QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 21, 2015 -> 06:28 PM) Close this thread he is garbage! That's a little over the top. But the fact remains, he could not make the Colorado roster. Or any other. Sox aren't going to cut him; he probably has 20 or so starts ahead of him in next season and a half. A few will be good.

A second guesser would say "Pinch hit for La Roach against a tough lefty in the clutch late in game."
-
Wilkins hit .264, no homers, for AAA in Toronto system; traded to Dodgers, currently at AAA in LAD system.

Oakland announcers are pretty good.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 15, 2015 -> 06:39 PM) You know Marcus is going to kill us. And Phegley?

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 13, 2015 -> 07:34 PM) Beckham's bat looks quicker this year for whatever reason. Maybe he's just fresher off the bench. Cuz he got married.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 13, 2015 -> 06:23 PM) What does it tell? I don't want to speak for Caulfield, but I would guess that a lot of announcers have no idea how great a hitter was Harold Baines.

QUOTE (LDF @ May 13, 2015 -> 04:16 PM) http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/05/...o-offer-so-far/ interesting and surprising. I read that report cover to cover, and I am exhausted. Time for a nap. Go Sox.

Enjoyed the report on the outfielders. I'm interested in your opinion about Antonio Rodriguez. He is 20 (barely) and has had parts of two seasons in the lowest Rookie Leagues (Bristol and Arizona). Obviously he is ticketed for a third year in short season rookie ball. Seems like he should get a shot at Kanny, since he is so promising. What do you think.

QUOTE (LDF @ May 12, 2015 -> 11:29 AM) in what i am about to express, do not take it wrong, but i believe someone can not be sold on anything, i look at Rondon and what is there not to like. most needs to think outside the box with Rondon. i see him as being a plus +++ many times over who can solidify the defense from the SS position. but the team may need to sacrife the offense, that is if the team will be ok with that. peace. Absolutely no disrespect intended here, LDF....This is not a cheap shot, but are you related to Yogi Berra? (who just turned 90 today).

Playoffs? Did you say Playoffs??

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 10, 2015 -> 04:47 PM) lol I'm old too but just go with it. Fisk is no longer part of the equation. But stupidity is. Now little leakers will be doing it across the country. I'm with Flavum here.

Do I have this right? White Sox want to put Abreu at third in order to get LaRoche's bat in the lineup? Let's start an over/under on how many bunt hits Brewers get.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 9, 2015 -> 12:30 AM) Fulmer is leading the entire NCAA in K's this season I believe. He's still the guy I want. I saw the last couple of innings of Fulmer's CG shutout vs S Carolina yesterday. It was a repeat from the day before, I believe. He obviously looked great. Plenty of scouts there, no doubt.

There's no way Eaton should be leading off come tomorrow

QUOTE (LDF @ May 8, 2015 -> 09:15 AM) no one team is going to have 100% success in all their trades, but some have even worst luck, like KW's early trades. horrible results. now, on hindsight, many have come back and said, in his defense, look who the sox gave up. then i turn around show, look at the terrible drafting KW has done to draft that player. the point is, it is too early to really judge the success of any trade, under Hahn regime. even the Reed vs Davidson trade. which i think was and still is, a bad trade. however i can see the reasoning of it. Oh, oh. Stand by to be criticized. -
QUOTE (LDF @ May 4, 2015 -> 03:37 PM) can you remember when this system had paper to wipe their backside??? it is a long road. but i love it. I don't understand your metaphor.

QUOTE (shysocks @ May 5, 2015 -> 08:41 AM) It all burned down when we played the Orioles... hire Ozzie and a hooker. Did I get that right? Right on, I'm sure.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2015 -> 05:07 PM) Watching these games I think the opposite. Thinking of a few plays off of the top of my head... Eaton's last game where he took a throw and airmailed everyone throwing the ball from CF all of the way to the screen past home plate. If he wasn't worried about the runner, he would have lollipoped one into the cut off man. He wouldn't have pressed and tried to get the guy at home. Danks two errors yesterday were both trying to make a big play. The DP he threw away would have been an easy toss for the out at first. Instead he was trying to end the big inning by turning a DP. Micah Johnson trying to turn a DP yesterday. If he didn't care, he would have made the easy play at 1B. The game in Baltimore, Abreu threw a ball away trying to turn a grounder to first into a 3-6-3 double play. The lazy play was at 1B. Think of all the extra bases this team has been thrown out trying to take this year. I team that didn't care just stays put, and doesn't try to stretch. Again, I see no crimes of not caring. I see crimes of trying too hard. I was reading an article on the Rockies yesterday, and it mentioned that they had the second worst base running stats in MLB. Second to the White Sox, of course. I don't know what goes into that stat, however.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 3, 2015 -> 01:37 PM) Brad Penny, just retire man. Ditto. This year's Josh Boggs.

Alexi. Should have done it in the off season. What could Sox get for him this year? Probably not much. At least it makes room for Sanchez.

QUOTE (Lillian @ May 3, 2015 -> 05:54 PM) Why couldn't they sit Jeff down and explain the predicament, in which they find themselves. Tell him they would love to sign him long term, but that they understand that he wants to test free agency. Candidly admit that their chances for competing for a play off spot this year are fading fast, and that they have a flawed offense, which they will try to fix, in the off season. Suggest to him that he would have a better shot at winning, if they can find a suitable trade partner, for the rest of this season, and that they hope to fill one of the few remaining holes, through the trade. After the season, they would like to discuss his signing a long term contract with them. The benefit of that candor would be that they wouldn't burn any bridges, and keep open the possibility of bringing him back. They could arguably be well advised to consider trading him sooner, rather than later, as you suggest. Of course you mean sit down with Jeff's agent, which will cause him to laugh his ass off. And when you say "they", I assume you mean Hahn, who will then go to Kenny for advice.

QUOTE (Mike F. @ May 3, 2015 -> 06:12 PM) Exactly. Samardzija isn't an ace and he shouldn't be paid like one either. That means Sox won't give him QO, which means Sox do not get a comp draft pick in 2016, which means the trade has dubious value, from a second guesser's point of view.

Makes me wonder what Sox could get for Alexi, or has that ship sailed?
