  1. Molina is heading back to Birmingham after allowing 6 runs on 9 hits in 4 innings for Charlotte.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 8, 2012 -> 01:42 PM) It does matter. I understand draft position, but to say it doesn't matter if the Sox win 88 games and miss the playoffs or lose 100 is beyond silly. And that's one man's opinion. Count me as not interested in being good enough to compete but not good enough to win the whole damn thing. If it were a team full of young players with promise then yes, obviously winning 88 games is better than being the worst team in baseball. But when you are the White Sox, with the worst minor league system in the game trying to win as many games as possible to hopefully finish 3rd does absolutely nothing to help the future of the franchise.
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 8, 2012 -> 01:46 PM) People aren't coming to the park to see PK in late June if the team is 10 games out of first place. I for one have never gone to the park to see Paul Konerko. I used to go to SEE Frank. PK is not Frank. I will never believe that people go to the park to see Paul Konerko play and the 29th in MLB in attendance is proving that. So many people think that by trading away veterans it somehow s***s on the fans. It s***s on the stupid fans. And yes, during the rebuild, the park would be empty. But once the White Sox got consistently good again, those same fans would be back. That's the way it goes.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 8, 2012 -> 12:45 PM) Just win, baby. If the Sox could have built on that great 10-6 start, even with this roster there would have been mega excitement in Chicago this summer. Instead, thanks the the annual meltdowns of our closers and passionless baseball at home, we're back to talking about shredding the roster to nothing, having five-10 years of 50-65 victories max in a total "rebuild," which would probably lead to the Sox moving from Chicago or being contracted. HAHA 50-65 wins a season? That's tough to do. But the bottom line is though that if they are going to miss the playoffs they may as well have the worst record in baseball. It does not matter. They could not "build" on their great 10-6 start because they are not that good. They have too many bad players on their team. That's generally what happens.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 8, 2012 -> 08:44 AM) I'm in favor of not panicking OOTP '13 style. We aren't winning anything this year. The most important thing we have to do this year is get a read on the kids in our organization to decide what to do with them. Are guys like Gordon, Dayan, Brent, Addison, Dylan, etc, every day major league ballplayers? Get them their reps and AB's. If someone comes along and blows away Kenny for one of the veterans that is one thing, but there is nothing to be gained as a franchise by freaking out on May 7 and having a fire sale. See, we actually agree on this. I think all of those guys need to be playing as well. I wish Viciedo was playing every day and not giving up time for Fukudome. I wish Reed was closing. My point was just that guys like Thornton, Ohman, Crain, Floyd, Peavy etc will not be on the roster the next time the Sox win a World Series. Meaning, they get dealt hopefully. The only things I was looking forward to this year were Reed closing, Sale starting, Viciedo playing every day, and what we could get in trade for our veterans.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2012 -> 04:45 PM) Driving off the rest of the fanbase isn't in the best long term interest of the franchise. So you are in favor of what exactly? The status quo? Keep everything the same and maybe hope that it gets better? That's insane.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2012 -> 04:09 PM) 32 posts, and this one of them... Ugh. The hangovers from Cinco de Mayo have barely faded. Quit worrying about meltdowns for a while. I am not hungover from Cinco de Mayo. It's just a general observation. How am I worrying about a meltdown? What I posted would be finally doing something in the best long term interests of the team finally.
  8. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 7, 2012 -> 02:33 PM) Does Kenny make it through the year? I don't know how KW can possibly make it through the year. I don't think it matters though. As bad as KW's minor league system is, most of that is on Reinsdorf for not spending in the draft and on the international market. I know that the new rules might help some of that but the way the White Sox do business has been a joke for a long time.
  9. QUOTE (daggins @ May 7, 2012 -> 02:28 PM) Probably late July. Though we did see the Padres already selling high on a reliever, and Jeff Luhnow is already openly talking about his trade chips. The Sox aren't as bad as those two teams but they could be in a year or so barring a major influx of new talent. Yeah, I know that it usually happens in late July. I feel like they could start earlier and possibly get more for some of their parts though. It is pointless to have Konerko and AJ and guys that still have value on this team.
