7/28 White Sox @ Red Sox 6:10 CT
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 07:20 PM) Nope, that's only if you move the DH to the field. Yeah I remember now. Thanks.

Bonifacio is the DH tonight. They can pinch hit for him in his next appearance but I think the pitcher takes that spot afterward.

Cargo
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 12:57 PM) Unless we are dumping Danks, no thanks. Even better that it rhymes. I agree with this. I'd do it if they took Danks contract back in return. And I wouldn't give them much else.

Blue Jays interested in Quintana or Samardjiza
The Blue Jays absolutely have the ammo to get Quintana. Daniel Norris, Aaron Sanchez, Anthony Alford, and Dawel Lugo for Quintana and Putnam.

My How Things Have Changed in 4 Days
QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 01:25 PM) edit: deleted everything I wrote. I agree. But having endured the beginning of this season, I feel like 81-81 or better means that: -Saladino stayed good -Sanchez may have finished with .240 or better average - Melky stayed good -Pitching stayed good That would make me pretty optimistic for next year, as opposed to a 73-something finish. 81 wins would be an 8 game improvement. I'd take that.

Tulo to the Jays
So it's Tulowitzi with 5 years and $100 million remaining and LaTroy Hawkins to Toronto. I actually like the package that Colorado received and I'll like it more if they can flip Reyes for more prospects. I've always loved Jeff Hoffman. Miguel Castro may be a bullpen piece but he's got a great arm and Jesus Tinoco is anther high upside young arm. The Rockies should trade CarGo and Blackmon next.

7/27 White Sox @ Red Sox 6:05 CT
I want Soto to play as well but he's starting tomorrow night so I understand him not starting today.

Cole Hamels to Rangers
QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 01:42 PM) I've heard the reasoning behind Texas's interest, still so weird to me. I don't think it's weird at all. Hamels is a bargain compared to what other guys will get and he's locked up for 4 more years. He's an ace and is owed $23.5, $23.5, $23.5, and $20 or a $6 million buyout. So it's either 4 years at $90.5 or 3 years at $76.5. A hell of a lot cheaper than paying Price, Zimmerman, or Cueto.

Samardzija Trade Packages
QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 04:06 PM) I'd rather have Pompey than Alford — he's more advanced. He's not as good though

Samardzija Trade Packages
If Toronto really wants Shark, I'd want Hoffman/Sanchez + Anthony Alford. Otherwise I'm waiting until Thursday to see how the week goes. I'd prefer the WhiteSox sell but I do want them to holdout for best Shark package.

Since the 0-4 start in Kansas City, The White Sox are 46-46.

Samardzija Trade Packages
I think Samardzija gets something like 5 years $105 million.

Cueto to Royals
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 12:13 AM) Hmmm. Would they have taken Shark for Finnegan and Lamb, leaving out the third guy? Finnegan and Lamb both are ready to join the Sox rotation. Did we blow it in not making the deal?? I think Finnegan is a bullpen arm. Kansas City agrees.

Chris Sale Cy Young Watch
QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 11:26 PM) You learn something new everyday. Thanks so much! Fangraphs uses what should have happened rather than what actually happens. Jake has a nice breakdown in one of the threads on the site.

Samardzija Trade Packages
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 08:50 PM) Tigers' GM confirmed that they're buyers. And it's funny to see Shane Greene pitching so poorly now after his start to the season I bet they still sell by Thursday.

Samardzija Trade Packages
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 08:40 PM) You are not alone. So overrated. He has tools. And he's really good defensively but Sox never develop guys like him.

Chris Sale Cy Young Watch
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 05:29 PM) Sale has finished 6th, 5th and 3rd the last three years in Cy Young voting. To no ones surprise he's right there again. Sale: 9-5, 2.85 ERA (8th best), 0.99 WHIP (1st), 170 ks (1st), 4.4 WAR (1st), in 133 IP (7th) Not bad. Let's look at his main competition: Keuchel: 12-5, 2.32 ERA (4th), 0.99 WHIP (1st), 132 Ks (7th), 3.9 WAR (3rd), in 151 IP (1st) Price, Kazmir, Gray, Archer, Felix and Hector Santiago (lol) are all right there too, but probably, definitely behind the top 2 as it stands. Anyways I think this is the year he breaks through. Sale FIP: 2.31 Keuchel: 2.64

My How Things Have Changed in 4 Days
You still trade Samardzija if you receive the package you want. They can sell that to Sox fans. They offered an extension, Shark wants to test free agency, so they sold him off. It's not like him being here would affect how many people come to the park.

Samardzija Trade Packages
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 26, 2015 -> 04:42 PM) He's more responsible for Abreu than anyone else other than JR. As for Hahn, virtually very single move over the last two seasons hasn't worked very well, other than dealing Peavy, and the Garcia part of that is at best a dubious proposition from here on out. Eaton for Santiago is probably a wash, at best, right now. Davidson, Bonifacio, Keppinger, Beckham, Downs, Blowasavio, Paulino, etc. The only player who has performed close to his contract this offseason has been Robertson, and that's an argument with two sides that have equally valid claims. If anyone wants to credit Hahn more than KW with drafting Rodon and Fulmer, well, that's up to them. Not exactly nuclear physics. Soto is a good signing. Putnam is a good signing. Those are shrewd moves. Gillaspie was good for a bit too. You can't criticize for Beckahm/Keppinger/Bonifacio and not credit for Soto and Putnam on minor league deals. Most of those guys were cheap flyers too. I have no idea whose idea it was to sign LaRoche, Melky, and Robertson but those all seemed like decent/good moves at the time as well.
