be a playoff team. And you can use the money you were going to spend on Shark on something else. This is an excellent post. -
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 05:20 PM) Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 3m3 minutes ago Hahn: "I feel we are in a spot right now where the arrow is starting to point up." I'm pretty sure if your head is up your butt, the needle is always pointing up. Scot Gregor @scotgregor 6m6 minutes ago GM Rick Hahn when asked if he's stunned Sox are in last place. "This is baseball. Things happen. We’ve played, what, 55-60 games?"
-
Jen Lada @JenLada 2m2 minutes ago Hahn: as we sit here today our hope continues to be we're in a position to add & have reinforcements come to contribute for a champ'ship run

Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 1m1 minute ago #WhiteSox for 6/5: Eaton 8, Ramirez 6, Abreu DH, Garcia 9, LaRoche 3, Cabrera 7, Beckham 5, Flowers 2, Sanchez 4. Quintana vs. Ryan.
-
Scot Gregor @scotgregor 47s48 seconds ago Melky Cabrera hitting sixth tonight Hopefully Garcia is 2nd but it's probably Beckham

Any college baseball fans have a list or some names of college seniors with some upside?

QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 09:54 AM) do you think that would be an over pay. Nope. Might not be enough.
-
QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 09:24 AM) I agree that it has to be somewhat of a concern, but it's always harder for fans when we have no idea what the medical staff has to say. Could be a huge deal, or could be a minor issue. All I know is that a 17 year old lefty who can already touch 95 with a good hard breaking ball, and a very smooth delivery is really difficult to pass on. I think we'll know how big of a concern his back is based on where he gets drafted. I don't see how he's not a top 5 prospect in this draft class if fully healthy. Keith Law thinks Allard is still going #6 to Minnesota
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 09:04 AM) Taking Houston, a deal with them starts with Carlos Correa. Anyone think that happens? A Cardinals deal starts with Carlos Martinez. Again, anyone think that is getting off of the ground? Otherwise, the Sox aren't getting real value for Quintana. Feliz, McCullers, Stassi, and Moran probably gets it done but Houston would never give that up.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 23, 2015 -> 04:10 PM) Nothing hurts recruiting like the Chicago Bulls attempting to hire your coach. Hoiberg was also telling recruits that he couldn't guarantee that he'd be around.
