  1. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 01:22 PM) On the bench? Hell we need some power in the lineup! (I like this move though) Hopefully this power right fielder arrives
  2. We don't have a backup for SS, so how exactly is this anything but a great move? Guy does it right if he's 43 and still playing. What are we supposed to trade for Andrus to backup Alexei? 100% great move IMO.
  3. Well let's bump him up to AAA to start the year. Tell me, do I understand this correctly? Will he find more polished curveballs coming his way there? As I understand it, the better raw stuff is in AA, but more pitchers in AAA have been up to the show. So would we get a better idea of his strikeout/discipline projections if he were exposed to more polished repertoires? I guess that's my question; are pitchers in AAA tougher pitchers?
  4. I think a swap of Konerko for GMJ and a prospect or 2 is a great deal for both teams. The Angels pay GMJ Konerko-like money to ride the bench. Since Konerko is a better player and only signed for a year, the Angels would definitely have to compensate us with prospects to flip to SD. This deal makes alot of sense to all teams involved, as long as we get Adrian.
  5. 20-33 to start the year a few years back, started solid last year too. I say we ride his hot start this year as well. Just gotta beef up DH then.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 08:56 PM) I still think having his brother, the fact that they changed agents, etc., pretty much is a 100% guarantee that D2: the mighty danks will get a shot in the White Sox OF before any trades with him are even considered. I think his brother makes him the 1 untouchable in our minor leagues right now. That's a bold statement knowing our GM, but I'm right on board that ship with ya. I'd say CJ Retherford would go to Tampa now that Iwamura is gone. He's now our best trading piece with Beckham at 2nd and Viciedo to take 3rd post Teahen.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 04:21 PM) What if the person making the statement is, in fact, a mod. And what if the statement he is responding to is, in fact, overreactionary? Ky, the whole fun of being a Sox fan is trying to figure out KW during the offseason. This is the time to make exaggerant predictions and get called stupid for it. Keep it light, and let the opinoins fly my man!
  8. Yes, let's extend him through his prime, no matter the cost.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 03:55 PM) The Rays just traded a better than average 2B with good OB and defensive skills for a mediocre middle reliever. The White Sox traded an unproven prospect who struck out 40 times in 116 plate appearances for a mediocre middle reliever. You tell me who got better value. good post
  10. For all the people saying something like, "Let's wait til the end of the offseason to decide if we have holes", can the Mods please suspend their accounts until ST starts? Please? It will help to filter out garbage posts in long threads like these.
  11. Forget about Teahen for a second; I'm actually glad Getz is gone. I absolutely hated the way he played defense. His arm is really, really bad. His range seemed terrible. And his arm...did i mention that. I hated everything about the way he turned the double play, too For every natural, fluid, and graceful movement that defined Alexei's 2nd half, Getz was the polar opposite. If Beckham isn't our starting 2B, which I don't think he's going to be, then our starting 2B currently isn't on the White Sox yet.
  12. Maybe JR is going to spend more money than many of us think. Adding 4 million for Teahen, while at the same time creating a hole in the infield, isn't pinching pennies. Here's hoping for 120 million payroll and a ws ring.
  13. We need to go for it this year, and this isn't a big enough move IMO. Now we have a hole in the infield that we didn't have yesterday, with nothing really gained, except for a lower ERA for Buehrle
  14. QUOTE (G&T @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 10:25 AM) Available for what? I 2nd this motion.
  15. Didn't Teahen have a good year when he played 3B everyday? Seems it's been downhill for him ever since they gave Gordon his position, bouncing him all around the field. Am I remembering this right? I like our Gordon at 3B, period. I just don't get it; why are we adding 4+ million for Teahen when he doesn't have an everyday position here. We need a press conference.
  16. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 09:43 AM) I just don't see Teahen having the bat to play a top level third base or RF. No kidding. This guy strikes out a WHOLE BUNCH too, with few walks. Where the f*** is he gonna play??
  17. Danks should have no impact on this offseason. Like someone said above, counting on Jordan for anything is a recipe for disaster. Just too many unknowns with this guy. I think the proper play is to trade for a stud RBI outfielder and sign Pods. Pods/CQ/Rios/new guy can rotate outfield and DH. Let Jordan get his cup of coffee this September, and in 2011 slide CQ to DH permanently. We'll be in the same predicament next offseason, but maybe Danks will have proven enough to earn the 3rd outfield spot next to Rios and the new guy.
  18. Did anybody else get the impression that Getz has a noodle arm at 2B? I'm still in the Pro-Getz/Hope CJ Is Amazing category, but I don't think he is very good defensively at all.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 05:02 PM) So let's say that he wound up getting a more reasonable contract...i.e. close to what Viciedo got or what Strasbourg got. What's our interest level then? I'd sign him for 10 million and hope 1 of the 2 pans out. I'll take the odds that 1 of them succeeds
  20. Now or never really. He was a monster at the start of the season, and finally again at the very end. I think he's back. 4 yr 20 mil would be so awesome. I'd do 4 for 20 in a heartbeat. Anybody else? How bout 3 for 25 or 4 for 30? What's your year and pay limit? This is the MVP we are talkin about here.
  21. Can we sign Quentin to a 3-4 yr deal right now to buy out his remaining arbitration years, just like Floyd? After a down year and based on his knack for injury, the Sox have negotiating strength and might be able to lock him up on the cheap. I believe he is fine now and will be a monster next year. So can we do it, would you do it, etc..
  22. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 11, 2009 -> 12:21 AM) Hunter Pence from the Stros. Nice one
  23. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Oct 10, 2009 -> 10:23 PM) Ethier and Kemp, really? What could we possibly have to move for them? Those guys are all-stars in their mid 20s, their version of Carlos Quentin except not injury prone and better defensively. I dunno man; how do you trade for Jake Peavy? Pretty much anybody but Pujols is available.
  24. Hermida is more intriguing than Hart, but neither seems disciplined enough at the plate. Does Hermida have some serious beakout potential, being only 25, because I know nothing about him. I want better.
  25. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 10, 2009 -> 01:24 PM) If you are placing more importance on exclusively next year why do you care if the players are young and cheap? Youger players typically play way better defense. Part of me would LOVE Milton Bradley to play here. He would eat up playing for this side of town. But I don't know if his defense is what I want rotating out there.
