  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 09:32 AM) Depends on what we can save other places. Here are our slots Rd 1 $3,470,600 Rd 4 $508,000 Rd 5 $380,400 Rd 6 $284,800 Rd 7 $213,400 Rd 8 $174,800 Rd 9 $163,200 Rd 10 $152,300 Total $5,347,500 So what's the best way to do this? If they sign 4 college seniors for $10,000 each that leaves them $1,566, 900 for their other 3 picks. What can they push it to in order to not lose a pick?
  2. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 09:10 AM) look at Mitchell Nau - catcher - Tx A+M George Iskenderian - if - Miami with kerian, he comes from a great program. and is a ss, i don't see the power for a 3b and i mean sustainable power. a sleeper i really like besides Thompson is Zander Wiel Vandy. Mitchell Nau would be great in round 4.
  3. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 08:42 AM) if these players get to round 4, for pitcher - Donny Everett, for positional - David Thompson Donny Everett is probably attending college at this point.
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 10:41 PM) But at this rate, he's looking at risking not getting drafted all together if something happens next year at Duke He's in a very, very sticky situation. What is Boras doing? Not many teams can even realistically do it at this point?
  5. Tammy (Chicago) If you're the White Sox, who are you hoping for at 8? Klaw (4:14 PM) I think they're hoping for Tate.
  6. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 01:03 PM) There's just something about the fact that he's not even starting in college that makes me afraid of him. I know the Sox can change a lot about his mechanics, but I'd feel much better if I at least had SOME evidence that the stuff works for multiple innings. Well they have thrown him for 3-4 inning saves at times. He's starting today. He's the best pitcher on their staff. Hartleb is a dope though and had his best pitcher relieving instead of starting.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 12:50 PM) All the lefties. Stone did say he thought Jay could be in a major league bullpen this season, and the Sox could use another lefty. Then have him work on getting stretched out this winter and go back to the minors. Probably need Brendan Rodgers to Colorado at 3 for Jay to fall.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 12:46 PM) I am guesses his sources begin and end with the Ex-head coach, much like happened with the White sox. You are right that he has done the same thing with the Bulls that he did with the Sox. Being overly PRO COACH and taking it so far that everything he says needs to be taken with a grain of salt. He has good info occasionally but the problem is that he isn't really objective at all and everyone knows which side he stands on.
  9. The Astros went under slot in 2012 and drafted Correa at #1, McCullers in the 2nd, and Preston Tucker in the 5th. Often a sound strategy if there are similar players at the top.
  10. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 11:37 AM) Law just posted his final mock draft for insiders. If anyone can see that and cares to post that. Greatly appreciated. He has the White Sox taking Fulmer with Jay on the board. Swanson at 1, Bregman at 2, Rodgers at 3. He has Texas going under slot with Trenton Clark, Houston taking Benintendi at 5, and Happ 6 to Boston. Jay 9th to the Cubs. http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/draft/mock/...-Law-Mock-Draft
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 10:53 AM) \ And then I closed the article. I hate Cowley too. People are kidding themselves if they think he doesn't have sources though. He's not the only one to say that Noah and Taj are on the block.
  12. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 10:45 AM) Sox have not said a word about Benitendi, so that's who I predict. He doesn't really have "loud" tools though. The Sox just don't really value guys like Benintendi. Especially in the 1st round.
  13. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 11:10 AM) hmmm Sale, Q, Rodon, Jose A, and i am sure someone will look to Avi, I responded to this and didn't even notice the green font. haha my bad. They aren't rebuilding though, man. They will try to compete next year. They won't be trading any of those guys. I would be stunned if they traded Melky, LaRoche, Duke, or Robertson as well. Just doesn't really make sense. They want to compete; not rebuild.
  14. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 10:40 AM) re the trade idea, yeah i am for that, if the offer is really good. i really hate to bring this up, but if the sox doesn't improve by what date should the sox start looking to trade the players on the major league team??? There's nobody on the major league team to trade. Ramirez and Samardzija would be about it.
  15. http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/7/71/66...akim-noah-moved I hope they can move Noah.
  16. After giving up what they gave up there are only 3 options with Shark. 1. Sign him to an extension. 2. Give him a QO, let him walk, and collect a 2016 1st rounder. 3. Trade him at the deadline and acquire young talent. There is no scenario in which it is acceptable to not offer a QO and let him leave without getting anything.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 09:07 AM) I am hoping the Sox get Fulmer, and if not, Jay. If both those guys are gone, one of the SS. I know Stephenson is the flavor of the week, but HS catchers are really hard to project. I know the organization can use catching, every single organization can, but they usually take longer to develop, especially a HS guy. I'd rather they spend 4th-10th rounders on a college guy. If the guy turns into Ron Karkovice, it's a win, and I don't think you want to spend the 8th pick on that. The Sox did pick Kurt Brown 5th in 1985. Barry Bonds was the next selection. And Stephenson is exactly the type of hitter that the White Sox never develop. Big power with a lot of swing and miss potential in his game.
  18. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jun 7, 2015 -> 07:10 PM) Here's a potential problem. What if Samardzija accepts the qualifying offer? No chance. He's going to be what 31 years old? He'll at least get like 5 years and 80 million or so even though he's shooting for a lot more $$ than that.
  19. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 7, 2015 -> 07:14 PM) The package would have to be better than a first round comp pick. What that is, I don't know. If he doesn't turn it around, I don't think that package is out there. I think people greatly underestimate the value of draft flexibility with multiple 1st rounders.
  20. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 7, 2015 -> 07:05 PM) The new market inefficiency! Haha I bet he still goes in the comp round at the latest. IT just depends on how much $$ he wants. I think he's a reliever though.
  21. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 7, 2015 -> 06:10 PM) On espnu they said it was collective decision by ncaa, field crew, and both teams Doesn't really matter, was just looking forward to watching tonight Hopefully they don't have to play tomorrow night during the draft. Jay, Fulmer, Swanson, and Buehler will all go tomorrow night.
  22. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 7, 2015 -> 05:45 PM) Boston for whichever young catcher, Swihart or Vazquez they are willing to give up. Can't see them offering that much. Give me the comp pick instead.
  23. Samardzija has not been good enough. I don't think the Sox pay him unless it's something like 5/$100 and I wouldn't even really want to pay that from what I've seen. I think the 2016 compensation pick is an extremely important thing because of the draft flexibility that it allows. That being said, if the Sox are out of this thing they may look to deal Shark. What are some packages that would be realistic to take instead of the comp pick? Give me some teams and return packages.
  24. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 7, 2015 -> 01:45 PM) Sox would be over .500 if they still had AJ. He's worse defensively though.
