  1. Saw Morneau hit a pair of doubles in that game. Sounds like he's back but is that really the case?
  2. I'm going to get the mlb.tv package for sure this week. I did some research and it turns out the prices for it can fluctuate. Apparently some dudes got this year's subscription for 20 bucks, but I'll probably end up paying the 120. I had it a few years ago and it's awesome if you get the premium. morl
  3. lol, how silly of me to overlook that. Lead me to the mountain so I can scream "Rehabilitated" with all of you.
  4. Millions is a punk. Pretending to have a work ethic this spring is nice and all, but I look forward to adding the Soxtalk community to the long list of disappointed, past-believers in this kid.
  5. Can I join the Friday night loser party? Count me in on the rooting for Lillibridge. I want him to be our pinch runner all season.
  6. Isn't a Humber when a chick takes your...
  7. Forget the money. Teahen is the best LH bat in our camp for the bench.
  8. Skin gloves is really funny. I imagine a set of vintage Leyland's would be too rough for most sewing needles to even take on.
  9. Teahen is really awkward in the field. He dropped that pop-up like the nervous kid in gym class.
  10. Humber and Milledge are both garbage to this point; it's what they've proven to be. At least the positions they are fighting for don't matter too much overall. No big deal if these chewed-up scraps make the team. Or Lillibridge for that matter- it's all the same big can a garbage with different levels of optimism poured on top.
  11. I still think there is an underlying shoulder/arm issue with Peavy. I've thought all along that his shoulder was bothering him last year so he started throwing differently which caused the lat to rip off. His velocity was down last year before he ripped off the lat. I hope my theory is wrong and it's just general soreness, but the lat should be fine if not stronger than ever by now.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 15, 2011 -> 01:35 PM) Against Thorton, Martinez is 5/19 with a .785 OPS, Cabrera is 1/7 (.476) and Ordonez is 0/4. Alright, if some of the best righties can't touch him then i have no worries.
  13. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 15, 2011 -> 01:13 PM) Agreed on all accounts. Yea he's earned it but I just worry about him closing out games against teams like Detroit, where he'd be facing VMart, Cabrera and Ordonez, guys who love fastballs.
  14. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Mar 12, 2011 -> 10:52 PM) But... but... but Hawk said Teahen was good defensively! Seriously I've always loved Hawk, but the one thing I can never stand is how he PRAISES seemingly ever player just because they "do something" against us or because they simply on our team. I remember rolling my eyes when Hawk used to rant about how great a player Andy Gonzalez was going to be. I thought Agon was gonna be a stud after that like 12-pitch AB against Zumaya in the bottom of the 9th. One of the coolest things I've ever seen.
  15. I understand that Millhouse is supposed to be better than Bridge, but this is all in-theory talk. I'd love for Millions to realize all that potential but I'm not sold on him hitting any grooves off our bench. I hated Bridge more than anything until he came in for Beckham. I'm still amazed by some of those balls he hit that first week. Been a fan ever since and I like him on our bench.
  16. I love Brent's skill set off the bench. How is having a guy who can play 6 positions, with pop and +speed so terrible? I wouldn't mind having him on the bench for 5 years. Unless The Mill is faster than The Bridge, why take him? If nothing else The Bridge is an excellent late-inning pinch runner for our slow guys.
  17. QUOTE (quickman @ Mar 10, 2011 -> 10:57 AM) yes right, I should have clarified, any outfield postion. My point was that he needs to learn to play the position, right or left and a year in the minors wokring on that is the best option, unless we trade CQ. The sox really need to make Ramirez a leadoff hitter, if mitchell cannot be ready which I assume he wont be. ( talking about next year) I just don't see us having a guy with enough OBP to satisfy most of us at leadoff for next year. If we use Ramirez everyone will be upset that he doesn't get on enough. Without a trade, we're looking at Rios Beckham Dunn or Ramirez Beckham Dunn or Ramirez Rios Beckham Dunn PK- if Viciedo and CQ are our two corners next year. Maybe Morel takes ROY with a .365 OBP and the problem solves itself.
  18. See any Tyler Flowers in action down there? If so, what's the scoop on him; same old garbage?
  19. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Mar 5, 2011 -> 01:29 PM) I don't know anything about pitching motions, but his motion looked odd to me. Interesting. Can you expand on that thought any? I'm SOOO happy that his velocity wasn't around 85 or something. Then we'd be getting the whole, "Well the velocity will come, we're just happy it's pain free right now" shpeel. If he's already sitting at 90+ then I'm sure another 3 mph isn't out of the question. Just be glad he doesn't need to add 10 mph.
  20. I have a gut feeling he's going to throw harder than he ever has and all the pitchers in the league are going to purposely rip their lat muscles so they can throw 108 next year.
  21. I'm about 30 for 30 at Midway and 10 for 10 at O'Hare. Both running max payne- 100% with my safety. I prefer Midway but i suppose for any further winter flying I'll choose O'Hare now. Why be the guy on the plane in the middle of Cicero?
  22. Sale is still gonna throw a ton of baseballs for us this year. I see no problem with taking some load off his young, still-developing body for a season. Like someone else said, it's not like he's some 25 yr old minors dog finally getting his shot; he's just some kid with a rocket arm- let him throw some baseballs. We have all the time in the world with this kid.
  23. Smoke the division, Central champs, AL champs, make Philly look like punks in WS- Halladay wins 2 games but we smoke the others. I predict a BETTER year for Konerko because I think he figured out hitting a little more last year; he's letting the game come to him now. Dunn- Sweet fancy Moses Sale, Soria, Marmol- best closers in the league. Floyd- Monster season Danks still doesn't take the next step EJax- great first half, bad second half but shows up in the playoffs big time leading the staff. Peavy- ? C'mon karma, reward this work ethic of his. We become one of the best teams in history if he beasts.
