That was fucking intentional. Better hit one of their guys now. -
FG 2018 Top White Sox Prospects
Chicago White Sox replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in FutureSox Board
Couples interesting takes: Collins being listed as a 1B and being valued so highly is very surprising They’re obviously much higher on Burdi than other publications Cease, Rutherford, Basabe, & Sheets all seem a grade low for me (and I mean coming into the season, not with the benefit of hindsight) Surprised that Puckett is the highest rated guy of the second tier pitching prospects, well ahead of Stephens who I would have picked as the favorite None of our high end relief (Hamilton, Burr, Vieira, etc) prospects making it seems pretty ridiculous IMO Slightly surprised Curbelo fell off the list, but can understand why -
https://www.fangraphs.com/scoutboard.aspx?draft=&type=&pos=&team=chw While they haven’t officially released the list, they do have rankings for the Sox on their THE BOARD feature. For now I’ll assume these are legit, but we’ll now for sure shortly as Longenhagen is currently on the AL Central for his write-ups. Below is the list with FV grades: 1. Jimenez, RF (65) 2. Kopech, RHP (60) 3. Robert, CF (60) 4. Hansen, RHP (50) 5. Burdi, RHP (50) 6. Collins, 1B (50) 7. Dunning, RHP (50) 8. Cease, RHP (45) 9. Adolfo, RF (45) 10. Burger, 3B (45) 11. Rutherford, LF (45) 12. Cordell, OF (40) 13. Fulmer, RHP (40) 14. Sheets, 1B (40) 15. Puckett, RHP (40) 16. Gonzalez, OF (40) 17. Zavala, C (40) 18. Basabe, CF (40) 19. Clarkin, LHP (40) 20. Adams, RHP (40) 21. Bummer, LHP (40) 22. Stephens, RHP (40) 23. Mendick, SS (40)

Not to be the PC police here, but basically saying he is mentally retarded when it comes to baseball intelligence is a pretty terrible take. He definitely is prone to errors bat that is entirely related to a lack of focus and/or poor fundamentals. That can and should be coached up in time if our staff is worth a damn. He may never reach his defensive potential, but thinking he will play himself off the team because of the glove is laughable IMO.

Hopefully Fulmer can keep the positive momentum going. -
I don’t get the Viciedo comp at all. They are almost completely opposite hitters.
-
1) His .356 OBP is already fine and will increase a little bit as his BABIP improves. The offensive profile (low BA, high OBP, high ISO) works in today’s game and I generally believe his K rate will improve slightly over time. 2) The only realistic options for him are DH & 1B. Right now, I’d keep him where he’s at given how well he’s hitting. No need to disrupt a good thing. 3) You’re still too way worried about lineup balance. It’s the second year of our rebuild. If we need a left-handed power bat at some point, we’ll do it when the time is right. For now let Davidson play and hopefully increase his value.
-
Luis Gonzalez needs to get the K rate under control a bit, but he’ll be pushing towards a promotion to W-S soon enough. I really hope he doesn’t get stuck in low A all year because of the crowded OF mix at W-S.
-
Jimmy Lambert having a fantastic season. If the rumors of a velocity increase are true, we just may have something here
-
What makes you think Anderson’s defense is having any impact on his hitting? You really should have posted these ideas/theories in the hot take thread, because the Sox aren’t moving Anderson off SS until they have to or a better option comes along.
-
Yeah I will bet against you. There is literally zero chance Anderson is the starting CF come next season.
-
Is that six HR’s against and four against Duffy?
-
Especially since he has five years of control, which is shocking to me.
-
? Greg hates Davidson now that us “statniks” are finally intrigued.
-
How is Duffy’s pickoff move? Any chance they have Moncada run here?
-
What did they give up??
-
Still not sure how we plan to address the pass rush. Happy with our first two picks, but EDGE was realistically our biggest need and it’s going to be nearly impossible to find a decent option by the time we make our next pick. I wouldn’t be surprised if we trade up to the 2nd or 3rd if there is an interesting EDGE that slips.
-
Finally got a prediction right!
-
That seems incredibly low to me, how are you defining “pan out”?
-
There are several interior linemen with 1st round grades still available. Seems like a good chance one of them makes it to #7. I think James Daniels could be the pick there if Pace doesn’t move down and try to recoup a 3rd.

If more than one starter comes from outside our organization it’s a massive fail. We’ve been through this but our rotation by mid season should be Rodon, Kopech, Lopez, Giolito, & Fulmer. That’s three guys who were considered top 20 prospects at some point in time, one guy who was a top 40, and another who was a top 100. Not all these guys will pan out or remain healthy, but that’s where the next wave comes in. Hansen & Dunning, another pair of top 100 prospects, will be knocking at the door next season. And by 2020 another insanely talented prospect in Cease should pushing for a shot. Even with normal bust rates we’ll have a ton of options. And we’ll want to give those promising young arms a chance to actually develop in the majors. CaliSox is right that in terms of timing we may need to add a veteran to the mix to provide some certainty, but that will depend on how the first wave develops. If three of that Rodon, Kopech, Lopez, & Giolito group can hold down the top three spots in our rotation by 2020, we may not need to anything. Too early to say, but to suggest we’ll need to add two or three rotation arms from the outside is suggesting more than 50% of our elite arms bust and that none of our secondary arms (Fulmer, Adams, Stephens, Clarkin, etc) end up making it. And quite frankly, that’s an “all has gone wrong” assumption.

You might get your wish, Rappaport just said the Bears are trying to trade up into the 1st round.
-
This post makes my brain hurt. Why for the love of god must you name drop to this level. You clearly know a ton about baseball, just get to the point and create more coherent posts.

Zavala is the real fucking deal with the bat. If he can stick at catcher, we may have something special here.
