Eloy won’t be here by Opening Day. And would Busch be a terrible fielder at 1B? Seems like he’d almost certainly be an upgrade over Vaughn.

Nick Padilla outrighted, Adam Haseley becomes a FA

That would be the far likelier scenario, but not a bold prediction. The Saturday before the Winter Meetings is swing for the fences! -

Just wait until next off-season when Juan Soto is a free agent! -

Like I said, Cease trade 100% happening Saturday afternoon…Getz has to get his work done before Michigan plays Iowa that night -
I don’t view it as a Busch headliner, but rather I see Busch & Sheehan as co-headliners. And along with them comes a very interesting RF prospect who if not for an injury last year could be as highly regarded as the others. IMO, this deal is only possible because Busch is a 26 year old bat oriented prospect.
-
Because I think they’re very separate markets. And hell, the Dodgers need multiple SPs and Cease’s contract would slot in nicely if they go out to fill one of those spots with premium FA and/or Ohtani.
-
Interesting. That seems like a pretty damn good package to me. What’s your beef with the trade?
-
Bat first RH hitting 2B (he really hasn’t played much OF) just doesn’t seem like it would be high on Getz’s list.
-
Bold prediction, but I’m going with Cease to the Dodgers sometime Saturday afternoon for Busch, Sheehan, & Pages.
-
I’d 100% want Mayo over Kjerstad. I just think he’s untouchable, but admittedly I’m big Kjerstad fan. The power is legit and we haven’t had a LH bat that could potentially bat in the middle of the lineup in a long time.
-
Norby is younger than Ortiz, but doesn’t fit the style of play that Getz seems to be prioritizing. I’d be shocked if he was the #2 piece in a Cease trade.
-
FWIW, Orioles fans are higher on Kjerstad than Cowser right now. Not sure if that’s due to Cowser struggling in his initial cup of coffee or what, but Cowser had much better prospect status than Kjerstad as recently as the All Star break this past season. It will be very interesting to see where those two land in BA’s update top 10 list for the Orioles tomorrow. I’m guessing Cowser gets passed over by guy or two.
-
The Orioles may be hesitant to move Hall or Povich given their lack of pitching depth in the minors and I’m 100% ok with that. Give me Hjerstad, Ortiz, and a lesser positional prospect and I’m all in.
-
I just got done working and couldn’t have gotten better news. Let’s get this s%*# done!
-
I need a real fucking rumor badly. I did read the Cardinals aren’t done adding SP and would still like to add an impact starter. Not much else out there at the moment.
-
It’s probably somewhere in between, but the reality is Eloy is just an awkward dude and will more susceptible to injuries than most players even if he improves prep, conditioning, etc.
-
Until you replace all his human parts with robot parts, you have to assume Eloy will miss significant time every year.
-
If they’re desperate enough, give me Busch, Sheehan, & Pages.

Guess the White Sox Opening Day Payroll
Chicago White Sox replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I’m guessing we max out around $130M to $140M. -
Oh f*** yes…please feed me more of these sweet Rosenthal nuggets

100%, but at least there would be some chance of having a competent lineup if most things worked out. I just don’t see how we do that anytime soon without leveraging Cease unfortunately. I think there is a far better chance that we luck out with more advanced pitching prospects and are able to cobble together a halfway decent rotation, especially with the addition of Bannister.
-
Unfortunately for now he’s the best we have ?
-
It’s 100% the solution. Gives you potentially a very complete lineup with your only major hole at at 1B/DH, which is the one spot we can afford to go after top end guys (such as Alonso next year). 1B: Free Agent 2B: Montgomery* SS: Ortiz 3B: Ramos LF: Benintnedi* CF: Robert RF: Kjerstad* DH: Vaughn CA: Quero#
-
I believe it’s like half a grade above average, but wouldn’t be special in RF and wouldn’t compensate for the fact his range would likely be limited. I think the hot corner is his best spot unfortunately.
