Come on Robertson, no walks tonight! Let's get a win and build up that trade value! -
QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 08:11 PM) Yeah it's 2 1/2 years and just under $30M left for Robertson. Really not unreasonable at all in my opinion. Take out 3 bad outings this year and there really isn't much to complain about Eh, he's walked a ton of guys this year. I'm worried he could have a steep falloff in the next season or two and I'd rather take a prospect or two for him and call it a day.

Saladino is easily my favorite player on this team! Make them pay bud! -
QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 08:12 PM) Posted this over in the Trade Winds forums as well, but Sanchez was pulled early in the bottom of the 3rd for Delmonico. Anyone got any ideas the reason behind that? Seems odd to pull him so early. #HugWatch? Injury?

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 08:05 PM) http://mlbfarm.com/index.php?team=CWS&date=2016-07-26 Alex Call 2-4, HR. Stud. He may be a top five prospect in our system at this point. Dude looks legit IMO.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 08:04 PM) He has a year and a half of control too. Robertson? He has two and half years of control right?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 07:57 PM) The Nationals have some guys even besides their top ones who could get a deal done. Yeah, this is Robertson we're talking about. The 5th or 6th prospect in a strong system is good enough as the headliner if we're not eating any salary.

Top White Sox Prospects, Midseason 2016 - Players 16-30
Chicago White Sox replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That list is pretty depressing when you consider how much some of those prospects have fallen this season. The top half of the list should be a lot more exciting with the 2016 draftees in there. Regardless, I'm still not sure how Buddy Bell has his job. For a while you could argue there was a serious talent issue, but it's clear as night and day that we have an issue on the player development side. -
The Possibility of the Curve Ball from the Sox...
Chicago White Sox replied to shipps's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If we don't sell, I'm going to take a break from White Sox baseball until there are changes in the front office. Failure to sell in the ultimate seller's market when we're 6.5 games out of a playoff spot would be one of the most short-sighted decisions in franchise history. I'm trying to remain optimistic that they've finally learned that endless retooling doesn't lead to sustainable success, but with this braintrust & ownership group it's hard not to fear the worst. -
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 05:24 PM) Wonder if adding Robertson and eating some money would help land both in a Q deal? Red Sox are not paying a premium in prospects for cash savings. And Robertson is nowhere near good enough to warrant an elite prospect being included.
-
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 05:22 PM) I can see only one for Quintana but both for Sale. I agree with this. Don't think they'll give up both for Q.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 03:56 PM) I think that it is a common fallacy among fans to assume the extent that previous trades for given player archetypes "set the market" in the MLB. This is due to two factors: (1) the buyer is who determines the maximum price paid, since the deal isn't made if the seller's demands aren't met, and (2) every time a deal is made, it removes a team from the running in future deals, and the team that just got removed just so happened to be the one that was willing to pay the highest price for the similar player. The Red Sox are not removed from adding a top of the rotation starter because of Pomeranz. In fact, I'd argue it's still their biggest need and one that DD would love to address. Whether they'll end up paying that price remains to be seen, but no way the Sox should accept anything less. Given the lack high-end starters in the league right now, someone will pay a ridiculous price eventually.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 03:44 PM) No chance we'd get both Moncada and Benintendi, but either is perfectly reasonable as a centerpiece if the other pieces are strong. Benintendi is going to be an absolute monster. The contact rate is good, the plate discipline is good, and I've seen the power with my own eyes -- he played our team the year he was drafted, and hit two homers, one of which is the only ball I've ever seen clear the fence, the road, and land in the water outside the Staten Island Ferry. The pop is legit. For Sale? If Chapman & Pomerez are worth top 20 prospects (plus some for Chapman), you're telling me Sale isn't worth two top 10 prospects? I'm definitely not dealing Sale to the Red Sox without both Moncada & Benintendi in the deal. Anything less is a huge undersell IMO.
-
Anyone hear the Heyman interview on Mulley & Hanley this morning? My Cubs buddy claims he said that Quintana gets you half of what Sale does. Can anyone verify that? If true, then definitely deal Sale and hold onto Q.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 07:44 PM) I get really frustrated when it's time for us to sell. When it was Peavy, that he was 1.5 control we thought it would be such an asset to get more back. Then what did we hear back? "teams were looking for a cheaper option" When it was Rios "Just a rental, shouldn't expect much back" I feel like when push comes to shove we'll hear "Too good for the market, teams went after cheaper options" I'm getting a bad feeling the Sox are going to f*** this up. Not sure if I'm just overreacting to the Sale nonsense yesterday or Robertson's horrific 9th today, but I'm not overly optimistic right now. Watching other sellers acting swiftly and getting premium returns isn't helping matters.
-
Was talking with a Cubs buddy earlier and saying it's absolutely crazy that Pomerez nets a top 20 prospect and Chapman nets a top 30 prospect. Sox better not f*** this up. The market is insane right now for pitching and we have a chance to accelerate our rebuilding efforts exponentially if we make the right deals.

David Robertson is a fantastic closer
Chicago White Sox replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 06:19 PM) Wins matter for the manager. Ultimately, that is how he's judged. A good organization would have a front office that tells their coaching not overuse their closer that they plan on trading in the next week. Robertson doesn't have a rubber arm and this was just asking for trouble. -
QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 05:01 PM) Dude calm down... Why? I should be cool with some dude relentlessly trolling this board? f*** that, it's beyond pathetic and the dude should be called out for it.
-
QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 04:56 PM) Its clear this organizations mistreatment of Sale is having an effect on Robertson. Heads must roll within the front office. Dude, get the f*** off this site. Who spends this much time trolling a message board? You're entire existence is a f***ing joke.

I'll say this much, we desperately need to get rid of Robertson, no matter what the return is. It honestly won't take much of stuff and/or command decline for this guy to become an albatross.
