  1. QUOTE (joeynach @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 02:22 PM) Well at least he is part of Ozzie's "B Squad" in the pen. Along with Linebrink of course. Randy Williams last year at Yankee Stadium was the worst ever, I hope he does not make this team.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 12:59 PM) He showed his word meant more than money. He hasn't agree in principal with anyone yet, so that kind of makes that situation moot. I would hate to see Dye with the Cubs....sign with the Padres please.
  3. Acquiring Vaszquez to be out fifth starter, trading for Thome, and Anderson getting two hits on opening night that were just bullets, beating the Cardinals 20-1 in June and in first place thought a playoff spot was guaranteed. Don't get me wrong, have high hopes for this year as well, but 2006 the expectations were high!!!!
  4. I wish the Alderman from Chicago who represents that area would allow a beer garden so people could drink outside in a controlled environment during games, that is what destroys the atmosphere, not sure what that Daley hack is afraid of though.
  5. I think Vizquel becomes our primary PR.
  6. I wonder if KW is in any way considering bringing in Tejada to be our DH.
  7. One less person, Vlad officially to the Rangers.............
  8. In his Sunday, MLB Whispers column, Phil Rogers speculates KW might consider Russell Branyan, had not thought about him and not sure I'm a big fan.
  9. I'll be sick if Vlad goes to the Rangers for only $5 million, KW could make that work, I know we still have four arbitration eligible players that all could get large raises, but c'mon KW!!
  10. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 12:20 PM) They let you walk around very early - i showed up about 9 or 10 in the morning and just wandered around the spectacular practice fields watching the team workout. You're right there leaning against the backstop, you'll hear all the chatter and probably wind up chatting with a few of them yourself. Greg Walker has always been very cool to the fans. Then just hang around until the game starts around 1pm. I also enjoyed walking over to the Dodger half and watching some of those guys. In a nutshell, it is baseball bliss. Thanks, that is easy, can't wait thanks for the advice. Spring Training is awesome for anyone thinking about attending.
  11. Love the thread, just bought my tickets and booked the trip from March 28-31. Anyone have any advice on how practice times work and when for the minor league fields/teams at the complex?
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 05:22 PM) I hope we hang on to Mitchell. I've learned over the years never to get too attached to a prospect with KW as GM. But Mitchell's upside is tantalizing. I also liked the read on Miguel Gonzalez. He should be a fun player to track this year. I agree, we need to keep Mitchell for the long term, a guy with this much upside and speed, I hope KW does not get tempted for someone. How long has it been since we have had two catchers in our top 10. Always fun and a lot of debate.
  13. Just something to look forward to on Monday as it releases the White Sox top ten prospects.....
  14. I think he wants too, is SoxFest on the same weekend as the other Chicago's teams convention this year for some odd scheduling reason. I still say we are going to be getting Delgado.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 31, 2009 -> 07:19 PM) My guess is Scottie was trying to peddle his wares for the same price, and they chose Byrd over Pods. Pods' agent is giving him some bad advice if he thinks he is going to hold out for some 8 figure multi-year contract.
  16. I can't believe anyone is offering Holliday that kind of money, crazy, just crazy. As I've said before, still hoping for Delgado if he is healthy.
  17. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 29, 2009 -> 10:23 PM) You can tell the attitude of this board by the fact that the Top Ten Best Sox of the Decade gets 39 replies and died fairly quickly while this one about the worst is already at 107. People love to complain. That's a legitimate point, but it also shows that we have had some rag tag players come through this organization. I loved the World Series more than anything, what else can we say.
  18. What about some of those knuckleheads from our bullpen in 2007, there were many Prinz (sp) and other, anybody remember any of those no names. They all should be on the list.
  19. QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 08:07 PM) Gotta be Jose Paniagua and Andy Gonzalez I could not agree more on Paniagua, he really messed up in that September 2003 game, I think that was against the Twins, when we were ahead picked a fight and we lost all the momentum on the season and it went downhill from there.............
  20. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 27, 2009 -> 07:03 PM) JD's second half had a lot more to do with how it went down last year then Alex Rios did. Great point, could not agree more.
  21. We had high hopes for Rios when he came to get us some hitting and it didn't happen, he can't totally wear the collar for last year.
  22. Yes, I agree, Broadway could see some major league time last year. He was traded by the Sox when he was on the roster and went to Mets Triple AAA, glad he's gone.
  23. Not really getting worked up, but the Tigers at 6!! That is just crazy.
  24. Yes, I agree with all of you, 12th in baseball, that is just crazy. Especially the Cardinals and Rockies.....
  25. 11-1 in the playoffs, book it, we are the best, but I'm biased.