  10. How soon before the White Sox start selling off parts? They cannot compete with this team. And even if they could hang around, they are not winning a title. In my opinion, in order to get good again they need to get really bad first. AJ, Thornton, Crain, Floyd, Ohman and Peavy are probabaly the most tradeable assets that the team has. I would be willing to trade anyone on the team. The Sox are 29th in attendance and that simple fact should prove that they can deal Konerko as well. If Sale is not going to be used as a starting pitcher, then he should be dealt as well. I know it takes two to tango and that it is early. I just hope this is the game plan for the coming months. This team is not fun to watch and is not going anywhere.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 16, 2012 -> 08:42 AM) I can't imagine it will matter with this group, but worth noting. http://www.csnchicago.com/blog/whitesox-ta...mp;feedID=10338 I thought Ventura made it somewhat clear that he was leaning towards De Aza in CF and Rios in LF. This should be the outcome. JJ Stankevicz makes it sound like De Aza would be the LF being replaces by Lillibridge. This is not Ozzie managing the team anymore and I thought that an actual beat writer would know that De Aza is most likely the opening day CF.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 08:53 AM) http://www.csnchicago.com/blog/whitesox-ta...mp;feedID=10338 Keith Law also has Erik Johnson in his top ten, I believe at #6.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 26, 2012 -> 02:15 PM) That Clown directed the White Sox to the only championship in your lifetime. He is no Bozo. He is the arguably greatest manager in White Sox history cause he led the team to a title. Greg, even if that is true it does not give him a lifetime pass to be the White Sox manager. Ozzie made his own bed and basically forced his way out of town just like the majority of the board has said already.
  14. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 05:48 PM) That blowhard Kaplan just said Cubs and Tigers getting close to a deal on Garza. If the Cubs can get Jacob Turner and Nick Castellanos it would be a done deal for me. I'd probably do it for Turner and filler. Jacob Turner is exactly the type of stud young pitcher the Cubs should want in return.
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 04:04 PM) Eh I wouldn't go that far, Beasley was actually the consensus 1 before Derrick's NCAA run. No....Beasley was the consensus number one for stupid people. Nobody that knows anything about basketball would have selected Beasley with all those issues over Rose. I agree that people wanted to do it....but those people are idiots
  16. Yoenis Cespedes Rumors: Friday By Mark Polishuk [January 6, 2012 at 5:58pm CST] Here's the latest on Cuban outfielder Yoenis Cespedes... A source says Cespedes' eventual contract will be in the range of four years and $32MM, writes MLB.com's Joe Frisaro. "Several teams have backed away" from Cespedes' original goal of an eight-year, $60MM contract. Frisaro says the Marlins are among the teams still very interested in the Cuban prospect. Also from Frisaro, Cespedes is tentatively expected to establish residency in the Dominican Republic on January 15, and then the outfielder will petition Major League Baseball for free agent status. The Tigers have been relatively quiet this offseason, "intensifying speculation" that the team is waiting on Cespedes to become available, reports James Schmehl of MLive.com. With Delmon Young, Austin Jackson and Brennan Boesch pencilled in as Detroit's starting outfield, the Tigers could have to make another move should they sign Cespedes, or just give him limited playing time to ease his transition to the Major Leagues. This is from mlbtraderumors...... If the price is really down to 4 years at around $32 million, do the White Sox make a play for him? I believe so.
  17. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 11:53 AM) I could see the Sox trading Danks/Thornton to the Yankees for Sanchez, Noesi, Betances and Mason Williams... Not a chance. That is way more than the Yankees would give up for one year of Danks. If that deal was ever offered, I would drive them to NY myself. If the Yanks offered Betances/Noesi and Sanchez they should take that immediately. If the Yankees were willing to include Betances it would be something like Betances, Romine, and a couple mid tier prospects. NY could get Gio for the package that you proposed.
