  1. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 09:27 AM) what to overcome the hole that the sox are in to what??? make the wild card running? this is a "fool gold" kind of wishful thinking. realistically i can't see it. I understand what you mean. And I think I agree. Here's the problem. They have awesome starting pitching and are only 5.5 back of the 2nd WildCard. It's easy for us to say this. We don't know what Reinsdorf thinks though. If Reinsdorf doesn't want Hahn/Williams to sell yet, then they won't be selling. I think they let this play out over the next 2 weeks. They obviously believe in the team that they put together. I don't know how many games they need to be back to decide to sell around July 30th. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Regardless, they don't have much to sell and they want to win again in 2016
  2. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 07:08 PM) Again swihart was asked as a starting point by Philly and boston told them no. Why would he then be available to stating point for quintana. f*** Boston. Their prospects are usually overrated.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 09:57 AM) Did they say if he'll start in the rotation or the pen? I would imagine he'll start in the pen. He has a ton of innings already.
  4. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 06:53 PM) Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 24m24 minutes ago #Tigers, #Astros and #Royals reportedly in the mix for Jeff Samardzija. @Gelman_Scott with details: http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2015/7/4/88944...rs-trade-rumors … Detroit can keep their bum ass prospects
  5. Where do we think he starts the year? Great Falls? Kannapolis?
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 04:03 PM) It is 20-15. Rodon didn't get a #14 last year though. It's just weird.
  7. Does anyone notice anything interesting about this? https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CJBJyazVAAAqUAF.jpg:large
  8. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 11:10 AM) Matt David @JesseSanchezMLB White sox still in on Eddy Martinez and Amarista?? Jesse Sanchez ‏@JesseSanchezMLB 15m15 minutes ago I hear yes on Martinez. They were initially on Amarista. I'd love to get Martinez.... I was going to post this as well. If they are in fact, still in on Martinez, doesn't that mean that they must be willing to pay a penalty and take the loss next year? Even if they don't land him, they know the details of the arrangement. Maybe they are willing to go there for a kid like Martinez.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 02:54 PM) DeAndre Jordan on the verge of signing with the Mavs. I think this really ups Joakim and Taj's trade value. The Clippers are without a center right now. They have nothing to deal though: Redick, Crawford, and picks for Noah? The money has to match
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 02:41 PM) I was hoping for some savings, but I will take getting Fulmer into the fold. If they didn't have a plan to go a bit over though, wouldn't they have given him the extra $100,000? It doesn't really make any sense to sit on that $$. They can offer Hickman or one of the other guys over $400,000
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 02:22 PM) That's slot value. What to do with remaining pool and potential overage? Read about the scenarios here, including possibility of grabbing one more significant prospect. Draft Tracker also updated. You would think that they have an idea that could get 1 of them, right? I can't see them sitting on that extra $100,000
  12. Fulmer will throw out the first pitch tonight and he has signed for slot money. Chicago White Sox ‏@whitesox 4m4 minutes ago White Sox have signed first-round pick Carson Fulmer to a minor-league contract with a $3,470,600-million signing bonus.
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 01:37 PM) Hahn being in the DR yesterday for signings may be involved in the delayed Fulmer signing, but it should move very soon. I'm pretty confident they want to get it done to go after one or more of the back end reach picks. I'd be surprised if Fulmer wasn't signed by mid-next week. Carson Fulmer signed for slot: Chicago White Sox ‏@whitesox 4m4 minutes ago White Sox have signed first-round pick Carson Fulmer to a minor-league contract with a $3,470,600-million signing bonus.
  14. This article lays out the reasons why a team or teams should blow past their signing pools next year. I'd love it if the White Sox did this. Badler said it'd be like getting 6 years worth of talent in 1 signing period: http://www.baseballamerica.com/internation...nal-bonus-pool/
  15. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 2, 2015 -> 08:07 AM) Sort of serious. All the conversation about shutting him down, calling him up or not calling him up, ranking him as a prospect, blah, blah...is just a bit premature. Why don't we sign him first, then see how he does and where he does it. Until then, ...... Oh, you get my point. I wish he would sign soon. Okay. I thought you were implying that he may not sign. He's signing.
  16. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 11:58 AM) Seriously though, I would try to move Quintana. He's not worth an elite prospect, but something like the Royals' 2, 4 and 5 would work. I think you can get full value for him and lord knows we need young talent infused into this org. I see Santiago is outpitching Quintana. Not terribly surprising - he just needed to get his walks under control. He's absolutely worth an elite prospect.
  17. Quintana conversation starts with Mondesi + at least 1 of Manaea or Zimmer.
  18. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 08:07 AM) Via trade bud I don't think they are trading Melky.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 09:30 AM) I agree questioning Bowman is crazy, but what is equally crazy is ripping Tallon. If he didn't pick Kane and Toews and Keith and Seabrook, there would be zero cups. There was that one snafu, but it was revealed a subordinate screwed up. Dale took the blame, that's fine. I didn't mean to sound like I was. I never ripped Dale Tallon. He's a great scout. He did mess up the salary cap though. They don't win the cups without Tallon's acquisitions though.
  20. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 09:22 AM) being equal too, yeah i agree, but he is close with more great yrs ahead of him. There is absolutely no comparison between Saad and Toews.
  21. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 08:58 AM) Sharp - Toews - Hossa Dano - Anisimov - Kane Panarin - Tuevo - Morin Shaw - Kruger - ? (Dejardins maybe) I expect Sharp to be moved still
  22. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 08:53 AM) good fine on the contract signing. however, what ever the GM wants in the day to day lineup, i believe that will be Q decisions. if bowman is saying this, then he is doing damage control It's not damage control. He acquired a 27 year old C that he has always wanted.
  23. Mike Dunleavy back to the Bulls for 3 years and $15 million. I can't tweet from work sorry.
  24. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 08:41 AM) every one is making assumptions without any guarantees on anything. no one will know what line he would play on, no one will know how he will perform on and in Q's system no one will know if with the way the team comes to ST, no one will see who will be expendable. no one should look beyond next yr to figure the future. jeez. that should be obvious. Bowman mentioned specifically that Toews and Anisimov would be his top centers for years to come. And according to Fox Sports Midwest, Anisimov is about to sign a 5 year extension with the Blackhawks
  25. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 12:23 AM) can't sleep. it was discussed and the rumors pages stated the price. Bickell - draft pick |s|, Sharp - 1 rounds and a middle round and a prospect sharp = http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2501073...blackhawks-star bickell = http://www.mynhltraderumors.com/2015/06/23...-and-red-wings/ http://www.secondcityhockey.com/2015/6/23/...s-bryan-bickell re good management, that good management idea went sour really quick after the failed trade. no can deny that there was talked and bowman price was too high. either way, if the hawks did not trade Saad, there will be a whole new ideas to make things work. Saad is too good for what they got back. esp in the front end of this trade. who know 4 yrs from now, when Dano develops. the point is, keeping the team ready to make another run at Lord Stanley. re Anisimov define what your opinion is on cap friendly?? re Dano, he may develop as you hope, but everyone knows what to expect from a proven, young talent in Saad. Anisimov is not some bum though. He's probably going to be the 2nd line center. They had no leverage in a Saad trade though, man. They got a really good package considering they would have only received draft picks if they waited any longer. There was no better deal. It was this deal or draft picks.
