Shuck will play himself off the roster pretty soon.

QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 05:30 PM) Not really sure if this is the spot to post this but I have some family up near Minneapolis and I may go up there July 28-31. It turns out the Sox are in town that weekend. Any idea where the Sox stay when up there? I see they have a nice JW Marriott there. I've always wanted to splurge and maybe catch a few drinks with players in a visiting city after a game Groupie.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 08:23 PM) Shuck has no power and is hitting less than . 125 What, you don't like a DH hitting in the .120's without power?
-
QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 10:21 AM) Wanna go watch them get swept by a divisional opponent because they dont really care again? You really need more proof this team is mentally weak? Still Sox fans, tho.....

QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 09:49 PM) He has hit a tiny tiny bit better than Carlos Sanchez, and worse than Leury Garcia at AAA. And his defense isn't better than them. In what universe does it make any sense to bring him up? This universe. Anytime after this week.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 04:13 PM) Based on what? Most evaluators had Appel ranked higher than Bryant going into that draft. Just because it didn't turn out that way doesn't mean that isn't how it was seen at the time. You are evaluating this entirely based on hindsight. I thought Bryant was #1 just about everywhere. Rockies wanted him, they got Jon Gray at #3.

Both the best and worst managing/coaching is still done behind the scenes.

That sound you hear is San Diego taking an enema.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 06:49 AM) Because you have an agenda against guys like Hawkins and it was evident once again based on your post. WTF are you talking about? I have an agenda against "guys like Hawkins"? Because I asked Northsider if he thinks Sox will protect him? That's an agenda? Lighten up.
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 4, 2016 -> 06:16 AM) Are you trolling here? Hawkins is striking out at a 35% clip in his second go around at AA. Unless he pulls a complete 180, no major league team would consider putting him on their major league roster and Sox won't be protecting him. As for Coats, you act as if we haven't put fringe prospects on our 40 man roster before. Take a look at some the names over the past few years and tell me why Coats wouldn't make the cut). Honestly, he'll probably be our 40 man roster within the next 8 hours as I expect to be called up for today's game. We all get you hate tools and focus entirely on traditional stats when evaluating prospects, but you're really reaching here with whatever statement you're trying to make. Just asking a simple question from the guy who really covers this stuff. How is this hateful? Lighten up.
-
Northsider, both Coats and Hawkins will have to be protected next off season or be at risk for Rule V. What will Sox do?
-
Watching the Dodgers/Braves game. Trayce has a homer and double, OPS over .900. He just plain looks good. Geez.
-
Coats did not play for Charlotte tonight.

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 07:40 PM) Kahnle picking up where he left off last weekend. Gave up a decent prospect for him, at least Rockies like him.
-
QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 07:14 PM) Chris Archer or Kevin Kiermaier would be dream targets. Didn't he get hurt?
-
No, you continue making an invalid comparison. My original post never mentioned Anderson. He has nothing to do with that post. Leave him out of it. I said that Coats, a low round draft pick who is in his 4th year of pro ball, has put up big numbers (in AAA). I think he should be called up. He is an outfielder who can play multiple positions. Hawkins, a # 1 pick who is in his 5th year of pro ball, has put up mediocre numbers. All I said was that if the situation were reversed, that is, if Hawkins had the big numbers, he would have been called up.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 02:38 PM) Just like Tim Anderson was called up because of his name... Nope. Totally different situation, and you know it. First of all, they can bring up Anderson anytime as far as I'm concerned. DFA Rollins, or whatever. That is a stand alone decision. That has nothing to do with Coats, and you know it. All I said, or implied, was that if Hawkins had Coats' numbers, he would be called up amid great fanfare. But it is Coats who has the big numbers, and he was a low round draft choice, so he stays at AAA.
-
If Coats' name were Courtney Hawkins, he would have been called up.
-
Nice non-slide into second. Almost overran it.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 10, 2016 -> 02:32 PM) Rolling them into the draft when they turn 18 is quite literally the most fair system of all. It is crap that one group has one set of rules based on where they are born. I see no good reason for kids being free agents at 16 just because they are living in the DR, versus being subject to the draft because they are born in the US. Ditto. Can you imagine the uproar if the NBA did it that way?

QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 08:39 AM) Center field. The bat is what excites about Profar. 23 year old potential centerfielder and a potential upgrade over Rollins/Saladino. I'm just throwing it out there for discussion. That's a pretty big territory.
-
Addison Reed looked good last inning. I think he is much better suited for set up role vs closer. Of course, he had one really bad inning in final World Series game last year.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 01:50 PM) I think you're overestimating how high the organization and/or Ventura are on Hayes and Coats. I can see ONE addition, but not too completely inexperienced rookies without a pedigree. Not on a second place team in the middle of the playoff hunt. They need Shuck because they prefer to keep Eaton in RF. Now Sands' spot, sure, one of those guys could change places. Unless they're willing to give up on Avi...which is still at least 2-3 weeks away from happening, at least. What does Coats have to do, hit .450? He has not been called up, probably because he was drafted too low. Makes no sense. He's 26ish, 3.5 years in minors, decent college career, has hit everywhere. I think they are saving him to be a Rule V selection by somebody next year.
-
Ryan McMahon struggling for the first time this year. .239 with 2 HRs at AA.
-
Saladino probably won't start tomorrow.
