  1. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 03:36 PM) Serious question: is Coats a better player than Avi right now? Legit question. There's a video from last year of Coats turning on a ball for a homer. Some of the quickest hands you'll ever see.
  2. All Cespedes would have cost is money. It was too perfect.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 12:00 PM) Scientific progress goes "boink"? Haha nice man. #GrosS
  4. QUOTE (captain54 @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 04:01 PM) Don't need you to tell me how to spend my time, pal. Been a Sox fan going on the 6th decade..and it's gonna stay that way.. and I'll maintain my skepticism about the organization, whether you disapprove or not.. Your opinion and point of view isn't Gospel Truth.. There's no way for you to know one way or another if the common attitude in the Sox organization is or isn't scorn and derision… I never assumed that what Cooper thinks reflects the organization.. I'm suggesting its within the realm of possibility.. Has the organization ever issued a disclaimer when Cooper went off on one of his radio rants? Not that i recall.. Have they ever ordered a cease and desist on his disparaging the paying customer? apparently not, because ole Cooper continues to get his shots in. We get it man but i think you're overlooking the "who cares" aspect of this fake news. It's a damn shame we're grown men and women talking about such a useless topic. Such an outright useless topic. Damn shame. It's like getting mad at your mom for getting pissed or having a mood swing. "Mom you have to answer for this. How dare you. No mother of mine isn't perfect. If the PC & PR police dorks were here I'd have them arrest you. Turn in your keys on the way out of your own house."
  5. QUOTE (captain54 @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 01:42 PM) It's not a question of getting worked up. The bigger issue is: is this an indication of how the organization as a whole views their fans, with Cooper being the only one with the juice to actually express it? When Cooper has ripped the fans in the fast, has the organization ever come out to offer a disclaimer? That's admitting something wrong was done. The only thing wrong is that we are wasting server space talking about one of the least interesting things this board has ever seen. EVER! Can we get back on topic plz, Black n I were talking wife traps...
  6. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 09:14 PM) See, now you're speaking my language! Just dropped a nice little bomb on the wife about an hour ago while she layed next to me in bed. I told her I was blowing her a kiss. Sigh, then the smell hit her.... Haha my man! Nicely done indeed. I left a huge surprise in the bedroom for her to walk into the other day. Surprised myself even. Took like 5 straight snapchats of her grossed out and posted them for my buddies.
  7. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 08:33 PM) Which means there's likely no truth to this at all. Even if there is truth, still not sure it's worth devoting thought to. now farts, on the other hand, those things are interesting!
  8. I love me some Coop! Can't help but back him here. I just hope the media pricks don't try to make too much of a story out of this & try to ruin his career- he's a damn good pitching coach. Keeping my fingers crossed that they don't try to make news out of something that really isn't news. Media is the biggest hypocrite this world has ever seen & I have proof.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 09:32 PM) Not trying to stir anything up, but you do a simple Google search on Clinton or Sanders and you see story after story that Bernie has a chance. Is this true? I like his policy plans and obviously I prefer him over Ms. Clinton, whom I despise. Seriously ... look it up. Pollsters say Bernie has a chance when the TV pundits scoff at even a suggestion that anybody but Ms. Clinton is a LOCK for the nomination and the presidency. So does Bernie have a chance??? Or not. I'm still hopeful that pretty much nobody actually votes for her when the time comes. Kind of like in Goldfinger when everybody at Ft. Knox wakes up. Her being president would be the most insanely idiotic thing our country has ever done (well that's Hawk Hyperbole). But yea it would be pretty messed up IMO as a functioning adult.
  10. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 03:07 PM) West Africa was declared ebola-free a few days ago, but an additional case has popped up in Sierra Leone eta: there were a grand total of 4 Ebola cases in the US with 2 deaths related to this outbreak Whoa whoa let's see what happens with this new case before busting out the champagne
  11. Sometimes this stuff gets cringe-worthy...like when a dude proposes at a stadium.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 08:55 AM) How long before the first "sources say Sox still only willing to go three years" report this morning Maybe we throw all the cash at him. 150M
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 16, 2016 -> 08:31 AM) How can a guy one year older who put up a war last year that beats five out of Davis' last six seasons COMBINED and plays a more important role defensively in terms of outfield assists get close to Mike Leake's deal? Doesn't make sense. Because WAR SHMORE. I doubt front offices pay much attention to the stat. I get what you're saying but Davis & Cespedes are hard players to compare and using WAR would make it even more difficult. Cespedes will probly get a bunch of money too.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 13, 2016 -> 10:21 AM) I am with you. Yes I'd like to put my name on the roster as well. Hope we locked him up for 10 more years
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 07:18 PM) If you're Cespedes, and you're getting the same offer from the White Sox and Nationals...where would you go? You can play in the nation's capital with one of the two true superstars in the game on what everyone considers a playoff contender versus a White Sox team that's somewhere between 3rd (optimistic) and last (pessimistic) right now out of a 5 team division. You're also even more confident in the NL East than the AL, where you now have a proven track record and just put up near MVP numbers. You've also got two "dead in water" franchises in the Braves and Phillies to pick apart offensively. The White Sox would probably have to overpay by at least 5% to get it done, if not 10%. Same thing with returning to the Tigers...unless the draw of being paired with Abreu is truly that enticing. Cmon man this is pure toilet dick.
