  1. Grichuk is a short side platoon guy only at this point in his career
  2. Another couple good starts for Hagen and he starts to enter the major league roster discussion IMO.
  3. Feels like the opener strategy has worked pretty good this year no?
  4. All good! My point is Venable is doing a good job with the lead off situation. All the bunts are a different matter.
  5. Interesting…was watching on my phone without sound for most of the game yesterday. That would be put him in play for the Dodgers series. If they swap out Rikuu for him, then Everson will need to start all three games in RF as Hill & Grichuk aren’t really options against righties.
  6. I didn’t come away with that from that interview. Still seems like any of the big three positional guys are in play. I will say I still think it will be Roch as Shirley has been on the kid since his HS days.
  7. Will be interring to see the length of Pereira’s assignment. This second time around, Hays was supposed to get nine games or so at Charlotte. Everson is only at two games so far and only one in the actual field. Realistically, he gets another week in Charlotte and a total of eight games, which would have him ready for the road series against the Yankees. Would they try to rush him even faster for next weekend’s series against the Dodgers? Rehab duration wise that would only be 5 games, which seems very unlikely. More importantly, if the Dodgers rotation holds, we’ll face three RHP in Sasaki, Yamamoto, & Sheehan. While I think he may be an upgrade over Rikuu against RHP, his most obvious benefit is against LHP and I wouldn’t consider rushing him unless it was for that need. Also, FWIW, the Yankees are currently projected to have two lefties face us in Rodon & Weathers. Again, that’s the series I would expect Pereira back for.
  8. Good to see. Feels like he’s been slumping a bit as of late.
  9. His current offensive production isn’t radically different from his recent production though. His xwOBA is five points higher than last year. I’m just not going to overindex on a six or seven game sample for a near 32 year old player.
  10. He had a 103 wRC+ last year despite those 20 HRs. He a 93 wRC+ the year before despite 20 HRs. He is a league averagish hitter which isn’t very good for a DH. Not sure where you came up with this idea that he is more than that.
  11. Jerry will want to win one more title before his ticket is punched…I could see him going out of character and signing a big name pitcher if he feels the other pieces are all in place to be successful.
  12. Did you honestly just cite Benintendi winning a Gold Glove four or five years ago having any merit on his defense today? He is far and away the worst defensive outfielder in the sport and by wide margin. His inability to play a passable LF has destroyed any chance of him being an above replacement level player. If/when this team is fully healthy and if Gonzalez is legit, there is a very strong argument that Benintendi is the weak link on the roster and the one who should go. Not sure why this is so upsetting to you…
