QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 12, 2010 -> 03:27 PM) this is like saying "God of War is so much better than the original Zelda" Well duh. But that doesnt make it my favorite game since the first time I started playing video games i dunno. to me the better the games got graphically and more detailed they become, the less fun they were. i loved intellivision baseball too "YUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRR OUT"

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 12, 2010 -> 11:21 AM) You know what really bothers me about WAR? It's the 10 runs/win. Think about it, you have all these complicated numbers calculated out to 3 or 4 significant figures. OPS of 1.012, wOBA of 0.352, UZR numbers of 10.5, on each of those you're calculating and probably keeping more significant figures to calculate runs saved. Then, you just slap a single significant figure on it, 10 runs/win, and voila. Really, it's not 9.453 runs/win? It's exactly 10.0000, in every circumstance, in every season? thats pretty funny. and its wins above replacement

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 12, 2010 -> 03:19 PM) Tim Raines was fast as f*** in that game. And for some reason I always liked being Detroit, Chet Lemon was awesome yeah the expos were my team for whatever reason

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 12, 2010 -> 03:15 PM) I'm not even going to touch that one, I'll probably get banned the way today is going. Valentin was/is one of my 3 favorite Sox players of all time, along with Lance Johnson and Robin Ventura. we can all have different opinions no big deal. i just didnt like him. lance and robin i liked a lot. and i still like RBI baseball

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 12, 2010 -> 02:59 PM) How is this possible? because he hit 230, made a zillion errors and was a selfish player who just tried for homers. i cant stand guys like that.
-
QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ May 12, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) I'm worried that he's starting to resemble Jose Valentin offensively - an occasional good year largely defined by anomalous power numbers, and then a .230 hitter the rest of the time... Can someone please reassure me? i sure hope not as valentin was my least favorite sox player of all time

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 12, 2010 -> 01:22 PM) Well, if you want to believe that Q is not going to hit, and Beckham is not going to hit, I can understand that. They do not have particularly long track records. However, I believe they will hit, and hit a lot. . I believe carlos will hit, though not for a real high average. I am concerned about Beckham. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 12, 2010 -> 12:50 PM) I could be wrong on this, but if the runner gets on base only because of an error, then it becomes an unearned run if he comes around to score, and I'm sure there's some circumstances where that doesn't hold (like if the error happens on the turn of a double-play, for example). that is correct, if the runner gets on base due to error than his run is unearned -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 12, 2010 -> 09:39 AM) He's my pick to click. you are going to lose -
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 12, 2010 -> 08:36 AM) Too early to be looking at this stuff IMO. We have to start taking care of our own business before we even concern ourselves with who the Twins are playing. Start winning series'. I agree. We can't be looking at every game and changing opinions about the team whether we win or lose that game or else we will all go crazy. Though some may argue most of us are already crazy.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 9, 2010 -> 04:38 PM) There's no way you keep Bobby as the closer after this. Even if you call it a temporary hiatus, you can't have him closing the next time one is needed. Especially if that happens to be against the Twins. There's no way you and i keep him as closer but then again I wanted him traded last year while he had value. However we aren't in charge. If anything I bet it will be a short hiatus

QUOTE (chw42 @ May 9, 2010 -> 04:28 PM) He shouldn't have put up with Jenks to start the season. Jenks should have been dealt in the off-season. There are plenty of teams looking for a closer. Sign another left handed reliever so you can make Thornton the closer. Hell, you have Santos waiting to be one right now. Kenny's inability to deal a crappy closer who has been regressing since 2007 is killing this team. Just how many times has Jenks blown a lead or given the other team the lead? I don't think it was an inability. I think it was more that he didn't want to trade him. I also don't think Bobby will be removed as the closer. At least not after this game. It will take more time

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 9, 2010 -> 06:16 AM) David Ortiz and Mike Lowell. And Boston would be picking up 85% of the salaries for those two guys. why on earth would you want two more washed up guys? the red sox would gladly give up those bums

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 7, 2010 -> 02:47 PM) Really? Hasn't rained of any significance downtown all afternoon. it hasnt rained at all downtown since i got drenched this morning -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 7, 2010 -> 01:09 PM) Sort of strange to have Viciedo and Swisher as the same vote item, since they had nothing to do with each other. Beckham, Q, Santos and Rios are all good votes, though Beckham wasn't really a "move" by KW. I'm actually surprised no one has voted for Alexei yet, he was a damn good pickup too. I just voted for Ramirez. As frustrated as many are by him he still has been a very good pickup and given us a starting MI. After that I would pick Rios and Santos. I agree Beckham wasn't a move so I can't vote for that. Peavy seemed like a risk worth taking but it remains to be seen how that works out. I am not going to be convinced by one great start. Q looked great for a year and now not so much especially since Chris Carter is raking bombs and looks to be a legit power hitter. I don't see how you could vote For Viciedo at this point.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 6, 2010 -> 04:08 PM) Oooh, I need to make me some kids... things must be going well with the lady...

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 6, 2010 -> 03:33 AM) I would tend to agree; I don't even think a big bat is necessarily in order...but until the SP starts carrying it's weight it's a moot point. i think so too. add a big bat and i might get excited again
-
QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 6, 2010 -> 10:44 AM) What may be a really good sign looking back at this series is the fact that Peavy looked so dominant against a team that pounded 28 in the two games after his start...so no one can use the ole "well it was the Royals" cliche'. but it was the royals
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2010 -> 11:03 AM) So how about the last five innings against Texas's offense? There is definite cause for hope. I am just saying I am not sold on 12 innings, just like I wasn't sold that he sucked on a few bad starts.
-
QUOTE (hogan873 @ May 4, 2010 -> 06:10 AM) It was a lot of fun watching Peavy pitch. I don't think his fastball was ever straight, it was moving and diving and tailing all night. The Royals hitters looked outmatched. I think this is the Peavy we see the rest of the way. I sure hope so but lets not get too carried away. He beat a crap team. I want to wait to see him have a couple good starts before I consider him back to form. Heck even Jon Garland threw 8 shutout innings the other night.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 3, 2010 -> 04:08 PM) You know you are a huge fan. Maybe he can steal away some of Gordon's girls so he can concentrate on hitting.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 3, 2010 -> 02:48 PM) Who would you guys take at this point, Brandon Wood or Alex Gordon? Or stay with Teahen? Assuming we could find a large market team to take his contract off our hands...he would be like the Xavier Nady of the Yankees minus the eye-popping offensive numbers. Then again, that jetstream to RCF, maybe he'd put up 18-24 homers in a season batting 9th? gordon. wood i think is a bust
