  1. One break Sox got last night was when Timmy knocked in Collins with the go ahead run in the 11th. The right fielder came up with a horrible throw to the plate. Collins did not get a good jump off second, and I was surprised Coach sent him in, but it worked. A good throw would have had Collins, and the inning gets changed.
  2. Another win for Liam.
  3. Wegs, do you know this song?
  4. Trouble in River City
  5. First, you don't offend me on this issue. The only time you pissed me off was when you called another poster a Racist when you not only did not know him, but you didn't know the facts of the issue at the time, whatever it was. Second, I wouldn't mind a bit if owners disclosed finances. If I were an owner, that might change. One thing that has always irritated me is when they lose money but at the same time pay themselves a huge stipend, just to be able to reflect a loss. I wouldn't be surprised if Jerry does that. It's almost like money laundering. Not quite, but almost. In a perfect world the union should be able to see the cover sheet of the teams' tax returns, excluding all the complicated schedules. This won't happen for a lot of reasons. As it stands right now, I really don't know what the owners disclose in their private negotiations.
  6. ....which is probably a product of collective bargaining, plus private corporations are under no obligation to show checkbook.
  7. Of course, the owners control the money flow. What do you guys suggest, that owners turn the checkbook over to the union or the players?
  8. Yes, but you missed a few adjectives on both sides that are valid.

Alec Hansen with another tough outing.
  10. Nope, but it goes both ways. Both sides are trying to screw the other side out of money. So, you still lead the league in cynicism.
  11. The old argument is that MLB has higher development costs, compared to NFL and NBA. Just sayin....
  12. Can you possibly get more cynical?
  13. This has never been the case, even back in the 1940's.
  14. How would this game have ended if Oakland batters did not swing at Kimbrel's pitches that were waay outside, especially that one on a 3-2 count.

    Plus an earthquake or two.
  16. Adam Eaton DFA'd by Angels.
  17. Jake. Sorry. I did the same thing a few years ago. Jake. Jake Peavy.
  18. Anything worth repeating here? His hearing starts tomorrow (Aug 16). I can't believe it will take 3-4 days.
  19. Why is Happ batting cleanup for Cubs?
  20. Wonder what Brickhouse said when Black Cat went into Cubs dugout. I saw it live, never to be forgotten.
  21. I just reviewed the trading history of Montas. We got him from Boston in the Jeff Peavey deal. No problem there. Then, we gave him to Dodgers in the Todd Frazier acquisition (3 way deal). Not a good trade. Bassitt, of course, wet to A's as part of the Shark fiasco, along with Semian et al. Now they are both facing us in the same series. That's baseball.
  22. For an instant, Timmy might have been the happiest man on Earth.
