QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 10:33 AM) Papa Johns sucks and so does Peyton Manning. Papa John had a huge market share increase in the Denver pizza business due to those obnoxious ads. Unfortunately.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 31, 2016 -> 08:36 PM) I'll echo that Coats sees MLB time and is probably at least an MLB 4th OF right now. Adding a few of my own... --Kannapolis has a huge season, especially on offense, led by Johan Cruz, Landon Lassiter and Corey Zangari, all of whom have big years at the plate. --Here's one people will think is nuts: Danny Hayes hits well enough in AAA that he becomes an option as LHH DH/1B option for the big club. Sees Chicago in 2016. --Tim Anderson struggles badly at the plate from mid-April through at least May, probably into June. Slowly adjusts, looks major league ready around end of season, for a September call-up. But ends up being better defensively in 2016 than offensively. --None of the starters in Charlotte (that are currently in the org) look good in AAA, and the team struggles to find someone to bridge to Fulmer. --Some surprisingly good relievers will come from Charlotte, including Aumont and Smith, possibly Wall. --Despite being prospect-laden, the BHAM offense mostly struggles, with only Alvarez and Hawkins looking good there, at least in the first half. --Danish struggles again, begins to slide down lists pretty quickly. --Everyone is looking at Adams and Guerrero in the Dash rotation, but I'll bet Lowry and Thompson put up numbers almost as good. Which is good because the lineup in Winston-Salem looks horrible. --Aaron Bummer pops up as a prospect. Blake Smith?

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 01:34 PM) Why in the world would they do that? Rollins has looked solid this spring Just wondering out loud, because both young guys have played well. Anyway, right after I typed it, I saw that Sanchez has been sent down.
-
I wonder if there is any chance they keep both Saladino and Sanchez, and let Rollins go.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Mar 28, 2016 -> 04:40 PM) May be getting a new job in the next month so I'm thinking I may used my 3 paid sick days I just earned recently during the next 2 weeks. You use "sick days" so you can watch baseball games when not sick? And then you post on the internet to that effect?

QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 25, 2016 -> 04:37 PM) lf vs rf. this is a great debate and have always been of interest to me. i haven't had this debate since the late 80's. so my assumption has always been more hitters are right handed and of those the power hitter comes into play. also for me, i have always taken in account that you have those pull hitters to deal with. so the whole lf will have to have better range factor and the make the those recovery action or instinct for those pull hitters. the rf will need to have the stronger arm, because he makes longer throws, and his reaction time will be help b/c in most fields, there is a wall there for balls to bounce back into the field. the main debate is to have the stronger arm vs the quickness to cover more. If everything else is equal, the lefty should be in LF, and the righty should be in RF. Keeps the glove hand closer to the foul line, where the tougher plays are. line

March 21 spring training games thread

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 21, 2016 -> 05:46 PM) He had a decent first two innings, but got destroyed the second time around. Are you making excuses for Lollis, Southsider? I thought he pitched just one inning and gave up 5 runs. -
I just saw a couple of innings, but saw a great pickup at first by Abreu to end an inning, and then next inning I saw one of the worst outfield throws ever -- by Avisail throwing to third from medium deep right field. It went way up the third base line into left field.

QUOTE (dmbjeff @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:34 AM) A few things I've thought about with this bizarre story: 1. Do other kids of MLB'ers get their own locker in the locker room? I am sure kids are free to visit from time to time in the locker room at restricted hours, but how many others have free reign to hang out with adults in a locker room setting which includes naked dudes. 2. Wouldn't it make sense that having your kid at the ballpark is cool, but why the locker room? Couldn't he be in a suite with the rest of the family while dad is off busy working. Maybe LaRoche would be better off spending more time working out, looking at film, in the batting cages, fielding, etc. while son is eating Cracker Jacks and having a pop. 3. Don't teams have family days where there kids are allowed out on the field, playing catch and running around with dad. Why couldn't this be enough and why was it so important that his kid be in the locker room? What life lessons were learned from it? Now dragging your kid's name through the mud as you leave the game. Real classy. 4. How many players thought this behavior was so unprofessional, given what we know about sports locker rooms. A place where players will tell dirty jokes, swear, cuss, drink beer after games. It just never in my mind seemed like a place for a kid to be outside of a meet and greet with other players for autographs. Such a weird story and will be very glad when it fades away. Story won't fade away when Mrs. LaRoche comes to her senses and orders Adam back to the ballpark without Drake.

Empirical evidence that the Sox will be good this year
oldsox replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 8, 2016 -> 03:53 PM) So I updated MLB The Show 15 to newest rosters recently, and have been playing a few games. I realize, that while this team isn't fully loaded, it's way better than last year. Playing with that roster last year, there were multiple non-MLB level players in the everyday starting lineup. With the Jackson addition, we have extras on the bench. We also have a hell of a pitching staff. Anyway, I think the Sox are going to contend this year. Interesting, but does not qualify as "empirical" evidence. -
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Mar 5, 2016 -> 01:44 PM) Not new news here at all. Plus I don't see the benefit for the White Sox to give up their top minor league prospects, who are close to contributing at the major league level, for hig priced players with maybe one year or so of control. I'm with you on this. This a typical move that will backfire on Sox if completed, which I doubt. Unlike many here, I don't think the Sox are good enough to compete yet in 2016. Hope I'm wrong. IMO, the only way Hahn can dig himself out is to make a really big move with 2017 in mind. I thought he had a chance with Boston a few months ago, before they added Price and Kimbrel. Bosox are loaded with great prospects. Could have made a deal with Q as the centerpiece. Too late now. But now rumors about Rockettes and Sox are intriguing. They also are really loaded with great prospects, and they need a starting pitcher. Enter Q. Takes some creativity, but the parts are there. I don't care if it includes Cargo or not.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 04:26 PM) Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 11m11 minutes ago One reason Rick Renteria was brought in was to help #WhiteSox improve upon base running. High energy, hands-on guy. http://bit.ly/1Qo9Q8R Is Coleman still on the coaching staff?
-
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Mar 4, 2016 -> 07:19 PM) Yes, Q was rumored to be the asking price for CarGo. IIRC, the rumor died pretty quick after the Rockies asking price was reported. I can see trading Q for Cargo if Rox give up a couple of their top prospects, and they have some good ones.

QUOTE (Vance Law @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 07:36 PM) The Dodgers are the one team with simply too many guys for their roster. Someone has to move. Though I'm not sure of the options situation on Trayce, Enrique Hernandez, Alex Guerrero. And Hernandez plays infield as well. I feel like they'd pay 90% Crawford's salary and move him for a minor league reliever just to free up the roster spot. Then why wouldn't they just DFA him and hope someone picks him up for the waiver fee?
