Robbie Grossman traded to TEX for RHP Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa
I was strictly referring to trades. I liked both the Fedde & Pham moves.

Go back and look at the trades Getz has made and I have been consistent with my takes. I didn’t like the Fletcher trade because I viewed him as a low upside tweener whereas Mena was young & athletic with the possibility of untapped potential. I wasn’t a huge fan of the Santos return, and in particular, I viewed DeLoach as a AAAA type player. I found the Thompson for Horn trade to be a bit confusing strategy wise and the fact they already cut Bailey is concerning. I did like Cease trade as soon as it was made though, so I can assure you I’m not hating out of joy here. Unfortunately, when you have the worst major league roster assembled in recent money, every little bit of talent helps. And yeah, burning an arm with real upside like Mena for what certainly looks like a 4th OF hurts. Just because we have a lot of interesting young SP prospects doesn’t change the fact we could have used Mena in a trade for something more valuable. It was a highly questionable move at the time and even moreso now. That alone doesn’t mean Getz is going to fail, but it would be nice if one of the 25+ year old OFs he acquired could fill an actual spot (even if temporarily) instead of forcing us to cut more youngsters to create spots for a guy like Rafael Ortega.

5/7 Games
Daniel Hudson was pretty awesome in 2009. Jon Rauch also had that one minor league pitcher of the year season.

I’m sorry, but trading controllable talent always matter. And the early returns outside of the Cease trade don’t look too hot.

It could still work out great. And I’m not ready to write off DeLoach either. Just super frustrating that we acquired a pair of 25+ year old OFs and neither can help us right now despite two massive openings on the major league roster.

Zach DeLoach currently has zero HR’s at fucking Charlotte a month into the season. This is what happens when you replace the legendary Haber laptop with Gene Watson unfortunately.

Bummer to ATL
To be fair, Bummer makes ~$4.5M above league average and has a $1.25M buyout, so his total cost above the minimum was $5.75M. This year alone, Lopez and Soroka make $5.3M above the minimum plus the guy the Sox replaced Bummer with (Tim Hill) makes $0.8M above the minimum. The dollars are fairly close to even overall…we just filled multiple holes with low upside players instead of holding hope on the higher upside guy. I’m not going to lose sleep over this trade (and didn’t mind taking a shot on Soroka), but it was always a long shot of actually delivering any value and that’s proven true so far.

I will applaud Getz for getting anything for Robbie Grossman. I think it’s way too early to say all the various puts and takes have been worth it. I’m not yet convinced Matthew Thompson in a relief role is not a better prospect than this dude, who we could have just kept and not tied up a 40 man spot by trading for the late great Bailey Horn. I guess we shall wait and find out.

Can’t stop this hot streak that Getz is on!

Fire Chris Getz
Bump. At this point, Rick Hahn has been a more productive GM for the White Sox over the past 12 months than Chris Getz. Hell, I bet Haber’s laptop with a little ChatGPT could have built a better team than the shitshow Getz has put together. It’s almost impossible to fathom, but there is a legit argument a first year GM should be one and done with him. He’s simply been that bad on so many levels so far into his tenure. I do look forward to hearing his Stan’s give him a complete free pass for everything that has gone wrong this season though.

Sox @ Rays 5-7, 5:50PM CDT
Because Getz whiffed significantly on the two 25+ year old AAAA OFs he acquired.

Pham up, Pillar out
We don’t know anything for sure….but Fletcher needing more AAA seasoning is a very bad sign. And his tweener status is pretty much confirmed by watching the games as he can’t play a good CF and doesn’t have the tools to be a quality offensive RF. I really hope he proves me wrong, but so far everything the kid’s done has reaffirmed my belief that he’s nothing more than a 4th OF type talent. Beyond that, the bigger concern is what a theoretical miss on Fletcher (and potentially DeLoach) means for faith in our pro scouting function. We traded controllable pieces for older OF prospects who already had experience in AAA and yet both dudes require more seasoning despite the massive holes we have in the OF at the moment. I viewed the Gene Watson move as a negative when it first happened and watching Rafael Ortega get opportunities over these two kids doesn’t install much confidence.

4/26 Games
Some publications have him ranked that high or higher. He’s like 50th overall on the Fangraphs list. Law has him as a top 100 guy I believe. Just BA & Pipeline don’t have him ranked that high.

And you must be tripping balls to think Brad fucking Keller is an important part of our team’s future.
-
Pham up, Pillar out
I find it insane you think the “returns” we will get for Soroka, Flexen, Keller, & Leone will make any sort of meaningful difference to our future. Right now, the odds of us getting even a C tier prospect for any of them is low. Hell, one of them isn’t even on the major league roster and two of the others are potential DFA candidates before the trade deadline comes along. These guys are simply fodder to buy time until the actual prospects are ready and nothing more.

4/26- Rays at Sox, 6:40, AppleTV
Are you serious? That’s the same type of s%*# Hahn used to do.
-
Pham up, Pillar out
Hahn didn’t trade a top 10 prospect for a 26 year tweener OF who they just demoted. Hahn didn’t trade for a 26 year LH reliever who required a 40 man roster spot only to DFA him two months later. And while Hann did sign plenty of shitty vets in his time, he didn’t sign these shitty vets. There is plenty to blame Hahn for, but Getz is also failing in real time.

Under no circumstance is Riley Gowens age appropriate in High A. There may be a bunch of org guys in High A bumping up the league average age, but there are likely very few legit prospects (if any) that are 24 years of age.
-
Pham up, Pillar out
Thankfully he’s 21 years old and one of the youngest players in AAA

lol…what in the actual f***

Pham up, Pillar out
Holy f***, are you actually Chris Getz? This is literally one of the most insane posts I have seen on this board in my 20+ years posting here.

Pham up, Pillar out
Thankfully he had no role in that farm system

But, but, but….Rick Hahn! It must be his fault somehow!
