QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 07:47 PM) As I said yesterday...give him time down there. Some of the things we have heard suggest that a big part of his struggles last year were mental-driven, so giving him time to fully have his confidence together is not a bad thing. It's not like EJ is going to "Save this season". It's not about saving the season, it's about having an extended look at him against major league hitters. We need to know what we have in him and the larger the sample the more confident we'll feel. We're clearly going to have to move some pitching this offseason to fix our offense, whether it's a major league piece or prospects, and I know I'd feel a lot better about moving pitching if I felt Johnson could hold the #4 spot quite effectively.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 07:46 PM) Just to say again...the MLBPA would never allow this. Honestly, just throw his ass in the bullpen. See if he gains a couple MPH on his fastball if used in short stints. If not, then you simply DFA him and eat the money. At this point, we have to accept the fact other teams will not view him as a major league starter. No reason to keep trotting him out there every 5 days when a better internal option is available IMO.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 07:31 PM) How much longer do we have to watch Danks It's not like we have a former top prospect who is dominating AAA once again and appears to be ready for another big league opportunity.

Your Mid-Season Top 30 Prospects
Chicago White Sox replied to GGajewski18's topic in FutureSox Board
I think several of the international free agents in addition to Adolfo will make the top 30. I'm pretty high on Antonio Rodriguez for a rookie ball type and believe he'll end up in the low 20's. -
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 08:16 PM) Kottras for Soto; whatever Flowers isn't, he's better than Soto. Johnson for Shark I don't agree that Flowers is better than Soto and either do the advanced metrics.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 08:06 PM) Micah for Carlos Kottaras for Flowers Johnson for Danks. 100% agree on all three moves.

Murder's Row coming up. Game should end here.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 01:32 PM) Micah with a HR, Kottaras with a slam and Johnson on the mound looking good so far. Call them all up!!

Has Alexei been affected by Minnie's death?
Chicago White Sox replied to Quin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 12:54 PM) Not sure about Alexei. But the loss of qwerty/Kalapse has GREATLY affected me. Haven't been right since. Wow, can you not make a single post that doesn't involve dick sucking? If it's not LeBron or the Cubs, it's random Soxtalk posters. -
QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 02:11 AM) I don't think going with the Wii brand was a bad idea at all. Not simply calling it the Wii 2 was stupid. When I first heard about the Wii U I thought it was a f***ing add on, not a whole new console. The name may have killed it before it had a chance. Going with Wii 2 is something that is clear to the audience and everyone will know it's the new version. Wii U sounded like a college version of the original. I agree with your logic here, the Wii 2 or something like Super Wii would have been way better. Like you said, the Wii U sounds like an add-on and when it was announced, everything focused on the controller. It really seemed like a new peripheral for the Wii. And even when more details were, announced the fact all your Wii stuff could still be used added confusion. Having said that, the Wii U was never going to resonate with the casual audience, which is why I think keeping the Wii brand was a mistake. The controller was expensive and its theoretical benefits should have been for hardcore gamers. Nintendo tried to get that causal audience anyways with Nintendoland, but it was never going to be another Wii Sports. Ultimately, they tried to leverage the Wii brand, but failed to build an offering at a price point that would appeal to the same customers.

Multiple Victims in Charleston SC Church Shooting
Chicago White Sox replied to Rex Kickass's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 01:08 PM) 1. I posted the link. You could choose not to follow it. 2. I feel understanding the thoughts that leads people to become terrorists is important in building a society that doesn't breed them. We turn our backs on the hatred people spew on a daily basis then when it comes back in the form of a terrorist with a gun we raise our hands and say "oh how could we have known". The guy is clearly a mentally-ill individual who convinced himself that blacks were evil. Did you honestly need to read his manifesto to know that out? And now that you did, have you figured out how to build a society that doesn't breed these "terrorists" as you refer to them as? What did you learn from his manifesto that we can use stop these attacks going forward? -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 11:57 AM) Gawker posted at least a large portion of the text in their article on it. Why don't you stop bringing attention to this piece of s*** and avoid spreading his hate manifesto? The publicity these killers get is oftentimes equally or even more important than the lives they take. I get you must tie every tragedy into your political agenda, but can you please do without posting this garbage? -
Robin had the guys come an hour late to the stadium today. Not sure what to think about that, but figured I would share.

