  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 12:10 PM) White Sox back to 79.4 playoff odds according to coolstandings.com (72.0 at ALC, 7.3 at WC) 84.5 now according to baseball prospectus.
  2. I remember, not sure if on here or elsewhere, that I really wanted Francona and then Bobby Valentine as a consolation prize. Remember reading twitter at the college parking lot and seeing Robin got the nod, and being all "what the f*ck, dude!?". Robin has his faults, yes, but he keeps the place positive, the "give 'em hell" White Sox supposedly never concede defeat or let a blown game mentally disable them, which is awesome. Way to early to tell for the long term, but so far Robin has been a great hire.
  3. I am perfectly fine with Beckham not hitting because his glove is outstanding.
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 05:59 PM) This. It sickens me how people place the Tigers on a pedestal. They still don't scare me. Count me into this group too.
  5. Winning that World Series was the worst thing to happen the Ozzie. 2005 Ozzie and 2011 Ozzie were totally different. I stopped supporting Ozzie in 09. Its great Ozzie brought the Sox a WS title, and for that I am grateful, but they doesn't buy him a lifetime pass.
  6. I don't think KW would intentionally deal damaged goods. I can't see that helping his reputation and only scaring away teams interested in trading.
  7. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 15, 2012 -> 01:14 AM) Just maybe JR gave the go ahead to get him. I know he wants another baseball championship badly. I was referring to trading chips. I realize he would be a rental, but it would cost some.
  8. LOL the Sox could never afford Greinke.
  9. Reed has gotten the job done, but there has been a lot of nail bitters. The young pen overall has been that way too it seems.
  10. Tigers: Finally clicking or beating up on the weak Twins, Royals and over-achieving Orioles? (-41 RD)
  11. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 13, 2012 -> 03:55 PM) Then why bother? Neither is likely to outperform Humber, IMO, or really any other Coop-trash-heap-reclamation project. Aim higher or stand pat. If aiming higher is too costly, stand pat. Wolf was a s***ty suggestion, I agree. Milwood would't be bad pick up for 2 months. xFIP of 4.25, SIERA of 4.43. Milwood also has better road splits this year, somehow. Obviously its not landing Freddy Garcia in 2004, but its not a bad back of the rotation option.
  12. QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 14, 2012 -> 01:45 AM) Oh and by the way that game is a loss under Ozzie. Innings ago. .
  13. I think Millwood and Wolf are realistic expectations.
  14. I think the Sox go 40-37 in their next 77 and end up with 87 wins. Whether that's good enough to win the division or not, I don't know, but that's just IMO.
  15. Before last night it was +40, which isn't second best, but it is the only positive in the division. Brian Kenny has a CLubhouse Confidential segment about "Run Differential" saying its a better indicator than standings to show how good a real really is, but there are flukes, like the Indians as you pointed out. http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_...45&c_id=mlb
  16. I don't think we land Youk, I would think they're more likely to add Mark Reynolds.
  17. We may have more problems soon enough, Jake Peavy has an xFIP of 4.03 and a BABIP of around .240.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 30, 2012 -> 04:12 PM) We didn't face Hellickson or Price, but who cares? A sweep is a sweep. True. But we did it in THEIR park. Which is impressive no matter the team.
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 22, 2012 -> 05:07 PM) I would love a new play by play man who can bring excitement without horrible catch phrases and mad homerism. I used to really like Hawk when I was younger, but he's nothing more than a grumpy old guy to me at this point. I guess the question is, who would you replace him with? Josh Lewin? He's doing radio games for the Mets, but I'm sure he'd rather have a TV gig.
  20. Like I said in the offseason and spring training, I think this team can be very good.
  21. I'm glad AJ is having a good year so far, but I'd rather not see him back.
  22. Hopefully they'll bounce back tomorrow and get the win. I still don't think they're going to be that bad.
  23. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 01:42 AM) Good ol' SoxTalk, meltdown mode after 1 loss in April Wouldn't trade it for anything else, carry on. Pennants aren't won in April, but they're lost in April.
