MLB deal is interesting - assume that means Sox need to carry him on 40 man, right?  Doesn't look like he has pitched in a couple years after defecting.

I assume he’d need a 40 man spot since it’s an MLB deal.

Sounds good, I just hope we don't screw him up. It would be more reassuring if we knew the Sox had the right coaches down in the minors to develop his full potential like the good winning organizations do with pitchers.

Already our best reliever.

They only have for him 2 years then? He doesn’t have the full 6 years of control or whatever it usually is? Kind of a strange contract structure.

They would have him in arbitration after that

I assume he'll still be under control for 6 years, like Abreu was.

Maybe they feel if things don't work out everyone of the "core" group will either be traded or will have left in free agency in two years?

It’s a 2 year guaranteed deal, but I believe he’d still be under team control with only 2 years of service time.

In case anyone was wondering

I figured with him being 25 it wouldn’t count against their pool.  Wasn’t sure how his deal would work as to sending him to Charlotte or AZ to tune up or what.  Good to know.

After all that rowing he should have a good fastball. I have yet to concede that the World Series goes through Havana or even Cien Fuegos.

Abreu’s first agreement was a 6 year deal.

Is this dude any good? I suppose he will be in the bullpen later this Summer and we will find out soon enough!

I don't know anything about him, but if he was really good someone else would have signed him.

And here I thought signing friends and family was a 2019 thing...

I don’t think the big league deal part is true. My guess is a minors deal with a $2 million bonus.

Strange type of deal for someone who a team STRONGLY believes has the ability to be an impact talent at the major league level.

Not even Velasquez money.

I hope Paddy was in on the signing.

Sounds a bit pricey to cover the extra pitcher for the DH tomorrow, but ok.

Who said that?

Maybe when Hahn said Cousins KW thought he was talking about Leon Williams