  18. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Dec 12, 2011 -> 08:47 AM) Will everyone be happy if Kenny did land this Betances guy for John Danks? How good is Betances? Betances would be a nice piece from the Yankees. Hopefully, the deal would include Austin Romine as well and possibly another lower level prospect. 6 years of Betances and Romine would be a nice get for Danks with one year left. I was dreaming of a package including Betances, Noesi, and Romine for Danks and Thornton but I would settle for one based around Betances
  19. Seems like Gio being available is really holding things up on the Danks front. It was said that KW was asking the Yankees for Banuelos and Montero. I would accept a package without those guys in it. The Yankees have some intriguing names. If Gio gets dealt somewhere else would the Yankees part with a package headlined by Betances? What would be a realistic package in return for Danks? I would love Betances, Gary Sanchez and Hector Noesi but even that may be unrealistic. They also have OF's Mason Williams, Slade Heathcoate, and Dante Bichette JR.
  20. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 09:31 PM) Dunn was part of a failed strategy by Williams. Yeah, the strategy failed but 95% of the board was excited when they signed Dunn. You can't have it both ways. I was excited as hell for Dunn. I was excited for Peavy too because Kenny didn't trade anything of value for him. He took a shot and it backfired. The same shot that I would have taken given the circumstances so I am not going to sit back and b**** about Dunn. He was awful. But it was still a great move at the time. Don't you have a Marlins board to chat on?
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 08:23 AM) KenDavidoff Ken Davidoff The #Yankees like the #WhiteSox's John Danks, but aren't sure there's a fit for a trade. #Yankees will keep Banuelos, Betances. Well yeah, if the Yankees will not give up Betances or Banuelos than there is not fit probably. I would take Nova + others for Danks but they probably would not give up Nova either. What are the board's thoughts on potential Yankee hauls for Danks?
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 11, 2011 -> 04:00 PM) http://mlbbuzz.yardbarker.com/blog/mlbbuzz...h_danks/8029465 What is a realistic haul from the Rangers? The Sox would not be able to get Perez, Holland, or Ogando obviously but Texas has one of the best farm systems in baseball. Assuming the Sox would want pitching in return some options could be: Scheppers, Miguel De Los Santos, Kirkman, or even David Perez. Jurickson Profar, SS, would be a dream probably and they do have a load of OF prospects and 3B. What are everyone's thoughts on a potential deal with Texas?
  23. Marty34, I mean Joe Cowley will hopefully be following the Guillen family to Florida the same way that Brian Windhorst followed Lebron to Miami. Just go away. I do not want to hear another thing from Joe, Ozzie, or any of Ozzie's spoiled, idiotic, petulent children. I always heard that Ibis Guillen was a strong, nice lady. My god she must be.
  24. Not to broadcast myself completely but It's not all financial for me. I live in the southwest suburbs, am a teacher, and have no children. The past 7-8 years I would go to 8-10 games a summer. I would usually cherry pick games off of stubhub but I would still be there. I went to two games during the early part of this year. I do not anticipate going back. The team is just not fun. I love going to the ballpark. I went to Colorado this year and Pittsburgh last year. Yes the Sox were playing, but I wanted to see those parks as well. I am not paying money to see this team. If the team was actually contending I would be out there. That's what it is for me. The current team is unlikeable as well. Adam Dunn was always one of my favorite players and in the offseason I anticipated spending a lot of time at the Cell. That obviosuly has not gone according to plan. I am not spending money to see Pierre, Rios, etc. I may consider heading out in September if I know for sure that Viciedo is in the lineup and there is a chance that Addison Reed could pitch. Also, the Ozzie/Kenny dynamics are just wearing me out. I love the White Sox. But I don't love these White Sox. Sorry for the rambling but I guess that's what the board is for.
  25. Isn't Santiago probably done for the series after his workload tonight? Has anyone given any thought to sending Santiago down, going with a short pen for 3 games and inserting Dayan's bat into the lineup for the rest of the 3 game series? Then the Sox would have 4 days to figure out what to do next. Thoughts?
