  1. 99-63 ...just don't be as bad as last year. Please.
  2. Is anybody else having trouble with the AT BAT app???? EDIT: Fixed, but it was stupid.
  3. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Feb 28, 2014 -> 01:30 AM) A little primer to get you ready Hawk Meltdowns lol wow. Last year really REALLY sucked. It was epic-ally bad.
  4. Thank GOD the long winter of waaaay overrated NFL football and trash NBA basketball dominating the airwaves is OVAH!!
  5. QUOTE (OsweGo-Go Sox @ Feb 25, 2014 -> 10:22 AM) Well, that seems a little strong. Eh.. I haven't had my coffee yet.
  6. Alex Rios and Carlos Quentin. I hate Mark Buehrle and hope he never wears a White Sox uniform again.
  7. Is Jesus Montero even serviceable anymore? If so, is he any better than Phegley or Flowers?
  8. QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 01:06 PM) I'm rooting for Phegley and it isn't impossible that he succeeds, but he is not and has never been a good prospect. He's small, he had never produced at any level until repeating AAA for the third season at age 25, and he is not a good defender. These things have always been true of him. He's had health problems, but he's also never done much. I wouldn't put all my eggs in his basket. He's a guy who at his best looks unlikely to be much better than average with a negative value defense, decent arm but not an amazing record of throwing runners out, and a bat that has traditionally been low average, very low OBP, and low power. Damn that is sobering and depressing. It kinda puts a damper on #PhegleyFacts hashtag.
  9. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 10:28 AM) Boys and girls, take solace in the fact that while we're various shades of bummed here, there's genuine mourning in Wrigleyville. Hey let's also remember that we still have a chance at Chone Figgins, who is still available. Signing him should make us forget all about the Japanese guy.
  10. Balfour would be fun. A pissed off Balfour would be even more fun. I think he'd have an even bigger chip on his shoulder because of the Orioles fiasco.
  11. 12. QUOTE (PorkChopExpress @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 02:55 PM) Slogan: Back to Basics Commercials: (1) (Think Bull Durham-maybe even use the clip from the movie) This is a very simple game. You throw the ball (followed by clips of our pitchers pitching and maybe Viciedo throwing someone out at home), you catch the ball (followed by some web gem-type clips), you hit the ball (followed by a bunch of homerun swing clips). White Sox baseball--back to basics. (2) Garcia and/or Eaton with Beckham and/or Ramirez and then Davidson/Gillaspie and maybe a few others at a bar/restaurant celebrating a win, the waitress brings over some drinks and starts to hand one to Davidson/Gillaspie when Garcia/Eaton intercept it and pass it to Beckham/Ramirez who then pass it to Davidson/Gillaspie. The waitress walks back to the bar looking slightly puzzled and asks the bartender what that was all about, to which he responds "Got to hit the cut-off man." White Sox baseball-back to basics. (3) Black Screen, all you hear is the sound of a ball on bat, and then "Again." Another sound of ball on bat, "Again." A few more times, and the screen fades in to a video of Robin or another coach standing watching one of the players practicing bunts. White Sox baseball--back to basics. (4) All the outfielders sitting together listening to Robin give scenarios, like "Man on first, single to left," or "men on first and third, flyball to deep center" and the group of them responding in unison with the appropriate base to throw to in each situation. White Sox baseball--back to basics. Those sound good - except for the fourth one. It makes them look like amateurs. They're young, but they're still professionals. They better know that stuff already.
  13. QUOTE (chisoxfan310 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 04:17 PM) Just think....Sale Tanaka Quintana Johnson Danks Eaton Ramirez Dunn Abreu Garcia Viciedo Davidson Beckham (Catcher spot) That team would probably get you about 70-75 wins NEXT YEAR. I don't think they would break out until at least 2015.
  14. I don't think it matters if the club isn't competitive. I think you have the freedom to give several tryouts to see what you have.
  15. Eh... just call it THE KIDS CAN PLAY again without the 2.0 or anything like that.
  16. This trade is exciting and I know they're building for the future, but the White Sox are going to lose 100 games in 2014. I hope everyone can stomach that. It's gonna be tough.
  17. Well s***... that was a surprise. I'll miss Addy though. He seemed popular in the clubhouse.
  18. He probably won't be able to make effective starts until after the all star break. I'll pass.
  19. I heard that Middlebrooks had a little bit of a big head before being sent back down to the minors. Maybe he was humbled. I don't like the strike outs, but maybe he'd straighten it out here. I wouldn't give up Alexei Ramirez for him though.
  20. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 12:54 PM) Sounds like the odds are high that Hart is going to stay with the Brewers from what I've been reading. Well Corey Hart chose the Mariners, so the Brewers might actually want Dunn. I wouldn't want 2 years of Ricky Weeks at 11 mil per year though. Not 2 years.
  21. What is Week's salary for this coming year? Would the White Sox have to send money to the Brewers?
  22. I bet I've refreshed sox talk and mlbtraderumors about a thousand times today. I love this time of the year.
  23. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 02:19 PM) So do we nickname him Spanky, or ASE? Or something else? Aaron Eaton. Adam Rowand. Grindy.
  24. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 01:47 PM) I've been up for 2 hours now to get my final paper done of college, which is now due 2 hours from now, but this damn trade has totally distracted me. How am I supposed to write a beautiful feature story with this looming over my day? HOW!!??!!?!?!? Consider yourself lucky. I remember cramming for a statistics exam at the library when the WHITE SOX SIGN ADAM DUNN headline appeared. Needless to say I almost failed that exam.