Rick Hahn is the last person you should blame
Chicago White Sox replied to Jose Abreu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 09:34 AM) Which is, to note, another indictment of the White Sox coaching and development. Other teams are ok with figuring out how to develop Phegley and Semien, we get them up quickly, decide we don't like them, declare them unteachable, and then move on. I think we should all wait until the season is over before jumping to any conclusions on Semien & Phegley. Marcus' offensive numbers aren't nearly as impressive as they were earlier this year and I don't believe for a second Josh is a major league catcher if you factor in pitch-calling and other defensive elements that are hard to quantify. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 08:50 AM) I don't even know if I should post this....We have a new hire in our IT department, so take this with a huge grain of salt, buy she claims to know Samardjiza and said he will be traded in the next week. If you want him traded, I wouldn't get my hopes up. I cannot verify if this is accurate for a week. While I'd be surprised if the front office was that forward with Shark, it would make a lot of sense to put him on the market ASAP if you want to maximize your return.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 08:26 AM) Yes I would make that trade. I'm not one of the guys advocating trading Quintana though. If that were the package, I'd definitely do it though. Yeah, I'd hate to trade Quintana for obvious reasons, but getting two guys that are pretty much major league ready with tons of upside in Schwarber & Baez would have to make you consider it. For the Cubs, these two plus Vogelbach are somewhat spare parts. Doesn't mean they have to move them for Quintana, but I see some or all of these guys being used to acquire a frontline starting pitcher at some point. I'd say the matchup is pretty good between us and them. If we could resign Shark to a reasonable extension, then I would do the trade. We'd still have a 1-2-3 of Sale/Shark/Rodon with Johnson, Danish, Montas, & Fulmer in the mix for 2016/2017.
-
QUOTE (bulokis @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 12:10 AM) trade him back to the Cubs, get some of those hitting prospects they have Real talk, but would people here trade Quintana for Schwarber, Baez, & Vogelbach? Would the Cubs even consider this? Unfortunately, I think our best bet for a quick turnaround may be trading Quintana for a couple major league ready hitting prospects and resigning Shark to an extension. Just don't think we'll get enough value for Shark to move the needle.

QUOTE (onedude @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:53 PM) Lol...fair? The Sox are last in almost every offensive category. It would be unfair to keep him on the team...along with a few others Let's be honest, the failures primarily fall on the players. Having said that, it's Steverson's job to improve guys' approaches at the plate, especially if they're pressing. He's clearly not adding any value right now, so there's nothing to lose, but I'm not sure he deserves to be the first guy to go. Flowers & Sanchez both deserve to go before him IMO. That's why I said fair.
-
Mods, can we add a poll here? Would really like to see people's thoughts on this.
-
At some point, the hitting coach has to be accountable for the epic failures of this offense. May not be fair, but there's nothing to lose at this point. I say shake things up and hope the offense responds.

6/19 - White Sox vs Rangers
Chicago White Sox replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in 2015 Season in Review
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:36 PM) Sale was cruising and had no high stress innings tonight. I really don't get pulling him with the way he was throwing. 100% agree. Not a fan of normally going that high on the pitch count, but he's also our stopper and would have very likely won us the game tonight if he kept Chris in. Any small sliver of hope of a turnaround ended tonight. -
6/19 - White Sox vs Rangers
Chicago White Sox replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in 2015 Season in Review
There's really no reason to keep Steverson around at this point. The entire lineup is underperforming and it's not entirely due to a lack of talent. Half of the team has terrible approaches at the plate and part of that falls on the hitting coach. May not be fair, but there is no downside it firing him and maybe it finally wakes up these f***s. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:01 PM) At this point the game is a must-win and you give Chris a chance to close it out despite his pitch count. I stand by this comment. Hopefully Eaton here can save our asses, but I think pulling Sale was an incredibly stupid decision. -
