  1. Just like always, our team has written a bunch of draft profiles for this cycle. I will leave them believe as they publish: Justin Campbell, RHP, Oklahoma State: https://soxmachine.com/general/2022-draft-profile-justin-campbell-rhp/ Tucker Toman, 3B, Columbia South Carolina (prep): https://soxmachine.com/general/2022-draft-profile-tucker-toman-3b/ Blade Tidwell, RHP, Tennessee: https://soxmachine.com/2022-mlb-draft/2022-draft-preview-blade-tidwell-rhp/ Logan Tanner, C, Mississippi State: https://soxmachine.com/2022-mlb-draft/2022-draft-preview-logan-tanner/ Gabriel Hughes, RHP, Gonzaga: https://soxmachine.com/2022-mlb-draft/2022-draft-profile-gabriel-hughes/ Dylan Beavers, OF, California: https://soxmachine.com/futuresox/2022-draft-profile-dylan-beavers-of/ Jett Williams, SS, Rockwall TX (prep): https://soxmachine.com/futuresox/2022-draft-profile-jett-williams-ss/ Drew Gilbert, OF, Tennessee: https://soxmachine.com/general/2022-draft-profile-drew-gilbert-of/ Sterlin Thompson, OF, Florida: https://soxmachine.com/2022-mlb-draft/2022-draft-profile-sterlin-thompson/ Robby Snelling, LHP, Reno, NV (prep): https://soxmachine.com/futuresox/2022-draft-preview-lhp-robby-snelling/ Justin Crawford, OF, Las Vegas, NV (prep): https://soxmachine.com/2022-mlb-draft/2022-draft-profile-of-justin-crawford-of/ Brock Jones, OF, Stanford: https://soxmachine.com/futuresox/2022-draft-profile-brock-jones-of/
  2. Much different guys though. Hernandez was a $1 million heralded signing out of the DR. Bailey signed for barely anything out of Panama.
  3. How high is he going to go and who is interested? Boras wants like $3-$3.5 million. Anyone going to do it?
  4. I don't see a scenario in which they trade Colson Montgomery this year
  5. Sean Burke for Birmingham tonight
  6. The White Sox might take a college pitcher in round 1 but I doubt it would be Hjerpe
  7. Someone will take him as a money saver at some point. He's 22 years old, hits right handed and plays 1B or DH only. He might be a big leaguer but guys like this just aren't that valuable because their only value is the bat.
  8. I’m guessing they’re out of money.
  9. I like him. I’ve been a fan since he was doing well as a 17-year-old in the DSL after coming straight stateside. I just don’t think he’s in top 100 consideration. It’s hard as a corner profile in High-A. He was power but not ridiculous power and that’s usually what it takes. He’s young and he could absolutely break out more in AA or something but I’ll need to see it first. He’s probably the prospect I would trade at the deadline though if he’s super valuable to the industry. He needs to be added to the 40-man in December and I’m just not sure Sox can afford to carry him for years while competing. I’d probably rank him in the 4-6 range right now but the system is definitely better than preseason
  10. No chance. Montgomery and Sosa are probably the only candidates at this point. I'm really surprised by the discussion on Ramos.
  11. 1. Brandon Barreira 2. Tucker Toman 3. Connor Prielipp 4. Drew Gilbert
  12. Not pre-draft necessarily but during for sure. His camp was looking for $900K. The White Sox met that price and he ended up here. It happens in every round, with every team, every year.
  13. They wanted Sean Burke. They agreed to a deal with Sean Burke for $900K. He likely could've gone earlier. This is the part of the process that you're refusing to understand. It's overslot because the White Sox felt he was a better player than the 94th pick. Think of it as them trading up to select him. That's essentially what it would be like in other drafts.
  14. It's a win even if they're regarded highly enough to be used in trades honestly
  15. I’ve always compared him as a cross between Josh Donaldson and Paul Goldschmidt. He’s a cornerstone player.
  16. I hated the Sheets and Walker picks. Sean Burke has been awesome though. Totally worth $900K
  17. Matthew Thompson seems to be figuring things out
  18. It’s a way to push a better player to your spot. Last year, the Sox drafted Colson Montgomery and paid slot slot. They successfully floated Wes Kath to the 2nd round by paying him $1.8 million. In the 3rd, they took Sean Burke and paid him $900K which was overslot but the price to get him there. They went under in the 4th and 6-10 so they could draft McDougal in round 5 and paid him $850K. Just kind of how the rules work
  19. Yeah I think they've been updated again. I think the building is just old honestly. I could ask around and see
  20. I think they also pay taxes in the DR and here which is an issue
  21. Yeah it happens. They aren’t avoiding a tax hit though to help themselves. They’re trying to get the player the most money possible in a capped system. Blame U.S. tax laws more than anything.
  22. I’m thinking Loidel Chapellí might be too good for the DSL
  23. Ethan Katz is the only guy on this staff that I hope sticks around long-term. He's definitely not the problem.
  24. Adam Haseley is useful but they can’t promote him because La Russa is a dipshit. He’ll play him every day against righties which is an issue
  25. I think the arrival of Davis Martin along with Burke, Vera and Mena puts them in a spot where they should double up on prep hitters again and then overslot a college starter in the 3rd again. We’ll see though. Probably depends on the board.
