QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 09:10 AM) I thought this was a little funny; from Scott White, fantasy sports writer for CBS sports (I usually don't like his articles): " Prediction: Carlos Quentin will approach his 2008 numbers. All of a sudden, Quentin has 19 homers. Who saw that coming a week ago? When a player hits a homer three times in four games, it's impressive. When a player hits two homers three times in four games, you begin to wonder if he's actually a robot. Based on the mysterious beginnings of Quentin's hot streak, he might be. It didn't begin just last week. The 27-year-old outfielder is batting .367 (18 for 49) with 11 home runs over his last 16 games after batting .216 with eight home runs over his first 60. Earlier this month, when MLB.com asked him about the secret of his success, Quentin was suspiciously evasive, almost like his responses were ... programmed. "Yeah, I'd rather just keep stuff to myself." Hmm ... because of the social and ethical ramifications of merging man with machine? Even his hitting coach, Greg Walker, is in on the conspiracy, failing to offer a reasonable explanation for the CQ-1000's -- I mean, Quentin's -- improved performance. "I think him coming up with a new routine helped him more than anything." Routine meaning instead of brushing his teeth, he brushes his ... metal teeth? Perhaps I've gone overboard. Perhaps I've looked at one too many box scores over a 3 1/2-month period and need the All-Star break to unwind. Perhaps his surgically repaired wrist is simply feeling better. Or perhaps, in my baseless and irresponsible speculation, I've uncovered a secret so shocking and horrific that no one will believe me until Jose Canseco writes a book about it. Either way, I can safely say the Carlos Quentin I fell in love with in 2008 and the Carlos Quentin I've longed for ever since has returned. I have 100 percent -- or 90 percent, accounting for injuries -- confidence in him going forward. Just don't be surprised if he's the first one off the field during a rain delay. " Hahahaha Cyborg Q!perman...

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 10:56 AM) I'd rather sign Jarrod from the Subway commercials. lol I haven't looked. Was he that bad?

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 10:32 AM) Pedro seems to be nearly ready to compete this year, and with the injury to Peavy the Sox could use another arm. While he isnt what he used to be, he could be a pretty good 4 or 5 pitcher for the Sox and would not cost anything in the way pf prospects. I am not sure KW will be able to make any deals now that most of his major trade chips are on the ML roster, so I think he will have to look to unconventional means to shore up the team for the stretch run. I would like to see him bring in Delgado on a minor league deal as well just to see if he has anything left. Bringing in Pedro would allow KW to make Hudson available again if he can add another bat. I'm surprised that this hasn't been mentioned already. I hadn't even thought of it. Maybe it's worth a try. I don't think the Phillies are interested anymore. Pedro strikes me as sort of a prima donna. He'll probably ask for way to much and I don't know how dependable he'll be. What about Jarrod Washburn? Isn't he still out there? Does he have anything else left?

Okay so we win either game 1 or 2 on the road in October, then come home and win the Series this time in front of the fans at US Cellular...

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 03:07 PM) Last 7 days: .333/.444/.619/1.063 The DH question becomes moot if he could be relied upon to keep that up.

Man I wish Andruw Jones was still mashing like he was in the beginning of the year. Think about that outfield defense if he stayed in RF with TCQ DHing..

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 12:49 PM) Same thing in Milwaukee. Whenever I drive to Wisco for the weekend, I always find the Brewers games on FM and catch some Bob Uecker for a while. Kinda sucks with him being out now. I believe that the Score is going to start simulcasting on 105.9 FM pretty soon...

YOUR FIRST PLACE CHICAGO WHITE SOX!!!

What the hell is wrong with Keith Law? This morning on the Score they were talking about how the White Sox recent surge to the top of the AL Central was all smoke and mirrors and how the Sox took advantage of a weak schedule and they weren't really a good team. -
QUOTE (logic101 @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 10:51 AM) I'm afraid any realistic chance of getting Fielder ended with Peavy's injury. If the Brewers wind up moving him, it will be for pitching. They have a young catcher they're happy with (Jonathan Lucroy) but after Yovani Gallardo the starters are really bleak. Three team trade to get them the young pitching that they want? If Fielder does come here, the Sox better win it all in the next year and a half. I don't see him being re signed here if not.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 09:38 PM) This is where I'd get along with a lot of posters if they would admit when they are wrong. I always admit the things I'm wrong about. Like Rios. I was wrong. Those who didn't want AJ in the lneup tonight should realize they were wrong. I was dead wrong. I wanted Kenny to blow it up. I'm glad he didn't listen.
-
AJ done blowed the game wide open... Seriously... How can Adam Dunn NOT wanna come here? He has a chance to be a part of something really special. And he's seen first hand how good the team is right now without him and he knows he would be filling a gaping hole in the line up. Plus he's going to be a free agent at the end of the year. I'd be begging for a trade to the White Sox.

Hahaha the Rangers sneak in and get Cliff Lee from under the Yanks Rangers To Acquire Cliff Lee By Ben Nicholson-Smith [July 9 at 3:57pm CST] 3:57pm: The Rangers will acquire Lee and Mark Lowe for Justin Smoak and three others, according to Sherman (via Twitter). Lowe will miss the rest of the season with back surgery, so his inclusion in the trade is puzzling. Rosenthal confirms that the Rangers are acquiring Lee and says the Mariners are sending cash (Twitter link).

F*** roy oswalt. Let him stay his loser ass down there. I wonder what KW is going to say if someone ever asks him about oswalt? Probably something like "F*** roy oswalt. We weren't pursuing him anyway" His ass is probably still sore from that 5 spot we put up on him in the top of the 5th in Game 3 of the World Series lol..

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:25 PM) Anybody who says Keith Law doesn't have a huge hatred for the White Sox must be a huge fan of his... But why? Why does he hate the White Sox so much?

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 10:06 AM) Can't we see what Hudson does first before we unload what little we have in our minors? I'm just worried that Hudson will get the call, come up here and suck. I'm not saying that is going to happen, but it would be bad if it does. By then it will be too late to pick up anyone that could help with starting pitching.

The Yanks are on the verge of making the Cliff Lee trade official. I wonder what it would take to get Ted Lilly from the Cubs?
-
QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 10:54 PM) That's what a former Sun-Times sportswriter said five years ago. How'd that work out? So do you feel comfortable with the way the team is constructed now? Do you believe this team as it is has enough to win the world series? ...with the DH of Kotsay/Jones?
-
QUOTE (daggins @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:44 PM) They're good, and they know they're good. They'll be in the race for Lee, and if they don't get him, they'll get someone. Their starters are really letting them down right now and they have to upgrade. That being said I'd rather be in first going into the ASB but that is contingent on the Sox performance. I'd bet my paycheck right now that the Twins will get Ted Lilly from the Cubs. Cliff Lee will go to the Yanks.
