The only draft pick id put in the top 10 is Tim Anderson. With the rest, its way too early to tell. 1. Hawkins 2. Erik Johnson 3. Trayce Thompson 4. Tim Anderson 5. Carlos Sanchez 6. Phegley 7. Marcus Semien 8. Scott Snodgress (has struggled, still a lot to like) 9. Daniel Webb (A reliever but hey, this system is still really bad) 10. Micah Johnson

You're Hahn, who are you looking to trade first?
daggins replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sale is signed to a potentially SUPER TEAM FRIENDLY contract til like 2019. No way he goes for anything less than an unprecedented haul. Crain has the highest value right now but Rios could potentially get the most if the market for impact bats dries up. -
Add a homer to that, his 10th. What the hell has gotten in to Josh Phegley?
-
Remember when Rios and Dunn were worse than pretty much everyone in the majors and Ozzie caught hell for running them out there every day anyways? Now we get to see how Ventura responds to a similar situation. Lets Watch!

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 8, 2013 -> 07:26 PM) http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20130508 Saladino's continuing to get back into the conversation. Semien impressing still. Typical Santos Rodrigez line. Taylor Thompson just keeps on trucking along...opening some eyes since the AFL selection. The problem is that, by all accounts i've read, Phegley is barely a catcher. Might be inclined to give him a crack at some platoon DH though, since Dunn is somehow worse off than Flowers right now.

Update - Yolmer is struggling with his aggressive assignment. The good news is that he is maintaining his excellent batters eye and keeping K's low. The bad news is that he isn't hitting the ball hard enough for it to matter. The dropoff in power is expected but he will need to start making better contact or face demotion. I haven't read any takes on his defense so far but it never seemed to be in question so i'm sure its acceptable.

Who do you blame for the current state of the team?
daggins replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
While there is certainly enough blame to go around, I'm gonna lay this at JR's door. -
Flowers has been slightly above average for a catcher battingwise and not a disaster behind the dish. I really don't get why people on this board rag on him - blind AJ fanboyism? Anyways I was curious and visited Fangraphs and apparently Dunn and Keppinger have already been worth a whopping -1.5 wins between them!
-
You do know Flowers has been one of the better hitters on the team right? The offense is definitely a mess and the pen is more wobbly that expected but even though they are 5 games under .500 they have been outscored by 7 runs. That is not a lot, because they are losing close games, which is the razor's edge that teams with crappy offenses have to navigate. They could reel off a 7 game winning streak and be in second place and then you'd probably think they hung the moon.

In this specific instance, I think Wise is set as the 4th OF. Injuries happen, of course, but Wise is a known known. Based on what the brass have been saying the only real decision left is backup catcher.
-
I thought the rationale of signing Wise to a MLB deal was specifically to not need Mitchell on the MLB team.

Two things- 1. Parquet Courts is great. 2. The new MBV is out and oddly enough is great.

Tough for Chicago to prove last season's surprising run wasn't
daggins replied to BaseballNick's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Its pretty early to be saying the Royals don't have big holes at 1B, 3B and RF, not to mention the fact that their rotation is godawful past Shields. ZIPs has Royals at 38 WAR and Sox at 39. So basically, on paper its close. -
I want to say that he is but these voters are real dumb, so i'll say 2nd year. Maddux will get in but it will be 75%-80% of the vote. As Joe P pointed out, six people did not vote for Hank Aaron.
-
Also consider what you have to give up to get that "depth". Kubel has been a 1-2 win player historically, so assume that continues going forward. Do you trade a 24 year old with big time talent before his second season, or a pitcher who will likely be worth 2-3 wins in the coming season? Or something else? If so, what's the future cost there? I don't think the cost justifies the return in this case.
-
From an organizational need perspective, I'd say Flowers or Nestor Molina In terms of just pure overall talent I guess i'd take Trayce Thompson. Maxed out TT would be a fun player to have for the next 6 years or so.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 13, 2012 -> 09:56 PM) Are LAA team to beat in AL, favorite, on paper anyway? I'll say the Rangers are still a little better. The Tigers and Yankees are probably better too. The Angels rotation is nothing special and they had to throw a fair amount of money at their pen to make it adequate.

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/12/diam...stin-upton.html I mean he still could but he's either not going to or he's driving the price up artificially.
-
So the Dbacks probably aren't gonna trade Upton. So thats three times in a row the Rangers have struck out on a target. Olt for Floyd!!! #RANGERTEARZ
-
I guess they're higher on Gregorious than most but man, thats a handful of junk for a pretty promising pitcher. Reds gonna win 100 games.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 10, 2012 -> 11:58 PM) Not left handed. Thank goodness. I missed the part that bucket quoted. Yeah thank goodness indeed. He probably ends up as Houston's DH.

Lol its Delmon Young right?

Lipstick on a pig, if the lipstick is made of gold flake and diamond dust. Sullivan wrote a good piece on Lookout Landing about how unforgivably dumb and desperate this is. The only potential upshot to this for Royals fans is that it is very likely Moore will be gone after this season. Of course then they have to worry that Glass will hire another backwards-thinking GM and "The Process" will start all over again.

Yeah Hamilton or Bourn will be a Ranger.
