  1. This is your #3 SP for next year most likely. Let that cook for a minute and see if you still feel people are overreacting.
  2. You are a fucking clown…go Stan for Jerry Reinsdorf some more you dolt
  3. The “it’s not our money” is a poor excuse to defend a trade. This dude is one of your five SPs next year. Ignore all the other younger, more productive arms that will be available this offseason that we could have used this money on…we just settled on Castillo being that guy because we wanted the smallest of upgrades for the post season.
  4. Yup. And Castillo is obviously the better pitcher and has some theoretical ceiling there, but the stats are shockingly close on paper and Fedde is costing us only $1.5M while Castillo is essentially on a 2/$28M deal for us (if you view Dominguez as zero value) that required us to also give up a prospect.
  5. Same here. I am one of the biggest Boston Smith Stan’s on this board and my biggest issue with the trade is with Castillo himself. His numbers are almost as bad as Fedds’s! And it’s not like he’s still in prime…his stuff has been gradually declining the past few years. This just seems like a low upside but costly gamble.
  6. Schweitzer is a rookie and one rocking a 4.3 K per 9 rate.
  7. Chris Murphy has been very good for over a month now…why are we replacing him?
  8. Not sure about Schultz. I assume Castillo replaces him, but I also assume Getz is adding another SP somehow. A 3-4-5 of Kay-Castillo-Fedde is legit gross.
  9. 100% agree. How the f*** did Seattle have the leverage to demand a prospect in this deal? Like I said earlier, I could see Castillo for Dominguez straight up maybe, but adding any prospect of value is non sensical from any objective valuation standpoint. The Mariners were literally leaking out Hancock & Kirby as being available to help improve their team and then found a sucker for Castillo and got an actual return no less.
  10. Schweitzer is striking out less than 4.5 batters per nine. The results have been good, but they aren’t going to last without a material increase in his K rate.
  11. Great we had money spend…just mind boggling this is what we decided to blow our load on.
  12. Castillo is 33 years old and all metrics are going backwards but velocity. Even if he’s somehow “fixed”, this is one of our big SP additions for next year. Getting rid of Dominguez’s $10M contract doesn’t make that worth it. Boston is simply the cherry on top of a perplexing trade. I hope I’m wrong, but this reeks of a GM first time buying and being raked over the coals.
  13. Choose your fighter! Player A: 33 yrs old | 7.77 K/9 | 2.89 BB/9 | 1.44 HR/9 | 5.06 ERA | 4.82 xERA Player B: 33 yrs old | 6.51 K/9 | 3.17 BB/9 | 1.76 HR/9 | 4.13 ERA | 4.61 xERA
  14. I thought they might before they just dealt Dominguez, but honestly not sure who would replace either of those two now.
  15. It’s not just about the payroll itself…it’s about the $25M being allocated to a SP who seems to be done that could have been spent on someone better.
  16. McDougal & Hagen will replace Dominguez & Schweitzer is my guess.
  17. Exactly. Super deep SP free agent class next year and we just cock blocked ourselves with the corpse of Luis Castillo. I’m very much an optimist but even I can’t find the rationale for this move. Even if you believe Luis can be “fixed” this is a massive overpay in terms of both financial & prospect cost.
  18. Didn’t give up anything? Boston Smith isn’t a stud, but he’s still a top 15ish org prospect. He has legitimate value and we just took on a bad context in return for him.
  19. I’m not too worried about the 2028 vesting option…just no idea why we wanted to pay Castillo $25M or whatever next year and give up Boston Smith for that luxury. And yes, I get Dominguez was a bad contract that we’re dumping. It’s all very perplexing to me.
  20. If you took out Boston Smith, maybe the trade would make some sense. I can’t fathom how taking on a worse contract than the one we gave up required us to give up a legitimate prospect. I don’t even have words honestly.
  21. Initial reaction is I legit hate this trade. Gross as f***.
  22. Detmers is 13th in fWAR Skubal => Dodgers Detmers => White Sox no one => Cubs
  23. I’ll drive them to the airport!
