  1. Danish, Hawkins, Anderson & Jared Mitchell. 3 1/2 first-rounders; does that get Stanton? I feel like Anderson and Danish in a package should get us to any discussion table.
  2. Plus we're gonna add some type of positional badass this winter and maybe a pitcher too. Don't you think Hahn is going to add at least 1 more young, MLB-ready core piece this offseason? +1 more for the sox soon. We have the best pitcher and hitter in the game, arguably. Cubs have what?
  3. One could say we really don't produce guys that can hit in general. Forget the defense.
  4. QUOTE (hi8is @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 03:45 PM) I sure hope that more than 30M is available. Me too. 60M sounds nice.
  5. The Sox need a badass RHSP. Scherzer, Shields or trade. That would absorb much of the other deficiencies. We need to plug that hole IMO. Use the cash for that. Can't have all pre-arb players. And that bullpen, mercy. Address that s*** for sure but I think adding another 200IP horse would help the bullpen immensely.
  6. Semien has AAA figured out. 2B should be his job to lose next spring.
  7. Nothin to see here folks...move about your business
  8. Id love Zaleski to get a Lucas Harrell one of these days.
  9. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 25, 2014 -> 08:53 PM) The lottery example really doesn't work because you don't get more chances. Your number of chances don't go up. You still only have one ticket or one chance. As I said unless you have one of the top two or three the chances of that player being really good is a crapshoot. As people were saying Beckham has out performed most of the players picked around him or at his spot. That isn't saying much for a top ten pick. Losing games to go from the 12th pick to the 7 pick really doesn't seem like an improved chance for a really good player. The only real benefit and it's an important one is having a picked protected if you sign a big FA. Everyone understands the opinion that it's a crapshoot; I mean, I dare you to find any baseball fan on earth who would tell you otherwise. I guess I don't understand what your point is. If you want to catch a big fish, you would rather be in a spot where more big fish are. That's why I understand why people root for the losses because it's based on decent logic, now whether one agrees with it or not, really doesn't matter because it's one of a FEW DIFFERENT valid points of view. Free will.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 25, 2014 -> 11:44 AM) but Gary Sheffield Haha, yes of course. Lil sheff
  11. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Aug 25, 2014 -> 06:59 PM) If he comes up in September and start with the team next year, he would be arb eligible in 2018 and free agent in 2021 because his service time in 2014 would not be enough to push him to Super 2 for 2017. Remember, Super 2 does not change your free agent date, it just gives you 4 years of arbitration instead of 3. Yea. And another good way to put it into perspective is after 2 full baseball years starting in April, he will still only have like 2 years and maybe 30 days. There's just no way that will qualify as the top tier of guys between 2 and 3 years. Edit: I still think you need to reach 6 years anyway, regardless of your "twoness". Is that right?
  12. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 25, 2014 -> 06:51 PM) Is that because he'd 100% be a super 2 if he came up next April? Service time bro. If you think Rodon should break camp with the Sox next spring (and that's clearly a good debate in its own right) then you should be in favor of him tasting the show this year. I can't see it doing anything but be a help to that young man...if he's ready, which it sure is starting to look like.
  13. We could thank him for rodon. It was his general horribleness that anchored us to the cellar.
  14. I can't believe how MLB-ready Rodon is. Tyler Kolek throws 100? That's nice.
  15. Looks like he's mopping up. 8Ks now. Can anybody find any tweets from scouts there...#unhittable and whatnot.
  16. QUOTE (daggins @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 11:05 AM) Maybe they just sign Colby Rasmus? Maybe they just don't give a s***.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 23, 2014 -> 09:30 PM) The Tigers used 11 different pitchers to cover an 11 inning stretch. I think the Sox should give them Belisario and pay the salary...kinda like giving the natives blankets with small pox.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2014 -> 08:03 PM) Brick is hard to burn and a smart place should have insurance to cover that. The buildings should survive. Great place to be a contractor right now.
  19. Holy bait fest man! The sharks are smart around here tho...
  20. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 09:40 AM) I've said his since we moved him away from 3B but Beckham belongs there, great D and put up great numbers, there was no need to move him, in the case he bats around .260-.270 next year on a different team at 3B with 12-15 HRs and 25-30 2Bs with roughly 60-70 RBIs, how pissed will you be and at whom? I'll be pissed at KW and RV at an extreme level, maybe even Ozzie I'll be pissed at Gordon Beckham for needing 3000 AB to figure it out.
  21. I didn't know Anderson hit the s*** out of the ball to all fields. This is all great news to me!
  22. This team can be damn competitive next year AND have room for Beck to force his way up. We can win the World Series. Rick Hahn, we both know it can be done.
  23. Plenty of time with Nieto. I like that he got a nice taste of what he's up against but AAA for a couple seasons sounds great. Phegs has to be feeling the squeeze coming up.
  24. QUOTE (TRU @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 08:49 PM) And yet, no one can back up any reason as to why Davidson wasn't ready. Based on what he did in Arizona last season, and then his .308/.341/.564/.906 slash line from spring training, I am suppose to buy into him not being ready? Sorry, that's not good enough. Now I will wait patiently for the next textbook soxtalk poster to tell me that on a board that has greg constantly posting, I am posting some of the most illogical stuff you've seen. Davidson had a good spring but remember in the first week of the season, Hawk and Stone both brought up and agreed that during spring training nobody was hitting the ball harder and barreling up more balls than Conor Gillaspie. It was not a stats thing. It was eye test thing from the high FO down to the players. Instead of discarding Gillaspie for nothing and going with Davidson out of the gate, they took the free, display hot-hitting Connor Gillaspie to other teams approach while Davidson hones it a bit more. Remember, the plan was for Davidson to tear it up in AAA this year and force a trade of the now valuable Gillaspie. It was all looking like genius bonus, for Soptic haha, RH strikes again! 3B depth was about to be a pleasant surprise surplus but Matt Davidson went and f***ed all that up this year. Now we can't even trade him and his down ass value.
