  1. It’s a YouTube video of someone taking a Nightengale report, misinterpreting it, plugging it into a useless trade calculator, and drawing ridiculous conclusions.
  2. lol…at least we have Jim Riley to settle the matter
  3. Woof…this may be a worse offseason than ours so far
  4. Come on man, just because a guy isn’t on the table yet doesn’t mean he won’t be eventually. The off-season isn’t even close to over right now. And it’s not bidding against yourself if the player doesn’t have to be sold right now. Even if there is only one interested party, you have it to make it worth our while or else we can wait. And yes, that opens us up to risk that ideally we’d avoid, but it’s worth the gamble if we all we can get is a subpar offer. As for you guys, going with current group you have would be super risky and I think you will pay a much steeper price come July vs. what you would right now for Cease or a similarly talented pitcher.
  5. A package of Jones + Hampton + something else is probably better and I’m not yet convinced that isn’t eventually on the table this off-season. As for your second point…you still don’t have the leverage here. Even if it’s the best deal right now, it doesn’t mean it will be the best deal come July. Getz can wait, take on some risk, and hope for a better return at the deadline. The price would likely go up with a strong 1H performance from Cease as a wider array of big and small market teams would be in the mix. The question is do you guys really want to go into the season with the status quo and then hope prices for top end SP are somehow cheaper come July?
  6. I don’t buy Westburg’s upside is the same as Kjerstad’s.
  7. And Norby…don’t forget good ole Conner Norby.
  8. Who is on the table again? Just want to make sure I’m keeping up. Holiday => Untouchable Basallo => Untouchable Mayo => Untouchable Kjerstad => Might be needed next year Cowser => Might be needed next year Ortiz Bradfield => Needed to replace Mullins Beavers McDermott => Can’t give up pitching depth Horvath Norby Tavera Povich => Can’t give up pitching depth Deleon Lirenzo
  9. I don’t think we can get two OF prospects from the O’s. I think one of Kjerstad or Cowser is reasonable to give up, but my guess is they’d want to keep both Bradfield & Beavers to ensure enough depth & flexibility down the road. But I agree with you on the first point. Ramos is highly slept on, but is a much better prospect than most realize. I believe Fangraphs has him in the 60’s on their big board and I just saw another site that had him in that range as well. The bat speed & power are legit, very solid plate discipline for his age, and he should at least be average defensively at 3B. I’d probably project him to be more of a #6 type hitter (if all goes well) on a championship caliber team.
  10. While I don’t believe Santos is untradable like Balta, I certainly think you’d be getting 50 cents on the dollar by moving him now. Seems like a guy whose value could increase significantly with a healthy & productive first half.
  11. Definitely could be possible, but they have a ton of possible OF options. Their pitching situation is highly problematic IMO and I think they’d be nuts to not add another quality SP to the mix before the season. Doesn’t have to be Cease, but hoarding OF prospects because they have one guy hitting free agency after this season is wild to me.
  12. I don’t think that’s a guarantee…at least not right away. Orioles have a ton of potential OF options, most who are better defenders, so proactively looking at Kjerstad at 1B makes all the sense in the world for them. I don’t think he’s unplayable in RF by any stretch of the imagination and if he slows down, you eventually move him to LF. That LH bat paired with Montgomery gives you the beginnings of what could be a very good middle of the order.
  13. The bulk of the Hangout would do one of plus Ortiz or lower. If I had to guess, Getz is asking for one of them plus Westburg or has Mayo in the ask somehow.
  14. I really like Beavers and would love him as a part of a Cease package, I just view Kjerstad as a far superior prospect to Westburg. And to me, it’s critical that we get one prospect with true impact talent. To me, that’s Kjerstad over Westburg and even Cowser for that matter. If we want to avoid Ortiz (and I totally get the concerns theft), I’d rather go for someone like Horvath and then beef up the back end of the package a bit.
  15. They never really made any sense
  16. I really want to know what these clubs have been offering. The Orioles can’t be taken serious if their top five prospects are off limits. The Yankees also can’t be taken serious if Spencer Jones & Chase Hampton are off limits. We at least have confirmation now that the Dodgers offered up Busch in their package. And while Busch is a fairly divisive prospect, the reality is he still had legitimate based on the Cubs return. It does feel like the Sox & Orioles are in a game of chicken. I hate going full circle here, but it does seem like the compromise is a Kjerstad/Ortiz/Povich package. Orioles give up one of their true high-end outfield prospects, while the Sox settle on the lower ceiling, but major league ready Ortiz. Povich is the final piece, with the Sox that getting an arm that isn’t too far off but still has a lot of question marks. My guess is this is a package that 50% of Sox fans hate and 50% of Orioles fans hate, which tells me it’s a fair compromise.
  17. Also this nugget about the Dodgers and Cease
  18. Probably not a guy you want out there everyday.
  19. Don’t forget Norby! Hell, we might be able to get both if we were to package Robert & Cease together!
  20. Article in the Sun Times today with Katz sort of suggests it
  21. 100% what they should do. Unfortunately it sounds like they’re taking the Kopech approach.
  22. Definitely sounds like he will be building up as a starter in the majors
  23. Is this normal to have such few leaks at this point in time?