  16. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 09:08 PM) Just throwing out there for people on the skepticism of Cespedes 2015. Konerko hit 32 homeruns in 2001 which was a career high for him. He then went on to hit 41 in 04 and 40 in 05. Don't know why people can't take a career year in homeruns and said that that can't be a measuring stick for further years in continuing or bettering homerun out put Love it. Just great to see the name Konerko written here.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 04:10 PM) If Justin Upton, a 3.6 fWAR player last year and 4.0 fWAR the year before that, makes them a competitor, then Dexter Fowler, a 3.2 fWAR player last year and 1.4 fWAR the year before that leaves them still pretty darn competitive. That's not the difference between 88 and 82 wins. If Dexter Fowler doesn't make them competitive, then the big 2 probably doesn't make them competitive either. They'd have a tiny bit of extra work to do in the latter case. I see your point and I like it Balta but I think it completey overlooks lineup impact. WAR fails to acknowledge the fact that the one player makes our lineup scary while the other doesn't. Who the hell wants to pitch to Abreu Cespedes & Frazier? Those guys can change the score with one swing. One bad pitch changes the game.
  18. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 07:13 AM) Not sure it would do as much as you think, since for the most part it seems like different teams are in on Gordon and Cespedes/Upton with the exception of us. Signing Gordon AND Cespedes would make us one of the best teams in the league.
  19. QUOTE (Lillian @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 08:29 AM) I agree with you. His apparent inability to play a respectable RF is a major concern. I had read mixed reviews of his arm, but it looks like his arm would not profile as a right fielder, which the Sox need. It's the same reason that I'm not enthused about Gordon. Oh well, back to Cespedes. Cespedes just makes so much sense. No draft pick. Plus plus plus arm. HR threat anytime in the box. Game changing player on offense and defense.
  20. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 06:11 AM) No thanks. If for no other reason, I wouldn't want to give the compensation pick to the Cubs. This and he's not that good anyway
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2016 -> 06:46 PM) Fister? I barely knew her. Fister?? Barely knew her! Haha by far my fav mang
  22. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 26, 2015 -> 07:17 PM) Pittsburgh is in a very envious position right now. They have a team in place for '16 to be considered legit contenders. If things go well in their minors this season, the Pirates will be trading veteran salaries to make room for Glasnow/Taillon in the rotation, Bell for 1B, Hanson for 2B and Meadows for CF. Imo, McCutchen will be traded for a haul to help replenish the farm and reduce payroll to give the Pirates more financial flexibility. I really do envy the position the Pirates are in right now. After all these years, they finally have a front office and scouts that know what they are doing. The Pirates will be perennial contenders for the foreseeable future. Good for them. Nicely said. And what's great is this is the White Sox too, just many on here don't see it yet. Lot of people think we're just kicking the can down the road signing veterans etc, not building from within etc. Bull freaking s***. Our rotation will basically cost under $40M for the next five years. The entire rotation. That's doing something extremely right. Adam Eaton & Abreu are studs. It's working, the farm is looking super solid. And we didn't lose on purpose for 5 years. Everybody needs to quit being mad at the Sox FO & ownership now. Just stop. We're in a super enviable position moving forward- way better than the cubs.
  23. QUOTE (bulokis @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 03:18 PM) The idea of getting a good bat and having 3 high picks this draft sounds good to me. It is like we are competing and rebuilding at the same time. Ding ding ding! It's absolutely genius what the FO is doing. It's ridiculous that people advocate a tear down.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 11:22 AM) If a random guy on the twitter is willing to stake his reputation on it, this must be a done deal. Haha I love the staking the reputation nonsense with these guys. The audacity to even give themselves such self-importance is so funny. "Oh I was wrong, he signed with Boston but it did go down to the wire." Nobody cared anyway man, even if you were right. The team'll report the news soon enough.
