  1. Andujar at 3B & Machado at SS would result in some bad IF defense. Probably not a good idea when play 81 games at the Rate and should be targeting ground-ball pitchers.
  2. Holding onto seven OF prospects and having nowhere to play them at some point in the future would be foolish though. Jimenez & Robert aren’t going anywhere, but after that I fully expect to trade at least of two guys in the 18 months or so.
  3. I will say this, if we were somehow able to land both of them, we’d be sitting on a ton of prospects and nowhere to play them. We have seven OF prospects and would maybe have room for three of them if Eloy was moved to 1B. Madrigal would have to unsurp Moncada or Anderson to get an everyday job. Seems like we’d have the prospect currency to go out and land a cost-controlled TOR starter (prior to the 2020 season) to anchor an otherwise young rotation. Not sure who might be available a year from now though.
  4. Lol...I meant in 2020/2021 when the next wave of OFs hit.
  5. I don’t mean to question the guy himself, but rather the quality of his source. Either way, I still think all these L.A. rumors we’ve been hearing are Boras plants intended to drive up the price for us or the Phillies. They are better than a mystery team because they provide both the threat of money & a desirable location. I just don’t see Friedman spending $350M+ on a OF who’s been more than name than production these past few years.
  6. Honestly, it all depends on our new TV deal. I think people keep forgetting national TV money increased significantly over the past few years and we never saw the bump in payroll. Thar combined with with a nice bump in our local TV deal could push us upwards of $160M easily with no attendance increase and maybe quite a bit more.
  7. I think Eloy gets moved to 1B pretty quickly in that event.
  8. It’s truly amazing. A 26 year old, left handed with a career OPS of .900 and she’s not going for it.
  9. I think it we sign both guys, it means we’ll be rocking $175M payrolls for the foreseeable future.
  10. I still think if that guy is legit, his source is a Boras plant.
  11. Holy shit I thought this was Lillian post for a second.
  12. Well that would be news to the Cubs then. Is this the same guy who said they’re offering a 20 year deal?
  13. That’s what I’ve assuming, but great to have that finally confirmed.
  14. I know for a fact the Cubs aren’t a serious player for Harper, so it would be weird for him to wait on them.
  15. I truly don’t think both is off the table if the Dodgers are going to be timid with their offer.
  16. My view on this the entire time has been if a team offers the most money (at least 5% to 10% more than the next best bid), they probably have a 90% chance or better of landing the player. And for me, the biggest question was whether the Sox were prepared to offer a record breaking contract. Based on everything we’ve heard and our unfounded optimism at the Winter Meetings, it really seems like we’re not fucking around this time and that makes me beleive we really have a great shot here.
  17. Not that I believe the source, but great news if true. And let’s be honest, money typically wins out in these situations.
  18. Based on what he’s posted, his source must be on Machado’s side.
  19. There’s zero downside with them getting 10 years (assuming opt-ours) so they’ll definitely ask for 10 years.
