  1. It would be disastrous given we only have four more years of control of our two best players at the moment.
  2. So basically you don’t want to add an impact starter? Because the rest of the top guys will be getting QOs with the exception of Ryu and he’s not exactly a great fit for what we’re looking for.
  3. I don’t follow at all. And not sure why he wouldn’t be ready by opening day if he’s not having surgery (baring any setbacks).
  4. While I agree we should target a two year deal, why would he not do much at all in 2020? He’s supposed to be ready by opening day.
  5. I mean he has no track record of being a legit insider and keeps throwing out rumors. Obviously this one is tougher to prove right or wrong, but it doesn’t change his history. I question that he’s really in the know.
  6. No surgery necessary, so it seems like he should be ready barring any setbacks in his rehab.
  7. What’s weird is Kinander keeps on spewing rumors and has yet to get one right. There’s probably some truth to the Joc rumor, but that’s pretty much it.
  8. Honesty, he’s exactly the type of reliever we should take a shot on. Huge upside and likely won’t require a huge commitment given his injury history.
  9. Outside of Cruz & JDM, what DHs put up a better wRC+ than Grandal last year? You are seriously sleeping on his bat.
  10. It’s called platooning. McCann is well above league average vs LHP over his career and Collins was league average against RHP in first MLB stint despite a horrendous start bringing down his numbers. My guess is those two can give you quality offensive production if used correctly. And Grandal giving you ~120 wRC+ production is more than fine at the DH spot. To me, the idea makes perfect sense and provides far more flexibility than bringing on JDM.
  11. Like who though? I have no idea if Gardner’s arm would be suitable for RF, but there aren’t exactly a ton of options out there. Regardless, I think this discussion is all for naught as I think it’s incredibly unlikely Gardner leaves the Yankees.
  12. Outside of a horrific July, his second half numbers weren’t that different than his first numbers with the exception of some much expected BABIP regression. Yes, he had a career year and overall he probably overperformwd, but Statcast still believes he should have been a league average hitter and he actually made adjustments to that support his improvement. While there is probably no rush to extend him, cutting bait right now is quite frankly insane at $5M.
  13. You’re assuming the Twins won’t regress despite numerous career years and a bunch of guys hitting free agency. They should be good next year, but I would not bank on them repeating their 2019 performance.
  14. Yup, worst case scenario you trade McCann for something as he should a little bit of surplus value at that cost. Also, that pitching plan would likely be disastrous. I still don’t get all the Wheeler hate around here, but we need at least one starter with more certainty than the guys he listed.
  15. I still think something like Fry for Joc might be enticing to the Dodgers.
  16. Are there any metrics that show arm strength? If he could still throw, I’d be far more interested in him on a deal like you’re proposing.
  17. Trade for a RF and then fill your other holes via free agency. For me, Nimmo or Joc would be fantastic additions depending on the price.
  18. I will say that Ozuna’s bat is significantly underrated around here. His wxOBA last year was .379, for reference the best players are right around .400 and league average is .318. Two good comps would be Harper at .388 and Acura at .387, which shows how good of a hitter he really is. Also, Statcast believes he was really unlucky last year and that he was actually a better hitter than he was in 2017 when he put up a 143 wRC+ season. The problem with Ozuna is defense. If his arm hasn’t returned to form, his ability to play RF is compromised. And even then, it sounds like he’s a fundamentally poor OF despite what certain metrics might suggest. I wouldn’t necessarily hate his addition if the price was right (and he was willing to DH some), but I would definitely Grandal & JDM over him.
  19. Just seems like the NFL is too fast for Mitch. His reads, decision-making, and throws all seem rushed. He just looks way over his head and it’s hard to see how he shakes out of this.
  20. Fully agree on Wheeler, but don’t think we should be adding pitchers we don’t necessarily like simply to hurt the Twins. Let other teams do that for us.
  21. Then you’re punting 2020 and putting the rest of the rebuild at risk if even one of those guys fails to develop. And the two World Series teams account for six of the top 15 fWAR starters. Two other teams had two and four teams had one (including us). Wheeler is probably the best starter on a dozen teams and the second best starter on another dozen teams. Hopefully he’s not our ace, but we it would be great to add a guy with TOR potential to the three guys you listed so we have some options if someone were to get hurt or bust.
  22. Wheeler was 15th overall in fWAR amongst starters. In what world is that even close to a very good #4 starter?
