He appears to be in great shape…I’d bring him back on a one year deal. Even if we move away from a platoon DH situation at some point next year because of Bonemer’s arrival, he can still be an extremely valuable role player who can give one of your corner OF’s a rest against LHP.

Sox will be able to add one pitcher on Sep 1st. At this point, you got to think it will be someone who can provide some bulk innings. Thorpe & Sandlin remain the two most obvious candidates to me. Assuming Martin comes back at some point as well, that would theoretically eat up that spot too unless you decide to send Schweitzer back down. We also have to see if Urquidy can sustain even a fraction of what he showed against the Cubs. Personally, I’d like to see Thorpe get a chance in our rotation and bump one of Urquidy or Fedde back to the bullpen. Interesting that tonight’s starter is listed as a TBD given Thorpe should be ready to go if called upon tonight. Probably just the Sox debating whether to use an opener for Urquidy or not.

Difference is almost certainly due to park factors.

We’ve gotten 0.9 fWAR out of the DH spot and that’s 9th overall in baseball.

Fighting in the upper deck at the Rate is legit terrifying given how steep it is up there. Can’t believe that one dude jumped multiple rows and drop kicked another guy in the face.

I think it’s more likely than not the Sox resign Mune. If he weren’t a 1B then I’d agree with you, but I think given our current payroll flexibility and the fact that Ishbia is eventually buying the team helps our cause.

There is zero reason to think this dude is suddenly Tatis. Let’s wait until he does something in Kanny before we worry about him. Not suggesting he can’t be a dude or that this was a good trade (remains mind boggling to me as a mid season addition), but most of the kids that hit in the DSL end up being big nothings.

Some details on Drew Thorpe’s start from last night: 91.4 MPH AVG velocity over the course of five innings 91.9 MPH AVG velocity in the 2nd & 3rd innings 94 MPH max velocity hit on 33rd pitch (swinging strike for K) 17 of 43 (40%) 4-seamers thrown 92 MPH or above It’s very clear he’s got a bit more juice now than he did before. Wasn’t throwing max effort all the time, so I think we’ll see this continue go up as he continues to build up strength and decides to dial it up more frequently.

Kay vs. Holmes. Feels like a very winnable game to me. Holmes isn’t very good and the Braves are mediocre against LHP. Braves also just got swept by the Twins and could be pressing a bit. I like our chances tomorrow if we get the good version of Kay. Let’s fucking go!!

Piggy backing dudes wouldn’t be a bad idea. It’s going to be a battle to get guys tot be finish line and Thorpe is as fresh of an arm as we have. He could be a godsend down the stretch.
