  1. Dunn better man up here. We may not have another runner on 2B the rest of the game.
  2. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 05:26 PM) Nice job Alejandro, off a lefty to boot He's actually hitting lefties way better than righties this year.
  3. Holy s*** 3 runs scored and a tie game!?!
  4. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 31, 2013 -> 09:57 PM) To be fair, the Sox have only 1 more postseason win than the Royals in the last 7 seasons. 7 is quite the peculiar number. Why not look at the last 8 seasons? Oh wait, then you'd have to add 11 postseason wins for the Sox. That would ruin your agenda wouldn't it?
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 05:12 PM) $2,075,000. No way they offer him arbitration for 2014 at this rate. He might not even last all of 2013 in a Sox uniform. You can probably offer it to him one more time with little risk, but unfortunately the arbitration process rewards poor performers. His salary is likely to double even if he finishes the season with a .700 OPS.
  6. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 1, 2013 -> 04:55 PM) De Aza is not a everyday player he is a 4th OF. I'm really starting to believe that. He's not strong enough defensively to play CF everyday (long-term at least) and he doesn't hit enough to be a good corner outfielder. Whether you stick him in LF or CF, it seems like he'll be an average player at best. He'd make a terrific 4th/platoon outfielder for a lot of teams, but the problem for us is he's already in the process of being paid like a starter. The only good news is Trayce Thompson had a strong May. He might be ready for the starting CF job by opening day 2015.
  7. I've seen enough of De Aza is CF. He is just terrible out there. I said it all offseason, but I really wish we had traded him when his value was high.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 31, 2013 -> 11:13 PM) I never root for injuries, but I would love to see the Strasburg situation blow up in Washington's face. So easy to root against them. Totally agree.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 31, 2013 -> 11:18 PM) It's like he keeps expecting the team from the first 4 1/2 months last year to just magically appear out of thin air if he's just patient enough. Yeah, I think it's critical for a manager to have a certain amount of patience, but at some point you have to shake things up a bit. First off, move Dunn down in the lineup and never play him against a lefty again. Instead give Casper Wells some god damn at-bats or else call someone else up more useful. Start playing Gimenez more against righties. Move De Aza down in the lineup. Bat Gillaspie leadoff against righties if necessary. Group as many of our "hot" hitters at the top of the lineup and hope we can string multiple hits together in a row. Anything is better than seeing this same mess of a lineup every single day.
  10. QUOTE (Baron @ May 31, 2013 -> 11:16 PM) I bet the lineup is the exact same tomorrow I think Robin may be more stubborn than Ozzie.
  11. This is just laughable. Officially time to do something, anything else. f*** you very much White Sox offense & bullpen!
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 31, 2013 -> 11:04 PM) If Thornton came in to start this inning and they scored, Ventura would have been roasted. I'vs got to be honest, I don't like bringing in relievers with a runner in scoring position and no outs, so I was fine with the decision. Also, Matt Thornton is just a total coward and should not be used in high leverage situations if possible.
  13. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 31, 2013 -> 11:00 PM) I'll say this much, please let Axelrod stay in. Nice work asshole.
  14. I'll say this much, please let Axelrod stay in.
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ May 31, 2013 -> 10:48 PM) Yeah, and they should hire Robin Ventura as manager. Oh wait... I'll take the guy off the street with no manergial experience over the player-manager 10 times out of 10. Good thing there were only two options out there to manage the White Sox.
  16. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 31, 2013 -> 10:41 PM) Sox are playing with fire not scoring any runs. Gotta get Dunn out of the 4 spot. Stack the hitters and hope they can produce amongst themselves. We got to get Dunn off this team. I tried to be optimistic earlier this season and thought he was turning things around when he had that little hot stretch, but he is a f***ing joke. A dozen HRs doesn't make up for a .153 AVG & .245 OBP. He's killing our offense batting cleanup on a daily basis.
  17. Johnson through 5 on only 50 pitches. ERA now below 2.00.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ May 31, 2013 -> 07:35 PM) They should have just tried to win a championship last year. No doubt about it. They would have had a great chance to win it all last year. Got to take advantage of those opportunities when they come around, because nothing is ever promised tomorrow.
  19. I think Granderson would make sense as a potential Dunn replacement IF he'll give us a hometown discount and take a short-term contract. Something along the lines of two years, $18 million. Have him DH half the time and hopefully that would reduce some of the wear and tear. Obviously this is all dependent on him finishing this season healthy and productive.
  20. We all need to remember if a prospect ain't Mike Trout from day one then he will always suck. Young players simply don't improve over time, especially not ones that are already 25 years old. Gillaspie should probably hang up his cleats now before he continues embarrassing himself and all us SoxTalk meatheads.
  21. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 31, 2013 -> 05:08 PM) Craziest Trade Idea........................... is for Rick Hahn to trade who he wants without KW involved with his veto power. How many moves has KW vetoed so far?
  22. QUOTE (SoIL @ May 31, 2013 -> 09:21 AM) Yes Gillaspie was traded for, not released. Hard to take someone yelling MEATHEADS seriously when they don't know or bother to look up the facts. Certainly is funny though. This is the same poster who yesterday said the only reason the rest of us meatheads didn't realize the Cubs were way better than the Sox was because they are in a division with the Cardinals. This would imply that the Cubs have the played the Cardinals a lot this season. Upon five seconds of research, I determined the Cubs have played the Cardinals TWICE all year. Unfortunately for the original poster, facts aren't a meathead's best friend.
  23. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 31, 2013 -> 08:57 AM) Why is there no chance of this? Just curious as to your reasons. If they feel like he's the best guy they could take him. It does seem unlikely since they took two HS catchers last year, one in the 7th round and another in the 17th round who was a big overslot signing. Neither guy is in full-season ball yet, so you're really looking at a real logjam next year at Kannapolis if you select a HS catcher in the 1st round. Obviously you can't rule it out completely, but I think this guy would have to be the undisputed BPA or else they'd look at other positions or players who could help a little sooner.
  24. I think the real takeaway from this thread is that Buddy Bell has been too aggressive with these guys. Mitchell never should have been promoted to AAA last year, let alone start there this year. Walker had 143 ABs in high A last year, so I'm not sure why they decided to send him to AA this year. Hawkins I'm torn on because he was such a monster last year. In hindsight, low A probably makes more sense to be a little conservative and he still would have been on the young side for the league. Having said that, I was ok with the high assignment this year. Nothing in his performance last season would have foreshadowed his K problem this year, even with an aggressive assignment.
  25. Short of a miraculous rebound from him in the 2nd half, I hope they simply release Dunn this coming offseason. This team has enough offensive problems as is and having a black hole at DH is just icing on the cake. I just don't see any value in keeping him if he's in his last year of his contract and hopefully Hahn & Jerry agree.
