QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 07:21 AM) Based on what, exactly? This would be far worse than anything he's done in the past few years. Let's wait 8 hours before answering your question.

*Gamethread* 4/21 - Angels vs White Sox

Anyone expect to see Sands back at First Base soon? -
QUOTE (ron883 @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 10:45 PM) That guy had some lighttower power and a big hole in his swing.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 01:07 PM) Obviously it is very early, but his numbers in his first 11 games this year are strikingly similar to his last 2 years in Charlotte: 2014: .199/.283/.362, 30.4% K/PA, 9.1% BB/PA 2015: .203/.293/.375, 31.7% K/PA, 10.3% BB/PA 2016: .205/.255/.432, 38.3% K/PA, 6.4% BB/PA He's striking out more and walking less, but the overall results are quite similar. If he's still in this territory in May or June, it's time to accept he is who he is. Release him and let Delmonico or someone else from BHAM take over and get some AAA experience. One of your colleagues/fellow Admin won't like this.

Braves put Gordo on the DL.
-
O for 2 so far tonight. Another K. Time to put Saladino at third for a couple of games.
-
Well, Frazier is in a complete funk now. 4 AB's, 4 K's. Golden Sombrero.
-
I agree with Ron on this one. NFL comparisons don't work. "Middle of first quarter......"?? Come on. Against whom? A JUCO team? Face it, Frazier does not (yet) look good at the plate. He has been a .265ish hitter with power and good defense in the NL. He doesn't figure to hit that in AL. He'll prob end up in the .220- .235 range with power and good defense. He is not an ideal #4 hitter, but there is not a solid alternative.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 16, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) What is getting old is in your quest for a middle of the order left handed bat, you suggest hitters who aren't middle of the order hitters anymore. Sizemore hadn't played in 3 seasons yet you thought he would make a fine clean up hitter, Panda sucked last year and really was no better than Conor Gillaspie the year before, that was before his got even heavier to the point he belt exploded on a swing and a miss the other day. Panda is eating his way out of baseball. If he wasn't owed the money he was owed, he probably would be stuffing his face right now somewhere as an ex ball player. He is a talented guy, it is a shame he either won't get the help he needs to put himself in a better position to perform, or he just can't do it. It isn't like he has to be all that well conditioned to play baseball. But he is off the charts now, and going the wrong way. It is one of those signings where you just knew what was going to happen. The guy has played well fat before, but he is getting older and fatter. I would think a professional athlete being paid what he is being paid would want to be in the physical condition he needed to be in to provide the most value. From some of his comments last year, it seems like he doesn't really give a s***. He is content getting paid . He is a freaking slob. End of story.

I could smell a loss from the first inning. -
QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 16, 2016 -> 05:47 AM) our system is hot garbage Bring up Micker Adolfo.

I would rather sign Johnny Manziel and make him the starting shortstop than have Pablo on the White Sox.

Everyone's favorite ex-Sox, Swisher, signed by Yanks to minor league deal.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Apr 13, 2016 -> 11:06 AM) Sounds like Engel could get called up during the stretch run if the Sox need a pinch runner or defensive replacement. Mike, I don't hear it.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 08:03 AM) The school of Charley Lau turned out Frank Thomas. When did Frank start hitting with the Charlie Lau style of swing? He didn't have it at the beginning of his Sox career did he?

Micah Johnson just recalled by Dodgers.

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 07:07 PM) Aumont poops one away. Three, count 'em, three wild pitches in one inning. Hard to do.

Who's your favorite prospect not named Fulmer or Anderson?

QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 04:34 AM) there is a prospect who, imo deserves some chatter is May, he really impress me with his range and defense. i would really like to see positiveness from him as this summer. the system is looking good. New word. Thanks. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2016 -> 08:46 PM) It was the right move, even if it didn't work out. The players we gave up are low ceiling guys, and we got the best player in the deal. Heck, we pretty much made the same deal again to get Todd Frazier, and again it was a good deal. What I am saying is the extra draft pick could be huge for a team that need more young and cost controlled talent in this system. Remember Spencer Adams that has set the world on fire was drafted at #44. this is 18 spots ahead of that. Not sure the Frazier trade is a valid comparison. Frazier filled a gaping hole on the White Sox. A Gaping hole at third base. That trade makes sense. Samardzjia, not so much. I call it the Michael Ynoa Trade, because a day or so after the trade Hahn was interviewed, he actually said that he held out for the inclusion of Ynoa. I had to laugh when I heard that, as if he out-negotiated whatshisname at Oakland. Billy just had to clear a roster spot. We gave up a lot more for Shark than we did for Frazier, who is a much better player. Regarding Spencer Adams at # 44 two years ago -- good draft pick, obviously. Lets hope we do as well with #26. Not that we have ever screwed up any high picks in last ten years. But we should get a great prospect with the pick, maybe somebody as promising as Bassitt.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2016 -> 03:00 PM) If we play our cards right, that pick at #26 could be huge to the future of the organization. We will now have $5.5 million to spend in the first 26 picks of the draft. I appreciate your glass being half full and envy your optimism, Southsider. And, yes, we will have approx. $5.5 Large available, as you stated. But, are you trying to put a positive spin on the Michael Ynoa Trade?
-
Ubaldo Jiminez throws that way, too.
-
I now refer to our acquisition of Samardzija as the Michael Ynoa trade. We gave up four pretty good prospects for Ynoa and a draft pick next June.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2016 -> 08:23 AM) In terms of a guy I am really excited about I would say Carlos Perez, the catcher we signed out of Venezuela last year. He is already making a name for himself by hitting the top rankings of the DSL on BA. He is years and years away, but the early reviews are stellar. Venezuela has become such an under-scouted location because of the collapse of the government and social order there, so the kids coming out of there aren't getting the attention and review they used to even a few short years ago. Perez sounds like he could be a true diamond in the rough. 2 years in DSL. Time for move to AZL? Now 19.
