  1. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 07:40 AM) I disagree. I don't think Floyd goes anywhere. Best thing to do now is upgrade the bench Just 24 hours before we traded for Liriano, Rockies gave away Marco Scutaro for nothing. He is a very serviceable SS/2B.
  2. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 02:02 AM) Think of them as politicians. They over spend and pass that on to the people. Correct. And, they think they can print money, too.
  3. At first glance, it looked as if we paid less for Liriano than we did for Myers.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 27, 2012 -> 06:05 PM) Solid season for Keenyn Walker. Hope he finishes strong and maybe they'll send him to the AFL and AA next year. Astros might own him by then. If so, Brett Myers will be very expensive acquisition.
  5. They interviewed Scutaro live in Denver minutes after he was told of trade. Rockies got little for him.
  6. Heidenreich had his first start for Houston's AA team. 8 innings, 1 run, 5 hits, 7 K's.
  7. Now 5-3 Cleve. And I see Lillibridge is playing for Cleveland.
  8. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 26, 2012 -> 06:46 AM) Jason Marquis has won 3 straight for the Padres. ERA is 3.48. That's gotta appeal to someone looking for a cheap veteran. He's a good pinch runner.
  9. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 07:50 PM) Laurence Holmes raving about Kenny is swindling teams this year. We really did rip off the Astros and Red Sox when you think about it... BoSox, Yes, Astros, No. We gave up two pretty good prospects with a third, unknown PTBNL. No way anyone can evaluate this trade yet.
  10. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 01:09 PM) What're you talking about? Cole isn't in the trade... And you do realize that almost every player gets put on waivers at some point every year, you just don't typically hear about it because they are revocable waivers. I'd like to see how much cash the Pirates got, but it seemed like they didn't give up much for a pretty decent starter. I thought I read that Cole was part of the deal. If not, my bad.
  11. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 05:42 PM) I think he'll use Reed in a deal to get Greinke and then pick up Huston Street from SD. Floyd, Mitchell, Reed, possibly another pitching prospect for Greinke. I don't think Street will cost a ton if/when he turns down SD's contract extension proposal. I heard Pads want to re-sign Street.
  12. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 01:33 PM) A Tank mega hot streak would sure be nice He is a second half hitter.
  13. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 01:07 PM) Twins look like one sad ball club right now... Cuddyer and Kubel prob glad to be out of there.
  14. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 09:03 PM) Pirates fans were upset on MLBTRADERUMORS but I think it's a good deal. Grossman is a pretty good prospect but the Bucs have 3 OF prospects that are better than he is. The other 2 guys are Lefties with #3-4 starter upside. They didn't give up any of their big time prospects and got a pitcher that is almost 2 WAR. It's an upgrade definitely. Gerrit Cole?? Geez, number one pick, $8MM last year. Astros waived Wandy a year ago, pulled him back when Rockies claimed him. Bucs got screwed.
  15. Marlins and Brewers and Phillies have proven once again that the dumbest members of our species are the General Managers of our three major sports. There should be a law that GM's are not allowed to re-produce.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 25, 2012 -> 07:18 AM) Quintana for Buehrle. Do it. Please don't do it.
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 08:46 PM) So the messed up call might have ended up costing us at least two runs. There needs to be instant replay on all balls in play as well. Or you need better umps. No one criticizes them, except Hawk, and they beat the crap out of him afterward. Media has to be nice to them. Don't get it. I would not be surprised if their union went to the Commish over Hawk. Used to be a great country.
  18. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 07:54 PM) I'd take him in a second over Escobar or Hudson. Actually, he has played a fair amount at second. Certainly hits better than Gordo.
  19. RE: Third Base woes....I just saw that Ryan Roberts was DFA'd by D'backs. This guy is a pretty good player. I've probably seen him play 20-30 games. Somebody is bound to offer him a deal, but no one has had the third base woes that we have.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 01:32 PM) For those wanting to get rid of Morel, what is your plan for 3B next year? Please tell me it's not Saladino or Tyler Kuhn. Do you really think JR's going to shell out $12 or 13 million for YOUK if we don't make the playoffs? Youk won't command anywhere close to $12-13MM next year, IMO.
  21. If Dunn starts, you can pencil him in for a hitless night.
  22. I hope Myers pitches Monday so we can talk about that instead of this.
  23. Just heard that Carlos Quentin signed a three year extension with Padres.
  24. QUOTE (Caesar @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 12:30 PM) What bench? Flowers, Escobar the Choker, Hudson the Pinch Runner.
  25. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 01:53 PM) I probaly agree with Myers. I'm sure the reporter was no saint and was trying to get under his skin for a reaction. I heard that interview shortly after it happened, probably on the Jim Rome show. The reporter did not do anything unusually aggressive, he just brought up the comment Myers made about pop-ups. Then he gets called a retard and admonished because he was filling in for somebody. It sounded to be like the reporter felt seriously threatened. After all, he is there to ask questions. Jocks get asked stupid questions all the time. Myers was a jerk that day, no question about it. 50 years ago a guy could get away with that attitude. Now it's not so easy. I wonder if Kenny checked his criminal record. Do GM's do that?
