Cuban connection resurgence led by top prospect Venezuelan infielder hitting Slappy white dude at second All that's missing is a masher at first base and suddenly we're checking all of the Sox stereotypes. Summon him.

The injury is "we can't send you to AAA so go work on 'rehab' right now"
-
Alright Getz, this is genuinely funny.

I don't think it's bad, but I do think it's still a big downgrade from the Sugar Kings. Right now of the new City Connects 2.0 I'd say Miami, DC, the Sox and Rockies are all downgrades. Dbacks and Boston leaked jerseys are equal. Giants and Dodgers are upgrades. Edit: We know the Sox are keeping Southside and the Red Sox are keeping the Marathons. Are any other teams holding onto their original City Connects? Sadly, the Nats retired the Cherry Blossoms.

Worst part is that there was plenty of room in the budget to sign both. Would have completely changed the direction of the franchise.

Kenny/Hahn: "Hey Jerry, Harper liked the presentation we did." JR: "How much is he asking?" "$330 million over 13 years, but that's gonna be cheap in a few years at the rate salaries are increasing." "No. Offer him $80 million over 5 years." "Jerry, please." "Ghost him." "Ok, but what about Machado?" "Sign his friends and family to make him take a discount."

Marlins unveiled their City Connect and it's also a massive downgrade / is taking a big nod from the Heat's Vice jerseys. Nike is out here committing baseball terrorism.

We just leaving out Tommy Edman and the fact that Kopech was a big part of the Dodgers' bullpen last year? I'll admit that Jeral Perez is doing some work right now and that could eventually tip the trade towards even, but right now, Dodgers are the runaway winners.

I put this in a minor league thread, but the only reason I can see them keeping him down right now is if they want to see if he keeps his BABIP up for a little longer. He's always had a high one since joining the Sox (hovering around .380-395) but he's rocking .453 this year. He's also bumped his walk rate a pretty sizable amount. His only blemish is his strikeout rate is still high, but whatever we're used to that. I can't think of any other on-field reason. Off-field is obviously Vaughn's (relatively cheap) contract.

Oh yeah, I pretty much 99% believe this is fake, but also 100% believe the Sox had a cool presentation.
-
Yeah, this just feels blah. Still wouldn't shock me if they did give the coolest presentation. After all, they did use the United Center. JR just didn't want to give out an actual competitive contract.

That may have been the roughest sequence of announcing since Pham's shadowboxing. Fletcher: Workman's excited to be here, do what he can. Schriffen: Yeah he did some shitty defense in the first and it cost Shane Smith a lot of pitches. Stone: What errors don't reflect in the scorecard is the toll it takes on pitch— Schriffen: HIT IN THE HEAD...elbow. Workman proceeds to make a nice play.

Didn't have to wait long.

Oooh, so this is the counter point. No, but he was certainly responsible for his development. Also, Wes Kath.

I'm just waiting for people to start praising Getz for getting Bonemer in the system as Colson "insurance."
